Thanks alot. A bit suprised about Facility being so high considering i've done 42. Depot as well cause the only diffrence between that and my 25 was lookdown, and if loose roughly 25 hundreds on a 25 seconds level just because of no lookdown that would mean that you loose a tenth every 10 seconds!(Though i still don't believe that console looses more, that would just be wierd).

Umm okay you obviously know nothing about goldeneye. Sure if you go down the whole Objective C or whatever completes but there's still 2 objectives left!! You have to wait for everything to complete. Now if you think you've found a way to make the game think those 2 last objectives completed as well, then for gods sake make a vid, it would be the most ground breaking strategy in GE history. Also, the strat used was invented by me and is pretty ground breaking in itself saving rougly 14 seconds off the old strat. Anyways, i just watched the newly published .avi and i have some comments: The ending of a run should end when the last input that leads to "The end" is entered right? Well this run ends at "Time: 34", not the actual credits. Also i may be wrong but on several occasions it seems like the ending cinema is not clicked away at first possible frame, in my agent run you didn't even see the cinema while in this run like on Dam you see alot of it. (I guess this should've been brought up earlier but whatever)

Just thought i'd add the improved ending in case someone wants to see it: http://download.yousendit.com/FEC100243ADF8955 So anyways, some last comments on the run: You say the run is unoptimized because it doesn't beat all wr's, But what if you add some perspective, the-elite has the most maxed wr's in any game(maybe mario kart or something is better), so overall even by not beating the world records the run is still way more optimized then let's say Diddy kong racing run which actually got published. Of course i realize you want all world records to be beaten but as i said, the difficulty in doing that is very relative to which game your TAS'ing and how the game works. Also on the "bad choice to not use lookup in runway" comment, i might as well add that i loose time by not using lookdown as well, I could've saved a second on at least 2 levels by doing that. So i think some guidelines to exactly what should be used and not should be written before someone attempts an new run(which i doubt will ever happen). So in the end, i think the run is as good as it will ever get. Even if someone attempts an improvement i'm still not so sure it will be faster than this one. So the questions remains, Does goldeneye need another speedrun and is this run entertaining enough? Oh and one last thing, I'd really love to see a list of the exact times on each level. Especially Depot which should be extremely low??

Okay i gotta make a few things clear: RT didn't manipulate gate as far as i know, with his gate he probably wouldn't have gotten 53 either. For Runway, sure i could've used lookup, but as things seem there wouldn't have been an avi for several months. And finally streets, Lookdown does matter in TAS, i proved that in depot level. And the thing that made GL manipulation impossible in streets was that there was no real point where his position was determined. Even with same frame of ending cinema he was at diffrent positions, and neither i or simon sternis could find any real determination point. Besides, RT's run was not so optimal either, just look at frigate, it's ridiculous. If the 00 Agent console world records were as good as the Agent ones he wouldn't have tied the wr. Anyways, NFQ's posts got me thinking and i decided to try a redo of cradle, and i actually managed to get 33! So i'm not exactly sure what to do now, i suppose i'll have to replace the submitted m64 with the new one or something?

I didn't even know there was an in-level frame counter. Anyways, 4 frames should be possible, but i don't really know where it could be saved. Ok so explanations for the times that are slower than current world record: Dam - I have no idea how to manipulate the double gates. Runway - Because of the sky i chose not to throw grenades upwards which would've lead to more boosts and therefor wr. Streets - I tried but manipulation the grenade launcher dude was impossible, also i chose not to use lookdown in this run since so many poeple around here didn't like it, meaning more lag and worse time.

For Cradle if it's like you say NFQ that it's 34.05 then 33 might actually be a possibility, but it'd require a diffrent strat or a more optimal Trev in beginning(i think mine was pretty bad, not sure though).

I dunno about the cheats thing but yeah, Aztec and Egypt should definately be included in future run. The problem is how the movie would end of course. Button codes would solve that though :) If cheats were included the run would basicly be like this: Enter button codes for Aztec and Egypt Breeze through all levels except Cradle Beat Dam SA, Runway A, Surface SA, Silo A, Frigate SA, Bunker A, Statue SA, Streets A, Depot SA, Jungle A, Control SA, Aztec SA, Egypt 00A, Cradle A(Exit end screen with B), Cradle 00A Imo it's just too many levels, it's like twice as long as previous run. Many levels are not so fun to watch and long levels like Control are done twice etc Also i think secret agent difficulty run would be enough variation for it's own category but that's just me.

Well the reason i didn't do 00A was mainly cause Rising Tempest just finished his run and it's incredibly optimal already, i probably wouldn't be able to improve it, also i wanted this run to be as varied as possible, so choosing a diffrent difficulty seemed like the best way to do that. And lastly, it's always interresting(IMO) seeing a game completed in fastest possible time, which is exactly what this run does. I guess you could call it an any% run while Tempest's is 100%(if aztec and egypt is included). And for frigate, sure it's possible to do manipulation with angles and stuff but there's several problems making it practicly impossible to do: The randomness is decided exactly when the host takers die meaning you'll be in the middle of the pause when this happens, and you can't do angle stuff while in pause(can pause later too but that would loose alot of time. Secondly and most importantly, you need to manipulate both hostages at once, and since every host has like 6 diffrent routes that's 6*6=36 diffrent possibilies and getting the best possibility only happens like once every 100-200 frames. I figured the only possible way to do that kind of manipulation was by waiting out the pause, which also proved effective but not very esthetical. And about the mupen thing, I suppose because your text is overlined that it's not a problem anymore? Cause i've had poeple make avi's using that version. And i'm sorry for using that version but i didn't know there were any other diffrences other than the playback thing and it was theh only version i had configured when i started the run and i'm a bit lazy to configure the other version.

I guess i should say that i already did Control :P Well im basicly halfway through caverns, where manipulating boosts is a bitch, only got 1 so far. I think i'll still land on a time around 1:00-1:01. I'll try finish caverns today and then cradle shouldnt take too long. Submission hopefully before end of week.

Okay well appareantly i didn't have to check from beginning, beginning of Depot was enough. So Train done, Hopefully i'll finish Jungle today. I wanna make Control really insane and entertaining. Like shoot a message into the main room screen or something. Any suggestions of stuff you wanna see would be appreciated.

To answer the questions: Silo - I believe the only place where that would be possible is after 2nd plastique until 3rd one. I guess it's possible if you get the keycard but the problem is that the door leading out from the room where you place 3rd plastique will most likely be closed. I dunno if they can open it fast enough if you alert them after placing plastique. Also, you won't be able to warp doors or guards slowing you down significantly. So i believe it's slower overall. Jungle - Dunno which tree you mean but any warp based route is most likely possible and maybe faster cause the routes were adjusted for console playing where it's hard to make a perfect warp. One example is Statue where TAS route is faster cause of the warp. Control - You don't start with D5K, you get it from the guards. Caverns/Control - No I guess i could announce here too that i have an agent run in the making. It's going slowly for the moment though cause Train is impossible to TAS, i made a savestate in the beginning of the level, started tasing from there, did half the level, then when i replayed from savestate it worked fine but then from beginning it totally desynchs. So really i dunno how i'm supposed to do this level, can't watch the entire run every desynch check...

Just thought i'd add that the black box plane thing is not supposed to be there. It is not there when i play the movie in mupen and i've never actually seen it before until the avi.

I don't think Jack's gonna do Egypt, he'll probably end the run after Cradle. And i know the files work for some poeple. So hopefully someone will be able to make an avi for me.

I think it's becouse it was recorded with the antids version of Mupen. Doesn't work for me either with the normal version. Awesome run, so far i'd say it's more entertaining than the glitch runs, possibly because i've seen too many of those runs :p Anyways, keep up the nice work!

Actually the big timesaver with the 2.3 glitch is not destroying the screen but the fact that guards will be alerted and will open the roller door for ya. Anyways, Streets looked great, though are you sure that way is faster then strafing into wall trick to make Val see you sooner? Also, I'd love to hear a detailed explanation of your method of TAS'ing this game cause it seems like your using a both faster and better way than me? On the ideas part: Leave the comp room same way you enter. it should be a little faster. Though you'd need guards help to destroy mainframes. Also go for screen earlier than you did in this version but i'm sure you're already aware of that. You could try some methods to make boxes obj complete faster, maybe shooting the rocket launcher as well? But i dunno really i don't have any extensive knowledge of how those work. Getting a boost from the ending guards should be easy to manipulate though.

Run completed. Got a problem though, the movie file is much larger than 150kb(1,82mb zipped). So how exactly should i proceed to get the movie submitted?

Sinking Feeling done. Though not gonna post WIP this time. Anyways, Meltdown should be a pretty straightforward level so i suppose you can expect a submission by tommorrow.
