A guy called DarMoeD was effectively TASing ElastoMania with selfmade tools over 5 years ago. He was caught (it can be detected in the replay files) and all the WRs were removed but still, since then all of those records have been beaten legitimately. And since the last EDQ several new incredible tricks have been discovered, some of them have not been shared to the public though so we can only guess (51,8 in 9. Tunnel Terror, holy fuck).

I can't wait for a day when it will be TASable. I've been playing ElastoMania (the sequel of Action Supercross) for about 8 years, more or less, so I'm pretty good at it. Not at the god-tier of professionals but not far behind either. Btw, ElastoMania Online (EOL) unofficial patch/addon is currently in beta and to be released to public within weeks and will allow multiplayer, competitions and all the statistics you can imagine online and automated. I'm working on a video to showcase its new features.

So as my first project I will pick the first 3 games of the series. Mind you I'm a complete newbie in the whole TAS thing so this will probably take me a while and I hope to learn along the way. Besides the games being quite straightforward I already know of a couple tricks, like corner jump boosts (allowing to skip a whole level in Keen 2 for example). There are also some clipping errors near ceilings (at least I know of one in Keen 1). And of course looking forward to manipulating the hell out of Vorticon swarms in Keen 2 and 3 :) What I still need to figure out is in what position exactly the corner jumps are triggered in. I already did non-TAS runs for these games so the routes are pretty clear for me. One more question is about a bug/cheat (feature?) that allows walking through levels on the map thus skipping even those that are supposed to be in the way when holding Shift and Tab. It's listed as a cheat code in most places so should it be not allowed? I avoided it in my non-TAS runs. Anyone have any ideas, feel free to throw them at me, I'll also be on IRC ;)

http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/viewnews.php?id=133336 Seriously, it puzzles me how big TV stations and other media fall for an obvious hoax set up by 3 random guys.

TIM? Most contraptions have only 1 solution and it's mouse/click based..

Anyone of you guys play good old Elma? My total time for the internal levels is 39:56,57 (barely outside world top50). Been playing for about 4 years now. A new patch was made a few months ago, letting people play online and see others - check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q43jhmajgdY

Yesterday I checked out my DOS games folder and chose those that would produce interesting TASes.. For the moment, I believe platformers would be the most popular so, - Bio Menace - a rather lengthy platformer (3 episodes ~15-20 mins each), lots of shooting, bosses and death abuse - Commander Keen (all 7) - the first games being more about precise jumping, 6th one has ton of glitches so that might be the most interesting piece - Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure - that creature can stick to walls!! Pretty unusual platformer but a classic nevertheless - Crystal Caves - some potential in this classic too - Dangerous Dave 2 - a lot of hard and deadly monster-dodging and planned use of the limited and slowly reloadable ammunition would make this one interesting - Duke Nukem 1 - don't think you need comments on this one - ElectroBody - one of the slowest platformers I know but it does become very hard towards the end - Hocus Pocus - haven't played much but seemed runnable - Jazz Jackrabbit - of course, probably the best candidate for entertainment value. A bunch of pretty short episodes. - Monster Bash - pretty good - Nicky Boom - cute platformer with long and puzzling levels and hard bosses, pretty underrated - Prehistorik - that classic caveman game everyone loved, this would require well planning cause it requires a certain amount of food to pass a level, very many choices everywhere, thus interesting - Prehistorik 2 - a lot shorter than the first game because of no food requirement, this would consist of precise jumps, a few glitches and short boss fights. Yeah. - Secret Agent - quite long and puzzling levels, not bad - Titus the Fox - considered as one of the hardest platformers ever, this would be mostly enemy-dodging, intentional damage boosting and fast boss fights, thus pretty fun - Ugh! - very original taxi game. 70 or so levels with tons of hard maneuvres - good candidate. and of course, when the FPSes become fully supported there's no stopping for Blood, Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein, Descent, Hexen, Duke Nukem, etc. etc. etc. and etc. also, there's a number of good RPGs like Arena, Daggerfall, Wastelands, Nethack (!) I wouldn't mind some unusual ones such as Death Rally, The Incredible Machine, Action Supercross, Grand Prix Circuit, Crime Fighter either. I'd do some of the platformers myself (CK's, Titus, Prehistorik, Jazz) but the rerecording Dosbox has some problems running here, and pressing ALT (used in most platformers) freezes the game until pressed again :/
