yeah , thats definatly true since each TAS is about 4 hours long on each game.NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! We are talking about speed runs and most of the games are beatin quickly, and that can't be right.
One DVD-R holds 120 minutes of video. This number cannot be changed while still being readable in a DVD player. At this rate, and at 4.7GB a disc, it's not unthinkable that there are 60 hours worth of gameplay on this site, as some games are quite long. It might have been an exaggeration but it's closer to the truth than 4gb.
Not my dvd-r's it says it can be increased to 360 minutes depending on bitrate or how you encode it.

Probably not the case for all, but many (if not most) of the avis on this site really aren't of high enough quality for a project like this. So you'd need to make new ones. You'd need to A: make a new avi of each movie or B: download all the avi movies and pick and choose which ones to keep and which ones to redo. Then you'd need to compile these all into ISOs, making sure to group similar games together for topicality. That would probably require posting a topic here and allowing for debate on which files to include on which disk. Doubt it'd take TOO long since most would appreciate whoever's doing it and not make it too complicated for him/her, but still. Then have fun seeding it. [edit: heh, didn't see JXQ's post]
I reencoded some nes movies before off of the avis and burned it on a vcd, and me and my friend watched it and it was good quality, we mainly payed attention on how fast he got mario through the level. it was high enough quality and it was good enough.

If you want a different bitrate or higher quality, you need to re-encode the movies, not download the existing AVIs. If I misread this as your goal, I apologize.
YOU EXPECT ME TO DO THAT! woah, that is too much work. That's even more work then expected.

........................... You mean downloading the avis? 320x240 resolution with low bitrate? You want to reencode those into DVD format to watch on a big screen? no comment..
no, who said it has to be a low bitrate? Just enough bitrate so its high quality.Who said dvd quality was low quality? I don't think Nes Mario Bros needs 2220 kbps.

Cool, first just mail me a new hard drive so I can download all of the TAS's first then I might do it. But seriously I have some serious stuff I have to back up if I'm going to do this. It's got to be planned out.

The interest is for the games they like, a nice idea for being able to split them up. I know the mario 64 run is good but i doubt many would download a 4gb iso when they'd gain 0% better quality then just watching it on an emulator if they wanted it HQ. If they want a DVD so bad they'd have a dvd burner to do it and watch it themselves, it aint that hard to do, my point is this is just stupid to distribute since people gain nothing that they couldn't easily do themselves without a waste of space/bandwidth..
I rather watch the DVD in my big screen TV then a computer and I don't want to take my computer everywhere. 6 DVD's or something for all the TAS's made would be a nice thing with a menu, more convient to take where you want and back up all your stuff. Heck, maybe we could mail the DVD'rs too. DVD'rs are getting cheapier too. Show more people that don't have computers and the technology you have. Not everyone is fortunate, and it can be entertaining. You don't lose that much quality these are only nes videos and snes videos at most. and I think you made your point and your opinion no need to reply anymore.

Yea, you would because you are suggesting others do it for you? In other words, no you wouldn't, evidence is this topic.
I would seed. no, because I have read this thread and some people are showing interested in this and just because you arent doesnt give you the right to say no one else would. Someone is planning to make a Super Mario 64 120 start TAS DVD ISO. There shows some interest in it.

I just noticed this. I really don't see the point... Isn't it better to offer choice on which videos you want instead of make ISOs which have the same 5? Or the fact that to get the same quality we'd need to waste a lot more space. I also think if I was going to do this I'd never hear the end of it, please seed! Why aren't you super seeding? How slow is your connection? It's only 4GB! Why aren't there other seeds? This encoder is not going to be doing DVDs.
It is more convient to have them on all DVDs and choose the ones you want to watch and play them on any DVD player , see if I go over to my friends house I dont need to bring my whole dang computer, and the menu makes things more convient.5 movies on a dvd are you crazy? You can fit more then that , most of the movies are nes and with nes you can lower bitrate and fit lots of movies on there. As for your connection problems thats not my problem. Don't be so impatient it probably takes longer to make the dvd iso's then download it, and with downloading you can just leave your computer on and it does the work.

It is alright you can talk about the super mario 64 dvd tas iso or whatever. I don't think anyone is going to make all the tas videos on dvd.

And you're obivously a bit slow guy (mentally) because you don't realise that when getting the other monkey, everything other than the chimp coming out of the barrel, stops. I don't recall now if Windy Well is a level with the parrot, if it's not, when taking damage everything stops again. It takes time, so it might not save time.
ok, that might be right, but you are making fun of me saying I'm a bit slow when you didnt understand how many monkeys he has? By logic reasoning of my explanation you could of figured out how many monkeys he had at CASTLE crush. Cause I told you that in the previous level he could of gotten in hit to save time, now concluding from that you know he has two monkeys and he didnt get hit to save time so that means he has two monkeys still , and then he still has two monkeys in the next level.

Yes, he's waiting because the level is an autoscroller. Getting the barrel stops the scrolling so it makes the level slower. But this is kinda unnecessary conversation because Arne found a way to skip the whole level, as far as I know. EDIT: I want to see the IRC logs ;)
windy well is not an auto scroller , he has to wait for the wind to go down or whatever.

YIKESSSSSSSSSSS ! IM GOING TO GO CRAZY TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO YOU. THis is how he normally does it : in windy well (HAVING TWO MONKEYS) at 33:15 he waits to go under the third bee instead of getting hit to save time. Then in the next level in castle crush he still has the two monkeys and he has to use the DK barrel to kill the enemy to get to the RHino. THis is how he should do it to save some time. in windy well get hurt by one of the bees to sacrifice a monkey to bypass the two remaining bees to save time, then in the next level you have one monkey you need to use the DK barrel to get pass the enemey and to get to the rhino and you will get your other chimp back.

Does he have both Diddy and the other chimp? You realise that the level stops scrolling when other monkey comes from the barrel? And it also takes time to take damage.
No, I ate the other chimp it was delicious. Please read my post over again, it doesnt matter that the level stops scrolling because he is waiting anyways, he can get hit and go through the two bees.

In windy well at 33:15 he waits to go under the third bee instead of getting hit to save time. Perhaps he can hit by the first bee and have enough time to bypass the 2 remaining bees so he doesnt have to wait. In Castle Crush at 33:58 he grabs the DK barrel at about 33:59 he kills the guy with the two swords standing in his way to turn into the Rhino. So the point is he can get hit by one of the bees in the previous level to save time since in the next level he will get one of his monkeys back. Let me know if you want me to explain this again.

YEah , he gets the barrel anyways in castle crush and uses it, so you might as well in the previous level when he is going under the three bees lose one of your monkeys to save time.

the level before castle crush, he could of sacrficied one of his monkeys to save time to get hit by the bee when passing the three bees since in caslte crush there is another monkey barrel.

The one that doesn't lag is this one: Encoded by Dehacked here is the zeldaOOT video stats = Video: h264 320x240 60.00fps 432Kbps Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 71Kbps in the other one This one lags: supermariobros3-tas-nowarps-jxq.avi Video: h264 256x224 60.10fps 202Kbps Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz mono 42Kbps This one lags and the Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 Tases lag So why is one not lagging but the other one is lagging? I use media player classic

Dude, I'm not interested in your opinion, and therefore I'm going to ignore that stuff. People stop going off track, if you don't want to do it or if you don't think someone will do it keep that to yourself and don't waste time replying.

According to this you can have mpeg1 and mpeg2 videos files both on one dvd is this true? Could you do this project for us? Most Nes Videos = mpeg Some Snes videos = mpeg2 All 64 Videos = mpeg2

I'd really like to watch this TAS but... I'm having difficulty playing it back. I'm using Snes9x 1.43 WIP 1 for Mac OS X, but I'm not sure where to go in the program to set the settings specified to play it back... it's not desynching, it just seems that on the third level, Mario goes to double jump off the first tree and it either misses or the emulator's not picking it up and he falls (well, swims) to his death. I'm not even sure if this is the right place to put this either... new user, and bad at this sort of thing. <_< I can be contacted via email or AIM if someone's kind enough to help me out, but... I really would like to watch this. ^_^;;
