FODA, I appreciate it that you allow others to redistribute and sell your movies, but you can only speak for yourself. Whether it's someone's hobby or serious work is irrelevant, you still have copyright to your material. And publishing something on the Net doesn't make you lose any of your rights. If you decide to upload something you've made you have copyright to that material and you can set the rules (except regarding fair use): if the licence agreement (or readme.txt) says that redistribution is prohibited then no one who doesn't have your permission has the right to redistribute the material, for free or commercially. Well, of course if you upload it to a p2p network it's different, but even then you most certainly can prohibit commercial use. The term "fair use" cause a lot of confusion. Fair use is private and personal use, which means that you can do almost whatever you want with the material you've bought or downloaded, at your home. Redistribution is not fair use. So grassmunk, please sell only the movies you are permitted to sell.

I'm currently doing my first full time attack, and I think I might actually stick it out and finish this one. :P Don't you just love it after spending so long scratching your head trying to find a quick way through a certain part in a game, and you finally do it? I just spent over 30 minutes and probably 200 rerecords on a single part in my movie. I finally got it done right, and I was so happy when I finally did it. :P Making these time attack movies seems to be almost more fun than actually playing the games. When I watched some of the videos on this site, I was like "Ah, look how easy that looks!". When you actually try to make a video of your own, it's much more difficult, but FUN! It's fun to watch the videos, even the ones for the games I'm not familliar with. Just really cool to see how creative people can be with exploiting and using powerups and shortcuts. Time attack movies rule!

Well thank you. If i get around to making a DVD or VCD would anyone want to host a BitTorrent of the ISOs? ( I just want to make menus etc, maybe a trailer or two and throw some videos on there ). Is that ok with the community/Bisqwit/Time Attack makers??

Wow... i never expected to start such a heated debate. Honestly i wasnt going to try to make thousands of dollars, I just thought people would want to see these amazing videos. For the most part they blow my mind and when i show them to friends at work they go crazy. I'm slightly offended by some comments here. If i wanted to sell them on ebay without any consent or care for your hard work i would've just made the videos and posted them on ebay. Then id wait untill someone here noticed and emailed ebay to complain then take them down. I wouldnt have emailed Bisqwit or posted on these forums. I prolly would have just downloaded the AVI's from a torrent site like supernova, convert and burn. Also I had no intentions of 'Duping' consumers. I'd prolly put a link or an As seen on Bisqwits with a link to this site. You'd be surprised with the ammount of people who dont want to mess with bittorrents cause they have to download and install more programs, im serious. I didnt mean to offend anyone at all. And my intentions were honest. I'm obviously not going to go ahead untill i get written/emailed consent from people who want their videos in a VCD/DVD and send me the FMVs personally. Bisqwit already stated that he forbids anyone to download, convert then sell the video on his site and i respect that. He put all his hardwork into making these videos. As did most of you working on these time attacks. So I'm not going to be an ass about this. I just want to know what made people so outraged? If i didnt use the video and made my own using the FMVs would people be as pissed? What if bisqwit had banner ads? Is it because i was charging too much? Cause i was charging at all? If i sell them at a flea market is that ok? ( They obviously dont have a net connection at that time). I would just like to know where the line in the sand is drawn about permissions. IANAL so please forgive me. One last note, i find these TimeAttacks so utterly amazing and i just wanted to share it with other people. [EDIT]: Just read sean.brockest post and totally agree with him. Ill make some DVDs/VCDs for friends/familly but otherwise i aint gonna sell em. Period. Dont want this stuff to get taken down over something like this.

i can understand that you fordbid the download for something like that. but how will you realize that? unfortunately it's nearly impossible to get international right. especially because you only host most of the runs and did not create them by yourself. so the runners got the copyrights and they would have to go to law. then others problems would occur i.e. roms... does everybody got every game for real? excuse me i do not want to offend you in any way, i just want to say that we cannot prevent such actions...damn it!

just a suggestion but you should add a movie converting to .avi feature as well as rerecording.

the main reason for getting money at ebay is because the people are stupid :D but hey if you want to sell speedruns at ebay, why dont you make some by yourself?

seems to be a conflict about rights. it will be difficult for the runners if he will sold the videos without their permissions... morally it would be wrong to sell this movies in every way!

I emailed this to the site owner and he suggested i post this here: Im thinking of selling VCDs or DVDs of the time attack videos on eBay. I dont want to charge alot of money maybe 3-4 bucks CDN plus shipping for a VCD and 7-10 bucks for a DVD. Not all of the games of course but some of the more popular ones when they were out ( Mario series, Metroid, DD etc). I dont want to do this without some consent before i do it. In no way do i want people to think i did the things in the videos and will gladly add your site on the DVD and your name and info along with all the info of the people who made the FMVs of the games. Let me know what you think about this. If you're really opposed to would it be okay to create my own mpg or mpg2 of the fmvs? .:gm :.

i searched for a topic and went through 7 pages of results and saw nothing usefull, but those 2 avi's, when i click the links for them, refresh the nes vids page. ive gotten the rest in queue or finished downloading, so only those 2 gave me problems. if it helps solve the problem, im using mozilla firefox, instead of IE
