Maybe in the future TASes will be made entirely by bots. With some randomization to increase the replay value

You mean IRC? Just use http://webchat.freenode.net/ and connect to #tasvideos from there if you don't want to install it.

If it helps any (though I doubt it will), when I close degavi after getting the file error it gives this error: "The instruction at "0x032c18c5" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program"
Weird, I'm not getting any error when I close it.
alden, Wockes or anyone else having this problem: can you please try this copy of degavi and let me know if it helps. http://www.pcc.me.uk/~peter/tmp/degavi.zip
Worked perfect for me with ffdshow. Made a 2 min encode of a 8 min SMS TAS (kungfukid). Didn't desync at all. UPDATE: Seems to work randomly, still don't know what triggers the error message.

More like alpha tbh. It failed to encode a Movie Maker movie.

i think that, being the first submitted TAS for Hagane, it should be accepted.
I'm sorry to say this, but this site has a "high" quality standard.

alden, the windows build does create avi files by now. Check the WIP section on http://www.pcc.me.uk/~peter/dega/ and feel free to dig yourself through it.
Hey, that's pretty sweet. Didn't know that that had been added. I pretty much assumed you couldn't do it because there's no record avi button. EDIT: Seems I was off topic too

The hack looked fun to play with an art style that made it look different than other Mario games, and the TAS was well done even though it was mostly bunny jumping. That last boss is really impressive from a technical standpoint too. Yes vote

Ironically you may only see Super Sonic half of the time, back when I was doing a test-run through Chemical Plant Act 1, it wasn't worth going Super Sonic in it.
Oh the all emeralds code, I was thinking about the gameshark code that made you SS at the start of every level. I have no idea why I thought that. Maybe I was tired when I wrote it...

Doesn't the forum use gmt+1 as a default?

Can you provide an encode, since we can't watch your movie?
It's a troll. There's no point in asking for an encode. You won't get it, just like we're not getting the save state.
Aww, I wanted to see how good he was :(

1- getting all emeralds while "keeping the flow", already discussed
This, it fits in with the 100% and has a higher chance of getting published. And it looks alot more challenging than running around being invincible all the time while the Super Sonic music loops for half an hour(talking about option 3. Oh, and the fact that I want to see the special stages).

Rather than aiming to get all rings that come, you should also aim to get the exact amount required for the emerald. Say if the amount needed was 140, then aim for 70 for each of Sonic and Tails, should give you a much faster ring count-up at the end of the stage.
I was thinking that but then personally thought it'd be more entertaining to see them collect ALL of them if possible (I don't believe this -is- possible on stage 7) but I believe I may go back and just get, as you said, the required amount. Suppose I've accidentally picked up this one heh. Would it be more entertaining to catch and miss a few along the way then manage to -just- collect the right amount before the checkpoint, or collect all until the required amount and then dodge the remainder?
Do both, but personally I would just do whatever is faster for that act.

Really sad to see why TASvideos has to deserve this fate, being such a great site in the past. I only hope Bisqwit will be more careful in the future when deciding to whom he gives judging powers.
I really hope you didn't say that because your run didn't get a second chance. Please tell me that's not the case. Also about the judging, someone HAS to do it.

Yeah, me too(even though it most likely won't get published considering that this one didn't on the first try).
