The .fmv is the correct size. I don't know about the .nes, though. How do I check if it's the PAL version or not? I'm new to Famtasia :)

I'm having trouble with your Kirby's Adventure fmv. When the game starts, it seems all you do is jump right and suck in air a bunch. I'm thinking it's something to do with using the wrong buttons. What buttons do you use?

I dont think its a big deal if theres a death in a timeattack, I want to see the game finished in the fastest time possible and if u need to die or recieve damage in order to do that then go ahead. Also I like bugs and glitches. Basically anything that helps save time I think should be implemented. Although the run wouldnt appear perfect which I understand is the concept of a timeattack. Me personally, I prefer speed over perfection.

Wasn't sure if this was the right forum to put it in. Apologies ahead of time if this is not it. The latest Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) is out and has an article is entitled "Speed Freaks". It's more geared towards speed runs than time attacks however. I was hesitant to post this because of that, but I thought some might be interested in this. Basically, the article goes over Nolan Pflug's Metroid Prime 100% run, as well as mostly current console speed runs and such. The only real mentionings of the NES was talking about the Metroid run at 37 minutes (although we have seen faster, but sadly, the method used is not allowed) and talking about the concept of speed gaing has been around for years, since the 8 bit days with games like SMB 3 and Mega Man. Also, no mention of the infamous "Mario in 11 minutes" video. It does show that the idea of speed runs and fanbase for them is hitting a new plateau. I would have loved them to have Bisqwit's site listed here (only the Planet Quake and the Contra Shatter Soldiers are mentioned here). I really find the 8 bit runs a lot more entertaining than current console games. Probably because when I was younger, the thought of someone beating The Legend of Zelda under 30 min was absurd. That, and I still find older generation games to hold a more genuine challenge than anything past the 32 bit age. They also plugged Dazzle Video Creator 80, which connects your PC to your console for recording in that method. Overall, it was an interesting, although not an indepth article. If the overal spectrum were discussed, they would have made a bigger impact in the interest in these videos.

I have a request: Shatterhand. One of my all-time favorites, and one of the few NES games I actually took time to master. It has a beginning stage, five intermediate stages, and a final one, so there's plenty of different paths to test out. IIRC, I used to do the stages in order of upper-left, lower-right, lower-left, middle, upper-right. That was just so I got the invincibility suit for the final boss (yes, I played it that much). It's not going to be a fast game, but it would be fun to see someone else's take on it. http://gamefaqs.com/console/nes/data/8112.html

I love Mighty Bomb Jack, especially the Palace-warp stages. On real NES I often try and see how far I can get without dying. Once you get hit, you go all the way back to the last level you actually played, so it's a real challenge. My record is level 10 or 11. I will download the movie when I get home from work. Your effort is appreciated by this gamer!

Hi, I've used Bittorrent to download some of Bisqwit's NES videos, but I cannot get the sound to work. The video works fine. I'm using XP and have downloaded the Mega Codec Pack recommended by Phil in another thread. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I tried searching for this topic already, but haven't found anything on it. I don't own the rom for Link no Bouken, so I can't view the fmv file movie. I was wondering Bisqwit if you were planning on creating an avi file for it, since I assume it's finished that it's on your movie page. Thanks. Rob

It was TA in the way that levels were played separetly and then forged together, like Quake done Quick i.e. one level was played until they were satisfied with the result and then they started the next level with the same stats. So the entire game was not played in one sitting but each level was.

http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Denei/3370/ Has anyone visited this site before? They have a lot of movies available, unfortunately I'm unable to make most of them work... Mainly because different emulators are used and I have no understanding whatsoever of the japanese language ;) (working fmv's on the site not currently on bisqwit's site are Rockman 5, which I think is obsolete now and also Dr. Mario)

Basically no. The dvd is a supplementary service for the subscribers of the magazine, as it contains demos, trailers and movies.
