minor edit: Am I the only one who thinks using the term "backstabbing" for this is a little harsh?
I think some people has been to polite up to this submission to say what they think about this. I'm one of those.

Of course you shouldn't. It has a lot of flaws in it which Adelikat apparently fixed good. I just wished I could have done it myself.

Internet went down for a few hours and apparently I missed a lot of what was going on in this topic, now it's time for me to say what I think. I haven't read all post word by word but I've read most of them. To be honest I think this whole deal has become to focused on time. Sure, time often means more perfect runs but not as much as people claim. Hmm, let's say that in SMB1 one loses a frame for every coin he picks up but it wouldn't affect the time units because I guess a time unit is, say, 10 frames. So if this was the case and someone picked up 9 coins in every stage = losing 9 frames but noone would see it (maybe if someone watched it frame by frame but..), would that be less entertaining than taking those 9 coins? I don't see it this way and thus I can be without those 9 frames. Ok, I also think that one has to judge each game, I think it's cool that SMB1 is "perfect" but really, I don't care about a frame here or there in other games. To get slightly off topic but yet focus on Sleepz comments: I wasn't very happy when that, to me unknown, person stole my story-book runs. Sure, he did improved them by several seconds but as far as I know (I haven't watched them) he didn't invent anything new really, just copy-paste with a better tool than Famtasia. I would much rather have re-done them myself, even though it would have taken me a year to get back my lost motivation. Yesterday Adelikat beat my Cobra Triangle with a huge amount of time. This feels slightly better because he apparently did things different but I'm not that happy about it =/ Maybe "stealing" is the wrong word here but I'm sure you understand what I mean.. I too have stolen runs unfortunately so I can't complain too much (Rygar was Warp's from the beginning) but I totally agree with those who's opinion is that the original author should get a chance to improve their own runs instead of someone backstabbing them. I'm also aware of the fact that "competition breeds perfection", but then again, is perfection the best? In most cases, I don't really care if a frame or two can be saved. Deviance said earlier that "this site is not an ego collection". I can agree to this to a certain point, but I don't think many people likes being ripped off, here or in real life. Hmm, I think that is what I wanted to say. Sorry for getting off topic. Edit: Also, I don't intend to throw dirt oon you Phil. Finding 36 frames is clearly skilled, but still I stand by my opinions.

Another run! Gah. 44 seconds seems reasonably though. But it's harder to rescue all those guys even though it might be slower.

I can't edit my previous post for some reason.. Well, I can only remember one case where an improvement haven't been published and that's the 1 frame over Pom's SMB1 run. So I sort of think this is settled already ;)

I agree with Filvhein, in terms. Getting an obsoletion by improving 30 frames is kind of backstabbing the previous player. But there are games and games. This is a mario game we're talking about, and its a reference to other players, so the faster the better. Making a mario movie means getting into a hard competition, so, such improvements are predictable as big candidates for obsoletion.
I think Foda described it pretty well. I too agree with Fihlvein about it being a small improvement, but on the other hand it is like Foda said, a Mario game. Also, didn't Phil had the first record on this? Or maybe the first "improved" record over Bisqwits older? I can't remember really. Edit: My 900th post apparently.

Anyone working on this? I watched (I think it was) Viper's run on this and the game seemed awesome! I'd love to see a TAS on this.

And then there's also the faster way of handling the waterhoses:
I've been improving Chip n Dale 2 in small scale lately. It's going slow though but an improved version will come. Well, to stay on topic, in C&D2 it's bad to take those "coins" (those squares with flowers) because at the end of the stage they will count down and take a frame per "coin". I don't remember how it is in C&D1 but those 2 by the waterhose seems avoidable if that should be the case. It's just a thought though. Edit: I just learned that I was wrong. And btw, those small clips look great!

Ah ok. Thanks. Since I don't know anything about the game really I can't tell you what to do, but from my 2-minute-experience I'm voting no. Sorry =/

What's the goal of the game? I just tried it for 2 minues and I ended up in a room, opened a desk and found a gun which I couldn't get. I didn't bother that much though. At first look (those 2 minutes) it didn't looked like a very entertaining game unfortunately. Maybe it's getting better later on. It reminded me a bit of Terror on Elm Street, atleast how the graphics.

Thank you ;) Apparently I have been away for a long time over the summer. I just found out that all 3 of my runs with this games has been beaten. I don't really want to play them again so I guess they are yours from now.

Crap. I had no idea that someone was improving my run. 10 seconds seems like a reasonable amount of time. But on the other hand it means I did a lot of mistakes. Well, good job though.

It should be there. I checked that version too and if you have a ROM (game) loaded there should be three options there. *Records movie *Replay movie <--- this is the one you are looking for *Stop movie It should be there. If not I have no idea what the problem is.

Open the ROM under "File -> Open". Then click "Replay" under "File" and open the .fcm-file, then click "Ok" and that should be it.

When playing maps like Big Game Hunters, the game randomly picks different AIs for each computer player. Sometimes I'd get Zerg AIs that would do nothing but create a few drones and then collect minerals for the entire round, while once I faced a Zerg AI that actually threw Defilers at me (with quite painful results). Actually getting the 'nasty' AI in gameplay seems to be based on luck...
I think this depends on what map it is and what position the race gets. If for example Zergs won't act normal in let's say 9 o' clock at BGH a terran might act as it should. I don't think this has with the AI to do in the meaning that it should be different that way. I don't remember for sure now but there isn't many different settings on the computers. Normal and maybe hard is available as far as I know. I don't know this for sure but that's what I think until someone proves me wrong.

I might try it also. I used to play this game loads before I went over to TAS'ing and WC3. But I'll doubt I'll survive long.

Isn't there a way to face the insane difficulty AI? You can't choose it normally, but I think you can use the insane AI script if you make a custom map that triggers it. It's been a while since I've played this game though...
Never heard of it, but it might be possible. It is insanely hard though to face 7 opponents at the same time and if they are all against you. It can be done but it sure isn't easy. I think I've done this with terran, closing my entrence to the base and then tanks behind and then get BC's or something that will kill loads of units fast.

One tactic would be using terran, blocking the only entrance and put up units behind it. Any other way would be utterly hard I think.

I also played this game for several years ago. I can't help you really because I don't remember much of it but I THINK the items you need you will get automatically after completing quests and besides that I THINK you can skip the rest. There might be some side quest to boost strength or something but I don't remember this for sure. It could have been the NES game that has that, or some other game. I hope you continue though because this game rocks!

3 of the 4 of those are actually recommended to users in the "Codec problems; sound problems; video problems; broken AVI file problems" section of the FAQ. Which I could have pointed you at anyways.
I figured this. Still I'm not a "download-everything-on-the-net-person" and thus I like the comfort with avi's only that only requires that you upgrade your player sometimes. Mkv might be good for reasons that I don't know about but until a movie of a game that I must see is released (with mkv) I skip the "trouble" of getting it to work.

Could you PLEASE stop using that freaking mkv format, whoever is creating it? Or at least give a VERY good reason to use it? They don't work in my system with winamp nor even with windows media player. The core media player knows how to play them, but at least the previous video had bad problems with the sound. Why use this obscure format? It's not like the videos had three soundtracks and subtitles in ten different languages. I see no rational reason to use it and cause viewing problems to the vast majority of people.
Seconded - can't get anything to run the video, but the audio track plays just fine. Would definitely love to see this from the way it's referred to.
I double second this. I guess it's more than possible to watch this if one wants it enough. I however don't wan't to download loads of new stuff to watch a movie of a game I have never heard of, even though it might be a great game. I like the avi's ;)

Where do you find these numbers? I mean, the exact numbers for the fps. I find it pretty cool, even though I barely understand it ;)

If I do it it will be a 2-player run. I'm still in the forest though with no chance of doing a TAS. I'll report if and when I start with it. And also, I don't know anything about the game really.
