Desktop Tower Defense?:) Dolphin Olympics 2? And a great game to TAS would be Elephant Quest: http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/elephant-quest

What Windows games (preferably ones that are possible to TAS with Hourglass atm?) you want to see TASed the most? My boring list of what came to mind first: Cave Story Dink Smallwood Elasto Mania GeneRally Grand Theft Auto? Iji IWBTG Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Super Meat Boy Turbo Sliders To be updated as more complex games become supported ;)

But where and from what calculation does the speed come from? Bug bounces can be both just slightly faster than regular bounces or cause a speed that can not survive any impact with an obstacle... Also I've had bug bounce where the bike stays still but one of the wheels ejects itself a huge distance into the air without moving the rest of the bike at all.

The conditions LOOK the same for both reproducible bounces which don't add any speed but just change the direction of movement and bugged bounces which do unpredictable things. I'm not very familiar with memory value fishing so someone else might find something there much easier. The bike is capable of a lot of crazy stuff :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dywi1Eo8Rzg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUevhnTjw20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxI3G2R5TLg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xcXaNq9icU And here is a fantastic documentary made for the 10 year anniversary of the game about the history and development of Elma scene for anyone who might be interested in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhujtzYD0VM Also, here are some new tool assisted replays made with other non-public tools that significantly improve upon legally driven WRs: Warm Up 13.84: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7776Nzb0kw0 Hi Flyer 23.52: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izSBT7uo78U Downhill 39.99: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfJ-f6w5t5Y Some used slightly bugged bounces though.

If anybody has any idea how to reverse and understand those bug bounces I have plenty of various replays so message me on IRC.

I'm not sure about the "bug" bounces that cause extreme speed as the only times people ever get them are by accident. More than 99% of the time pressing brakes when a wheel is under pressure just cause a regular bounce without any added speed which is easily controllable and reproducable. Bug bounces, however, are not. They happen sometimes and I suppose /can/ happen in any place where sufficient pressure can be applied to a wheel. But nobody knows exact circumstances that would trigger the abnormal boosted speed ejection. However, I do agree the apple collecting bug could be entertaining to abuse and not that difficult to pull off. It's most commonly encountered in level 53, Hooked. People get times like 14:00 and gotta use a bug time removing software to fix up their stats. But the bounce bugs are so insanely uncontrollable that I see no way they could be optimally abused in any way besides a few levels like level 30 and for that reason I just don't see it as a realistic goal to aim for because aiming to get an uncontrollable boost from every possible spot to go in a desired direction and a desired speed (not too fast as to make you die but fast enough) and to manage to pick apples with both wheels at the same time while zooming around like that... It's just too much even for tools that we have.

I've confirmed that it is currently possible to run it with Hourglass and it runs and syncs normally, besides the bug which jumps over every second selection in menus. As a long time insider of Elasto Mania community I can also confirm that the anticheating team has tools that can tell the difference between replays made legit and replays made with tool assists so the legit records will remain safe. Assuming a perfect Elasto Mania TAS was to be made... What would be the restrictions bug/glitch wise? What I mean is that there are several well known bugs within the game that the community don't allow to be abused in any competitions. Some of them are: - If you touch an apple with both wheels or a wheel and the head at the same time the game will count it as two apples allowing you to skip an apple (or more if abused additional times successfully) to finish the level. - Sometimes and under certain conditions when pressure is applied to a wheel and brakes are pressed, an abnormally powerful ejection occurs, sending the bike at high speed in some direction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIZcTO9Hwy4 This does not apply to "bounce" boosts that can be reproduced easily and don't give any more speed than the bike had before pressing brakes. What else comes to mind: The game behaves slightly differently at different FPS values. Lower FPS such as 30 allows the bike to spin faster (by unsignificant value but still, useful in level 2) and to possibly pass a wheel through gaps between vertices that are narrower than the width of a wheel (essential in level 27), as well as wheels behaving abnormally when trapped in spaces narrower than themselves. Higher FPS (200+, achieved with vsync turned off) doesn't allow it to happen and improves the grip with the ground and makes performing bounce tricks easier. Which version of the game would have to be used? Versions 1.11h and newer are "unofficial" but used by everyone as they contain essential game enhancing configuration options such as binding the "supervolt" move (faster clockwise volting) to one key which normally takes 2 keys to pull off and is much more difficult. The newest unofficial version is 1.3 which is still in public beta and can be found here: http://beta.elmaonline.net/?s=help and features automated online statistics and multiplayer gameplay and real time battles (short competitions on fresh levels) among other things.

That's a nice find, I'm working on a Keen 1 run atm, this should greatly help if it works.

Hello, all, been lurking (mostly around the DOS TAS projects) ever since the first implications they might be possible. So I'm starting to experiment with jPC-rr myself and I'm wondering about a few things I have no idea about. Using example of Commander Keen, how would I go about finding out and comparing the values of things like horizontal or vertical movement speed or jump height when in different circumstances such as colliding with something etc.? And about manipulating luck, what would I have to do if I wanted to manipulate a vorticon to do a really high jump it sometimes does in a desired direction so I could run under it without slowing down? Is pressing a key that doesn't delay my movement such as pogo mid-air enough for it to behave differently? And what is the most common way people TAS games - with frame advance all the way through? Should I backup my movie files often in case they desync?

Looked really sloppy, unoptimized jumps, unnecessary waits, detour for ammo in first level isn't needed, you can take ammo in the clouds after exiting the tower that takes less time. Not to mention the boss.

Anyone up for this game? If I ever find the time to do it I might tackle it myself but meanwhile I can share some useful info for a potential TAS Useful resources: - http://ttf.mine.nu/ - a fansite including all level maps and known secrets/tricks - http://www.youtube.com/tomarrakechandback - a channel with playthroughs (and showing some shortcuts) of all levels - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zyrJ7SbHFQ - an any% run of the whole game (skipping levels 9-13 as explained below) in 14 mins, a good reference - 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIDGApuczsSw 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vYbHg9H-D4a - 100% (all levels) run of the game Tricks: - Getting hit by enemies or their projectiles gives a movement boost which is of course to be abused as much as health allows it - Enemies can be picked up and thrown when they are facing away from you though I'm not sure if it's useful in this case - Throwing an item upwards or dropping it downwards kills enemies without losing the item - The lamp code in Level 8 is used to reach Level 14. The any% run used it to skip levels 9-13. Personally I'm not sure if this would be a legit skip entertainment-wise... Routes: Level 1: As in the any% run, except damage boost off everything instead of skipping it Level 2: Just run right and damage boost off everything Level 3: As in any% but a faster way instead of going underground might be to get the first spring, get the flying carpet and cross to the other side of the next junkpile and then use the spring to bounce up to get to the boss where the level code is (Might be possible to get up there using just the carpet). Level 4: As in any% Level 5: There are 2 routes - a shortcut in mid-top of the level and the normal. The former is probably faster even though takes a while to set up. So, as in any%. Level 6: As in any%, but there is a straight route from left to right by dropping diagonally once near the top of the construction site building Level 7: As in any% and might be tricky but possible to get to the top hardly killing anything. This video shows a possible strategy for the boss but straightforward repeated throwing is probably faster. Level 8: This video shows the major shortcuts first of which the any% didn't use ******* Optional if the lamp code is used as a legit skip of levels 9-13 Level 9: Several different routes to reach the boss, the one in the 100% run is probably the fastest. This seems to be a fast way to kill the boss Level 10: As in the 100% run Level 11: As in the 100% run, except with this shortcut Level 12: As in the 100% run Level 13: Simply use the shortcut as in this video ******* Level 14: The any% has it down pretty good, though might be possible to boost across the tall chimney with a lower stack Level 15: <3 I really hope somebody will pick this project up ;)

Just noticed that the run linked in first post is mine from like 4 years ago which someone has kindly uploaded without credit :) Some more notes: - One might want to manipulate travelling in desired direction standing on those red bouncy things as it's faster than walking - Playing on Hard might be more entertaining as there's more stuff to dodge and so on but also a bit more limiting since your max jump height is significantly slower, an odd feature I've never seen in any other games - Use of save glitching is debatable... Lowers entertainment value imo. - A 100% (all levels) run could be fun.

Does Jazz move faster than any type of bullets travel? Is it maybe faster to use the blue launcher to trigger end of level sign earlier at 1:40?

I too wonder if a Jazz submission should include the rest of the episodes as well... Still, this is the most entertaining DOS run so far.
