I think this run was just made to prove it could be done in under 30 minutes. It was obvious you didn't have much regard for your life :-D You barely escaped with it on the final bosses. I even saw you pick up a poison :-o and fall onto enemies when it could have taken a split second to equip the spikes. I'd say 90% of the time improvement was because you took faster paths and avoided unnecessary items. When looking at how long I spent collecting items with the fat guy and the daughter in the beginning. There were times when I needed some things to spawn and they wouldn't give them to me no matter what. Like I needed gold really bad to buy the spring boots. I could never get enough until I went into the inn. Spending gold to make gold :-D having less gold than anything increased gold spawns (enough to buy the spring boots barely). Also when trying to get items, I managed to spawn scrolls eventually. It's probably possible to get more scrolls than you did. Also of course I saw wasted magic like when having the wings equiped with the mother after you left the house. I did that too but, went back and unequiped the wings. I'm sure it's possible to complete this game in this amount of time without squandering resources needlessly. Bosses probably can be killed faster. I think I used the power knuckle which increases hit power by 400%. I realize you only spent a day or two at the most making this, which would explain these flaws. It's unfortunate that Bisqwit didn't leave my movie up for comparison. It was deleted for an unknown reason. My guesses are: he didn't want the "first" submission of Legacy of the Wizard to be compared with anything else, maybe I said some things that made him look bad/wrong (parish the thought), or maybe it's just personal bias against me. Afterall he'll tell you it's because "this isn't for movie storage. It's a submission manager". By that logic in fairness, all videos that get rejected would be deleted also (which they aren't suprise).

Bisqwit invite me to post here! ;) Hi there! It would be great if some of you could write articles for Hugi Magazine. Issue 30, a big anniversary issue, is currently in the making. Right now we have about 400k of articles and we want to have at least twice as much. Programming-related articles in general would be very interesting, as well as articles on any other topic. Funny, the image that sprang to my mind was Uncle Jesse from the old TV show Full House. It happens when you live with little sisters.
It's meant to be this one. :)

Looking through the NES movies I was surprised to not see one on Super Glove Ball. Is anyone up to the challenge?

Never heard of this game until today. I was thinking about doing a movie about a game similar to this (star soldier) where you have your little ship, move it around and shoot stuff. I think it's cool that people are actually voting yes to this. I don't understand how, but I think it's cool. You are a most fortunate person. I voted yes too for that reason. I bet anyone who has owned this game and has died a million times loves it. Victory for the flawlessly played boring games!

With the life spell
I don't think that works on the final boss. I remember trying that long ago and getting a message saying he was immune, though maybe it just missed, and luck manipulation would work.

I loved it. Playing frame by frame must have taken forever. I like the glitch part with the spikes.

I'll take that back according to http://www.mamma.com/Mamma?qtype=0&query=thelaststarfighter+mutants there was a video where he beat it in that amount of time. It's a shame no one was able to preserve it. That would have been neat to watch. Also, it doesn't matter to me whether it gets "published" or not. As long as the movie file's available, I don't need it turned into an avi with Bisquit's logo and advertisements stamped on it heh.

ok well his videos no where to be found then. Unless you want to post it for download, I find it hard to believe he did it that quickly.

I'm thinking maybe getting the head in the museum level did slow it down by a second or two afterall. I tried to make use of the donuts as best as I could but those could be more trouble than they're worth too. I would have to try timing them again. The hidden area where I spend like a minute getting 17 balloons is the most monotonous part of the movie. I just keep shooting the balloons until I ran out of ammunition. I made sure to shoot well in advance several screens away to make it faster but it still took a while. There are some warps in that level that can take me to earlier parts of the level through the tents. I wasn't able to find a faster way of getting balloons doing this though. If I can find enough improvement strategys to complete the game in under 17 minutes, then I would try again. I did try turning sound off for a few moments when I was playing to see if that would stop the crashing but it didn't seem to so I turned it back on. I didn't try it long though. Didn't do frame advance either.

I'm sure there's interest somewhere. It's not like it would take too long to make either. It's no big deal I might do it one day if someone else doesn't. http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/skate_or_die_a.txt is a walkthrough of the game. I thought for the high jump you had to pump with the "A" button really fast but it's actually rotating the digital pad. Once I did that I almost got 14 feet high. That would be kinda funny watching him get punched a lot :-D

I think this game would be really cool to see played to perfection getting the highest score possible whatever that may be. I really suck at this game but I bet there must be someone here who's decent at it.

That jump you were talking about on level 5... I think you're talking about that one that happens with 698 left on the game clock. If you look at what happens after I get on the ledge I jump again with an alien on his way up which I just barely make it under and I wouldn't have if I had made it on the first jump so it was a time killer to avoid damage.

Na it probably used at least a thousand re-records. FCEU likes to crash a lot in this game when I change windows, and save or load states. Every time it did that, I resume the movie on a new file from the previous file and load the state. That erases the re-record count for some reason.

- In stage 1, why do you go backward to hit the last purple window? You also miss a shot after beating Nelson, which looks bad. - Have to wait for the fuse to go out before I can use the rocket again... and the only time I'm in range is after I'm past it. That was just a "showoff shot" it went right through him but would have hit him if he was still alive - In stage 2, why didn't you jump up the last escalator? - the one before the boss holds you in place and slows you down like an invisible force field - In stage 3, the Sideshow Bob fight looked a bit slow. - don't know i stomped on his feet right when they were able to be stomped on - Sideshow Bob is slow - In stage 4, is the Jebediah head really worth it? You sure don't get to make use of it for very long. - the first one was, I timed it (a few seconds faster) the second one wouldn't have been worth it that was a few seconds slower so i didn't get that one - In stage 5, there was one spot where you had to get onto a ledge. You jumped once and it wasn't high enough, then jumped again and made it. Does this serve some purpose, or is it a mistake? - Don't know I have to look maybe it wasn't possible

You're right, I didn't plan for what was ahead a lot of the time. Some items I have to get like: the goals (hats, balloons, signs) and some weapons. Coins serve no purpose after level one (to buy items) except after getting so many it get an extra life. I think after 9 lives the game won't store a surplus number so extra lives serves no purpose either especially since I wasn't killed. Jumping on ailiens to get letters just gives assistance from Bart's family on the bosses. That might do more harm than good espcially with Marge shooting away the weapons I need to kill the boss with. The door thing was just to kill time instead of just standing there while I wait for the game to let me continue. Going for goals that are in your path without backtracking or time consumption when possible, not jumping on aliens, and skipping the carnival games would be the fastest method of completeing this game very possibly in 17 minutes like that person was talking about. If I was planning on getting the fastest time possible, I would have resisted the carnival games. I was going more for quick percision without taking damage. That museum level is pretty hard at some points even with an emulator. Considering how much time I had left, I'm not sure the authors of the game consider completeing that level in one life. I only made it because I used to own this game and there wasn't a movie posted for this one. I wish these movies were easier to find. If there is indeed a movie for this already posted somewhere, I sure would have rather watched it than do it myself. I have blisters from this game now :-( Is speedruns.org closed down? I get a "You don't have permission to access / on this server." when I try to go there. If someone wants to make a better time attack for this game, feel free. You can use my movie to see what's ahead if you want.

I think a glitchy run should be made, but yeah, it should be a separate category.
