Redid Streets of Rome to pick up and use alot more flares, will be very useful for upcoming 2 levels: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/Wyster%20-%20TRC%20-%20Streets%20of%20Rome%20Redo%20-%20Finished.pjm I was gonna capture this and upload to YT but PSXJin has such severe crash issues that it's impossible for me to capture such long runs... (If someone else has a secret non-crashing version and can capture this it'd be much appreciated :) ) Appareantly my crappy laptop can use PSXjin without crashing, so here's the YT link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyyEb4Q1AlU

While i've never seen that particular way of OoB before, there is another VERY old one where you glitch through the door right next to you(after it's fully opened). This allows you to easily get back in the hangar. The problem with this glitch has always been that you need to get to Elvis, and he's in the little tunnel outside of elevator. Going back into hangar is actually slower than using elevator. I'm not sure if this new OoB can glitch to the tunnel?(if so it might be useful).

Windows media player? Lol, never use that. Media player classic works much better than VLC for such large files btw. It does slow down at times but at least you can see the movie.

Streets of Rome finished! (Turns out ALT shortcut doesn't work on PS version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APEd8oyGrRE .pjm: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/4d7d3ca16bff1_Wyster%20-%20TRC%283%29.pjm

Sounds very logical ^^ Thx for clearing this up. So if the only reason you get faster times is because timer counts lag frames, does that mean that a run aiming for real-time can skip lookdown completely? If so than that would definately be the goal for the next run. Too bad the only other minor improvements is 2.4 and some very minor strat changes on 2 levels or something... not enough to warrant an improvement run imo.

Speed addresses are constant and not dependent on lag i think. However it might be possible to check distance traveled/number of frames.

Lookdown actually saves time(why would we be using it otherwise? :p). This has been proven since many years back. Exactly why i'm not sure but it does(quite significantly too, on levels like streets it's a matter of several tenths).

Bringin this back to life... Started a little test run of TRC today(since that's the only PS-available TR i've actually beaten and am somewhat familiar with) and found myself stuck trying to activate the very first ALT glitch on Streets of Rome... I was curious if anyone knows exactly how to do this? I know you are supposed to get embedded in a wall, enter binoculars, look at the trigger square, then draw weapons. However i've tried this at pretty much every angle(though i have no idea where to aim and the blackness doesn't exactly help...) without success. Does ALT even work on PS version? Also since i'm not very familiar with route planning and the various available glitches i was thinking of only following the wr speedruns strats but perhaps there are some more other strats that aren't used for console speedrun but that a TAS can exploit? Here's the .pjm of my progress so far: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/Wyster%20-%20TRC.pjm Possible improvements?

i went to the end of the level after you threw the bug and it went to next level without any problem (i didn't use the falling glitch though, because it's annoying to do), so i don't see any reason to redo anything.
You don't have the latest version, in my new attempt i redid to watch more cinema(still identical file as one i posted until start of cinema). In this version i have done until the internal comms hub and from there it always fails to progress if i finish level. However, when i went back to middle of speech skip and tried to continue from there, it worked fine! All other spots i've tried(outside cass office/calling programmers elevator etc) have produced the bug. So my only conclusion is that something changes after speech skip but before calling the elevator.

I just mean that it seems useless to show a static completion screen :p I always imagined the vid being cut off as egypt cinema faded out. I guess both ways work.

In the .m64? No, the m64 format simply isn't made for including settings. About the run i found that the level progression is decided pretty early in the run(after speech skip roughly), which is bad since i'd have to redo most of the level(again...), and it was already hard as hell to manipulate a perfect programmer(i did see a low 59 "loggin on now" while playing in slo-mo but was never able to recreate it). I kinda wish to stay sane so i won't try to finish this level until more info on the progression glitch is found.

Great work Aktan! Perhaps the completion screen at the end could be trimmed away for the publication? :p
