or perhaps to get an item early, but then collect it for real later.
This should definately be avoided :p
Ban RBA. End of my opinion =).

Just finished watching the AGDQ 2013 OoT runs today with Cosmo talking about this "theoretical" skip. I guess it wasn't so theoretical after all! I really expected this run would be pretty much like the old run except for the new skip. But as it turned out, i was completely wrong. Suprises everywhere throughout the run + ALOT of added entertainment + New strats = Perfect TAS (and yes vote).

Custom levels could be fun, but i'm not sure if there are any really well made levels out there? Been a while since i checked. I did try this once a few years ago but i'm pretty sure Mupen kept crashing when trying to TAS patched ROMs (or some other problem, in any case i couldn't make it work). Could anyone confirm that it's actually possible to TAS custom levels?

This looks incredibly promising^^ The potential for entertainment is almost limitless :) (btw, wouldn't it be cooler if second Mario was dressed like Luigi? :p)

Silo Finished Time: 1:03 (.283) M64: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/game/410 Despite being only a minute long, this level took nearly 3 months of work in total to finish. I managed to save nearly 5 seconds off the old run which is alot more than i had expected. I'm really glad that it's finally done and i hope the rest of the levels won't be as difficult as this one :p Enjoy.

I've doing tests with TAS movie files, and decided to make an input viewer to see how it would look.
Looks awesome, nice job :)

After seeing so many nearly identical 0-star runs i had kinda lost my interrest in SM64 TASes. This run changed that however! Super entertaining, incredible quality, awesome strategies etc etc etc... There's no such thing as a no vote for a run like this. And the category seems very well defined and argued for (i.e it doesn't feel "arbitary" at all) and provides much needed diffrence from 0 star/120 star runs. Fantastic job on this. (yes vote)

Co-op would likely be much lower quality run too in terms of perfection. The problem is that the input of one controller affects the outcome of the other player. Therefor it's often difficult to do one player at a time when trying to find correct inputs, since if you find correct input for Player 1 and then move on to player 2, player 1's input might not work anymore. This makes the whole process extremely tedious and very difficult to optimize.

Awesome progress ^^ Can't wait to see this run finished, even if it'll take nearly 8 hours to watch it all :P

Any% means by definition completing the game as fast as possible, by any means necessary.
Problem is that "completing the game" needs a clear definition.

Not really, lack of motivation + final year of school + Silo being really gay. It's probably gonna be a while before i continue this run (summer at best i'd say). I'll definately continue this someday though as it's such a needed improvement over current run and has turned out incredibly well so far.

Am I the only one surprised this hadn't been thought of before (BitDW red coins)?
Lol my thoughts exactly. It seems pretty obvious when you think about it. I guess SM64 is pretty hex-friendly so all new improvements found can be implemented without redoing everything?

So nothing happens at the end if you get all of the Dragon Coins? That makes it sound like an arbitrary goal, and I don't think it would be accepted.
You don't really need a diffrent ending or a special event to justify a 100% goal. You justify it by showing that it varies significantly from a normal any% run and shows off more of the game. Obviously the category should not be "too" arbitary. Besides, my memory might be wrong but nothing special happens when you get 96 exits right?
1) To collect all possible dragon coins including those in the sky level; 2) To collect at least five dragon coins in each level which possesses dragon coins.
I'd probably vote for option 2 and collecting only regular non-sky-level dragon coins. Using glitches to get to the sky levels are a problem otherwise and would make the run very uninterresting.

Desynch huh? I have definately tested the run from beginning and it should work fine. (I don't suppose Napalm resolution could make a diffrence?) About the warp, it's a matter of just a few frames and the faster method looks a bit like getting stuck. In the end the general viewer don't care about run being absolutely fastest but instead about visual perfection which is the primary goal of this run. As long as the endtime is the same, i might as well get it in the best looking way? :p

Well actually i've been pretty busy with school. I ran into alot of minor annoying problems after 2nd scientist room that makes it super duper difficult(impossible?) to recreate that section as well as last time. It's all extremely dependent on how much lag there is and other randomness, and when using correct quickpauses everything changes(ultimately loosing time). I also noticed that NOT warping out of 2nd scientist room was faster than warping lol. Looks bad though so i'm not gonna do that. Also on my newer attempts the KF7 comes out later after warping making stuff look bad urgh... Sure it would be easy just finish this and get a fast time but i've held super high quality on both speed and aesthetics so far and i can't accept anything that doesn't look just right. It's prolly gonna be a while before i work on this again so here's the progress so far: First attempt(with wrong quickpause) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/97958121/Henrik%20-%20Goldeneye%20007%20-%20Silo8%20-%20DAT%202287.m64 One of my redo attempts(correct quickpause) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/387992810/Henrik%20-%20Goldeneye%20007%20-%20Silo10%20-%201817%20warp.m64

Does it really make a diffrence? I haven't noticed any time loss at all by using cinema compared to full. So even if there's a larger diffrence with 16:9 + cinema it shouldn't be a full second and definately not on such a short level. So does this affect 00A anything? Is 41 possible?
