Well kind of, though it's pretty hard to test it. The glitch seems to be kinda random. I haven't found anything that would explain why or when it happens. I'd appreciate if someone could try to playback the movie and press accept themselves and see if it works, at least it would say if it's my ROM's that are errored or if all ROMS have the glitch.

Well as i mentioned above it is impossible to proceed to next level. The glitch in the completion screen which prevents you from ever getting out of the screen happend on Defection as well though then i was able to find a diffrent frame to end the cinema so that it worked anyway, However, no such frame exists in investigation. And i've tried alot of diffrent ways to end the level etc to somehow get past this glitch but it seems like there is no way to do it. In other words, No progress at all since last WIP. And there won't be any until a solution is found.

Considering how this is a very long going project it might be nice to not only post screenshots but also a video of some random single star a little now and then, like a teaser but alot more fun then a screenshot yet nowhere near as revealing as a WIP?

about the bug.... if you're aiming for fastest ingame times (which i believe you are)... then perhaps you could try and reset the game (with ingame auto-save on) and go to the next level through the menu?
This appears to be the only solution...But how exactly is it performed? I thought soft reset was only possible in a new version of mupen.

FINALLY Investigation 2:32(WR is 2:37) http://download.yousendit.com/5DE4762819F4003E This was the most hellish, boring and annoying level ever. And i've encountered yet another emulation error, actually the same as after Defection with the game never proceeding to next level, only diffrence is that now i can't find a frame where it works...?? So once again i dunno why this happens or how to solve it.

So just wondering, for those who successfully can play the movie, if you stop the playback after the level is finished and try to proceed to next level, does it work? Edit: Alright forget that question, i just fixed the problem! :D Appareantly it's something about the frame in which you enter the elevator which causes the problem. So yeah, INvestigation is on it's way!

It's simply Perfect Dark (U)[!] v.1.0 (NOT 1.1 like the co-op run). So if you've got that version it shouldnt be complaining...?

Okay i just encountered a pretty big problem, after the green completion screen appears and you press A, the blue screen with next level appears with Accept and stuff. But no matter what i press(At the decline/accept/replay screen) the game doesn't proceed. The background music is still there and plays forever while your waiting for something to happen. I've had this problem before and i have no idea how to solve it or prevent it. It's strange though that neither L4yer or myself while doing Co-Op tas had this problem. It worked just fine then. Though i did use version 1.1, dunno if it makes a diffrence(i'd hate to be forced to redo on another version..), not sure what version L4yer used either??

Alright so..I got a little bored by desynchs while trying to Co-Op Investigation. So instead i decided to try out single player. And after struggling a while with the programmer seeing me everywhere i finally realized that it wasn't an emulation error at all and is in fact very easy to prevent. Just don't kill guards in programmers path. He sees those, not you. Fortunately he doesn't care about knocked out guards, only killed guards. Anyways, I ended up with a low 1:15 which is 8 seconds below current world record: http://download.yousendit.com/0662D62F1E7EC88A

I always thought it was made to totally get rid of desynchs. And to 90% it works. I didn't experience a single desynch in the menu stuff and it wasn't until the first glitching i got a desynch.

250 Desynchs??!! Wow, that's just wierd. Though I am using anti-desynch version and it's with great success(not total successs though, 4 desynchs i think so far, which is still extremely good for co-op). So yeah, Anti-DS FTW! And as i said, TAS'ing Co-Op might not be as hard as you might think. And the results maybe not what youe expect either, but i guess no one really cares anyways :P

*Revives the topic* I just thought i'd say that i've been working on a Co-Op TAS of Defection Perfect Agent. It's merely a test and not a start of a full run, i just wanted to see if it was possible at all and if it had the expected entertainment value. So anyways, I finished the TAS today with a time of 1:02(no speech skip, and i lost several seconds in beginning due to not using the glitching without door or head strat(it was simply too hard to perform)). Unfortfunately i experienced a desynch and have to redo last 20 seconds but it was the easy part of the level and should be done by tommorrow. So long story short, Co-Op is possible and probably easier than most thought. It's just very laggy and hard to optimize. Anyways, Expect the m64 tommorrow! :)

Isn't it just simply to make a page with the fastest times for each star? That has been done with like tons of games and doesn't seem any difficult to put together. The only problem would be updating it but as long as poeple submit their times and provide a video of it only thing needed is someone willing to do it.

Damn, Super Mario 64 has finally after all these years been completely broken. Since there aren't even any theoretical improvements anymore(apart from the small stuff) i guess this is as far as it'll ever go. Incredible achievment guys! Edit: Yes this is a yes vote :P

The thing I'm confused by now is this: since you knew the unassisted WRs in Agent difficulty, why did you decide to keep going with a tool-assisted play of that level with a worse time, rather than fix the inoptimal play?
Because of 2 reasons: 1: I didn't know how to improve it and i still don't. The only thing that i know for sure could improve it is lookdown. Otherwise it's pure blind luck manipulation(i.e trying to manipulate something when you don't have a clue of how or when it's decided). 2: The first few levels of the run i wasn't exactly serious about it, Of course i still tried to optimize as much as possible but spending 100 hours on a level for a second? I do have a life you know. Anyways, I suppose everyone here can agree this discussion is leading nowhere. So i'll just stop arguing now. Whether this run gets published or not, i don't really care anymore, of course it'd be nice but i still have a full agent run to watch for myself when i'm bored.
JXQ, i didn't mean sucked i meant less maxed. So timewise they suck, not playing wise.
especially if the Agent unassisted world records are so close that you can't be bothered to check them against your tool-assisted run before proceeding to the next level.
I'm afraid i don't understand this sentence, i know perfectly well every world record in Goldeneye. If you didn't know it already i'm ranked 11th in the world. And i also knew what time i had before i proceeded.
t looks like you're getting frustrated because you can't do a sloppy job since somebody already did it better. Uh...
Actually it's you who don't make any sense or don't understand me at all, My point is, I DIDN'T do a sloppy job, And RT didn't make it better, he did it on a diffrent difficulty, meaning less maxed wr's and therefor, he beats them. Otherwise my run is for most parts more optimized. And blublu, your last sentence is exactly what i'm trying to say, in a game with no competition, you guys can't see if a run is optimized or not(not to the level you want me to optimize though, visible mistakes you can of course notice), while in a game like GE you can see the wr's and make your points solely from that. Just look at the first posts in this topic, when you didn't know the run didn't beat some wr's, you didn't see any mistakes. In this case you judge the run only by the numbers, not the entertainment/Perfection in the levels. The only diffrence between my run and a completely perfect run is some luck manipulation which there are no known ways to do.
So to summarize, in a game where the wr's suck or there are no competition at all the standards for acceptable TAS'es are alot lower than on high competition games. So poeple like me who TAS one of the most competed games ever have to work alot harder on a TAS then poeple making a run for [insert game with 0 competition], and even though my run is better than those the other still get accepted because the competition is lower. Even though it's in the rules and i get that you love your rules i still think you are forgetting the original purpose of a TAS, to entertain poeple. Personally if i were a watcher who didn't know much about goldeneye, visited this site and watched this run i'd think it was completely perfect. So new watchers don't care about the time, eliters care more about seeing a perfect run cause they already know where the maxes are, So who remains? Members of tasvideos.org. I.e your rule is only to satisfy yourselves, not others(In this case, in general i guess i can agree with it).

I think you misunderstood Wouter, he only said that it's meaningless to say you worked on it for 10 months when you only worked a few months. I.e he don't thinks you should include the number of months you worked on other stuff into the MK64 work time. Oh well anyways, The only thing i have left to say to defend my run is that it is actually just as optimized as RT's run, possibly even more, it's just that the wr's are ALOT closer to max than 00A. And sooner or later, A time from RT's run will be beaten by console players, At least frigate which actually was beaten but unfortunately it proved to be a fake time. SO what will happen to that run when the TAS time is beaten? It'll still be published but against the rules.
