Well, I'm doing a full run of SMW for snes now, with lots of fun stuff to watch in that...just i dont think the overworld time will be the fastest, so yeah, someone could probably beat it if they knew a faster way, im just concentrating on level time ;) - Volkov

Snes conreoller is modded especially for use on pc, it's got a gameport extension coming from it, and it's really well done. (props to my mate) posibly a USB extension will also come from it soon if I can be bothered, and maybe 2P support. The controller istself is just a PAL snes con if that matters, and it's just plug it in, install the drivers (psxpad of course) and then off ya go! Of course I never unplug it unless when going to a lan, but then it'll just go straight back in, no need to configure drivers again :P If you want actual info on it then you best wait till my mate who made it for me gets back from holiday (that's tomorow) I can get him to post here, I might do that, otherwise if ya want I can pass on your aim, yim, or msn info to him and he can contact you if he is free, being the busy electronic person he is... well, catch ya! - Volkov

I've studied the vid.... Yes, of course he uses the long jump backwards to finish the game in...16 stars! 31 stars plus three bowsers in 26 minutes is a bit unlickely to me ;) Anyways, the glitch is using MIP (the rabbit in the basement (who appears after you're 15th star) and then using him to glitch through a door you should not be able to enter until, 30 stars... Then the 16th star is obviously the star to make the 2nd boweser level appear, get the key and head to the top to do the 2 glitches to enter the 3rd boweser level. I'd say the overall gameplay is quite good, he knows what he's doing. But i have to say he could do better, much better, if he were to really practice every move:P But, it's a pretty hard game at times, so I give him a lot of respect... anyways, I gots to sleep, I just finished watching the aLttP video...almost flawless, very good watch! - Volkov

Well...I've done speedruns on mario64, and the backwards jump thing CAN be hard, and he stuffed a lot of jumps here and there which just cost him time generally, still amazing effort, i didnt think sub30 was so easy, and by quite a bit too, well for the person above who wanted the link: http://www.planetquake.com/sda/other/mario64.html - Volkov

Let's see... + and - change frame skip rate's from auto skip and 0-9 if you hold shift while pressing either + or - then it will change the Emulated Frame Time (slowing down and speeding up emulator time, that's how you slow down movies... Now for recording... Simply start recording you're file, and use save states and load states to fix up what you want for you .smv file...then when you want a break, or have finished end the recording. To simply resume recording after stopping, start watching your movie, when you're upto the point where you want to continue, simply make a save sate there while watching and then load it before "movie end" comes up on the screen, this will also count as a re-record...they are just simply loading a state when recording a movie...like a "movie state" I've had absolutely no problems with the recordings at all, I can speed up and slow down the emulator as much as I like while watching and recording my smv's and it dosnt desync at all. And about the buttons like "shift+F1" being in an awkward place...and I know i've mentioned this many times before, why don't you all just get a program that remaps the keys, I use it all the time, mine's called Joy2Key. I'm not entirely sure if it will work with the keyboard but it definately worked with my snes controller (which is what I use to make the recordings anyways) I just have L and R and save and load, respectively. Playing with the keyboard suck =/ Anyways, hope some of that helped...incase Joy2Key only works with Joypads, then find one that does remap keyboard kets and shortcuts, I know they exists! - Volkov

I'm pretty good at timeattacking for real. I've just always played games and it's come naturally... Some of the time people have done on some games though are quite amazing, like the Mario64 26min vid, and it can be clearly beaten to! It's pretty impressive, the power of gamer's lately... - Volkov

flying > running....simple. I can't say that at any point that flying IS slower than running, even if it's a castle, like...I think it's the 2nd castle, or maybe even the third, where there's a part where you go up real far, There's a lot of that I've been able to fly in a real game speed run. So while it might seemed themed, it's the quickest way, by far. Just of course if I did it, I would go as close the ground at all times as possible, i would most certainly use all the different ways of flying, to get as much score as possible, while being real tricky with the actual level obsticales, enemies included! Now one thing remains :: looks at the topic name :: As soon as it's worked out, im doing a 96 exit run! - Volkov

Maybe just make same rule as sbm3 full run of game "start every level and end every level as small mario....of course, it would be very boring watching lots of levels with flying through as cape only....How could I do this... - Volkov

Someone informed me I might be able to get a discussion on these forums as to help me find the absolute fastest possible route through Super Mario World (U) for snes.... Just what levels and in what order, for the fastest overworld time... once I know there's a final fastest strat, I'll get right to recording a full length 96 exit game for your enjoyment.. Anways, I'll leave it to you, and add any input I possibly can! - Volkov

The staicase glitch is extremely interesting, because, errr, it's wierd. I find it to be absolutely a complete waste of time unless it can be conquered only with cape mario, then the run will become near-perfect. Otherwise sorry to have beaten your time but entire 15 seconds!! :( - Volkov

That's exactly right...Still I've played and finished the game many times before, I wouldn't be the best at planning the ABSOLUTE FASTER ROUTE! - Volkov

WHy don't you people use a program similar to joy2key and map shift button to Pause, it's that simple, wtf are you people talking about? And why would you need to puase to save and load state, wouldnt that just take more time, hold the butons that you have like, right and run and then load state ad keep holding the buttons and you're off, well, i guess that might be pretty hard to do all that with a keyboard, why would you bother, use a snes controller, its worked so much better, and i can do the runs in much less time! - Volkov EDIT - to your last post, again a joy2key like program which you can map keys with! What speed, I change all the time, Can you catually play frame by frame, or is it so bad that you press a key and 15 seconds later that key will be pressed:P? - Volkov

I use a SNES controller, and THAT's IT! I removed L and R and made them load and save state, no need for pausing, and yes I did my entire run with it! Fly inbetween the ghosts, umm, that's what i do... - Volkov

DSH - 386 - 370 - 340 (per going through a door at that time) I was always good at that second bit, but there is a problem, whenever I do the first bit faster (I can, trust me) The second bit (the circle of ghosts) is dofferent, and I can't get past quickly... So, I guess I have to keep trying till I get a good setup and that'll always work with my end result.. Also, if you kill the fish with the cape then get the flower, it takes too long, and I think, it's slower anyways, going through the second part of DSH with fire mario (instead of me flying almost enitrely through the second part...) oh and then waiting for you're cape again after you hit the P-block, it could be a disaster, of course, I'm going to have to try it all out, I don't quite get the glitch though with fire mario, what exactly do you press and when? Like, always running, etc, what buttons and when? - Volkov

in DS1 before the DSH, if you switch between fire and cape mario when going up the part with the dragon coin above the fish and you're holding the red shell, it won't work, you're needing the cape to knock the enemy out, fire mario won't do it... Also, using cape mario after the first door in DSH (Right to left, where the P-block is) It's EASILY quicker to go with cape mario than with fire mario, and switch to cape mario when hitting the P. So in conclusion, I think this glitch is a complete waste of time, UNLESS, you can somehoewswitch to fire mario at the VERY beggining of DSH, and wait for it to drop, then pull the glitch and then swap to cape mario asap after that....no, wait, forget it, that's just not quicker.....But maybe we could work something else out with the whole 'glitching' through the staircase at the begining to somehow fins a faster route... Also, how is 1IC finishable at 282 (instead of 281, I think) at the first door? EDIT - Why don't we chat on aim or msn if you have it, my details are at the bottom of all my post. cya - Volkov
