I played this game a lot back in the day and have wanted to watch a good TAS of it for a while, so it's good to hear someone is working on it. After watching your WIPs, I have some suggestions: - First of all, I recommend you using Team Battle mode and controlling both characters in all the fights to avoid stopping some of them as they start for the second player to enter, which I think would break the flow of the run. Also, I'm sure controlling both characters would result in far more interesting matches. - Make juggling the main goal of your run. Juggles have a lot of potential for entertainment and are one of the most impressive things one can do in Tekken games. As I'm sure you have noticed, I'm not the first member to point this out. - Use Dr. Bosconovitch and try to not repeat characters. - Perform a few unblockable attacks along the run (the ones you think are more spectacular). - Include some reversals (I particularly like Anna's reversal of Jin's Lightning Godfist and Jin's reversal of Yoshimitsu's Sword Impale) and chickens. King has pretty impressive reversals overall. - Most players have not seen all the side grapples of the game, so showing some of them would be a good idea. Jin is my favorite character. Here is a video with pretty cool stuff you can do with him. Good luck!

if it's at all possible you should be trying to get all seven Emeralds with just Sonic. I don't think the first one is possible to reach in unassisted play (or maybe I just wasn't good enough)
Actually, getting to the first special spring with Sonic is pretty easy.

As ridiculous as this idea sounds, I like it.

The current TAS of this game is now improvable by at least 4 seconds... Link to video

Nice run and submission text. I like how the protagonist does honor to the game's name by performing several ridiculous jumps along the run. Some of the vertical stages are pretty intense, as well as the last boss fight. I find this run kinda hypnotizing. Also, the plot is hilarious. If only jumping didn't slow you down... By the way, you are doing an excellent job at filling in the holes in the NES TAS catalogue. You should take a look at Hudson Hawk.

I suggest using the median of all votes instead of the average. It's robuster and should be easy to implement.

It's awesome when a player's first submission is of such a high quality that it has chances to win more than one award. Good job! Many of the tricks and shortcuts you discovered are impressive. Your mom should be proud of you. :D

While feos may need to avoid Internet forums, you may want to improve your netiquette.
It's so deliciously ironic when someone pontificating about "netiquette" comes across as a massively arrogant douchebag themselves. Congratulations, Zeupar. And sorry to let you down douche, but I will continue to state my opinion about games in whatever tone I wish to. If that offends certain people (yourself included, apparently), that is their problem.
Yeah, the fact that your response reinforces my advice is pretty ironic as well, heh. Anyway, I hope you actually spent some time thinking about what I said after your outburst, if only to avoid wasting your time in this kind of arguments in the future.

I think both Saethori and Cardboard used the entertainment part of the rating system to evaluate Swordless' personality instead of the run, which I didn't expect from any of them. One seems to try to hide this fact with rhetoric and the other didn't even bother explaining his clearly unfair rating. Anyway, I don't mean to offend them with this message. It's simply how I see it, and I'm sorry if I'm completely wrong.

This TAS appears to be very well done, and it's quite different from most runs that normally hit the workbench. I enjoyed it a lot. By the way, Lomax told me that he misses you. :P

Simply amazing. I didn't imagine the previous run was so improvable, but you found an incredible amount of new tricks and shortcuts. I enjoyed most of the playarounds at the end of each act and liked the detailed submission text. Thank you for making this awesome TAS, Aglar. I have created a poll with my suggested screenshots.

May I suggest that instead of saying "Sonic, no Ultraspindash", we call this run "Sonic, low glitch"? We have a run for Pulseman that is tagged as "low glitch", and I think the terminology is cleaner. Also, the purpose of leaving out Ultraspindashing is the same as the reason for avoiding the screen-jerk bug in Pulseman: take out one large glitch that drastically changes gameplay.
There is also the Sonic the Hedgehog "no zips" run. In my opinion, "low glitch" is too vague. I think having a more specific branch is better, especially in cases like this where a single movement (or trick, glitch, etc.) isn't used. By the way, I have created a poll with the different screenshots.

Awesome. I'm glad to see you have finally finished the first Sonic run you started. The wait was well worth it. My favorite parts are the acts where you manage to stay off-screen and the second act of Angel Island Zone. I also noticed that you improved a couple boss fights compared to your other run of this game. :o Possible screenshots:

That's great to hear. What sort of times did you get in total?
I think you'll be even happier with your time for Terminal Velocity. I've tried everything I could think of a dozen times over the course of three days. My final time was only 1'28"54. I did manage to save a frame from delaying the Laser hit, so it moved down from 1'28"55. I'll have the rest of my times in my submission.
Now see, I thought I was roughly 15 frames of perfect due to button mashing. This pleases me :3
your game’s timer is bugged
The fact that you can't beat his record doesn't mean his game is broken. Do you know what modesty is? It's a really useful quality!

@all Do you think my goals are okay?
In my opinion, this set of goals (in order of priority) would make for a better run: - 100% completion - No death - Aims for in-game time instead of real time - Aims for fastest real time

Awesome discoveries, skychase. You have made the no rings challenge possible, and that's admirable.

would it be possible to keep the mc1 level ending the same (or similar) I'm sort of fond of that ending where tails is looking for sonic.
Definitely yes, since I'm running out of ideas of what to do at the end of the levels anyway. However, when looking at the end of MC1 in your run, it doesn't seem look the same as you're explaining it here. Maybe you meant a different level?
You are right; he was referring to the end of the first act of Aquatic Ruin Zone. By the way, I hope you go for fastest in-game time on the second act of Casino Night Zone, unlike the authors of the latest run.

Very nice. I loved your strategies in Skatestreet and The Bullring because I didn't expect them. Was it you who came up with them? Did you test if grinding up that slope after 50-50'ing Joey's sculpture was faster than going up normally? I wonder if you can somehow manipulate the songs that play without losing time. By the way, I would like to see a row for totals in your table. Did you notice that this TAS is almost as long as your run of the first game? Will you TAS Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 now? :P

I think the GBA version would make for a good TAS.
