Real time world record by Jiano. The run starts around 15 minutes in. I wish someone ignored the infamous barrier and started working on this. :(

How about we make a new movie tag, something like "Prematurely triggers credits/endgame", since a lot of these movies seem to exist now?

what this game plays against is that we must take the lowest possible number of rings and if you take a few, began to gain weight and becomes slower, then for a TAS, you must not take any ring.
How is that against it? Sonic 2 XL is a perfect excuse to make a different (low-ring) TAS of Sonic 2 without having to set random goals (like low-ring), since it forces players to avoid collecting (onion) rings to be fast, which would result in interesting new routes through the game. I have never been interested in hacks, but this one and the upcoming Sonic Classic Heroes are too cool to not try them.

Yeah, that's possible.

(yes it is semi-ot but I would love to see a 100% run of Sonic 2 Heroes or of the upcoming Sonic 1&2 Heroes)
I'm pretty sure the first thing marzo will do once he is done with his hack is to rape it badly with tools. He is making the hack non-TAS-friendly because of that. On a related note, let me stress that Sonic 2 XL would make for an awesome TAS.

GoddessMaria's role GoddessMaria's role was mostly as an informer, although she worked on the TAS a bit. The parts that she did were mostly overworld stuff, as well as one battle.

I can see how the "glitched" adjective can be a bit redundant since most (if not all) the movies on this website are glitched at least to some extent, but we should always think about the occasional viewer who doesn't know very much about TASes and stumbles upon one of those movies by chance. It's hard enough to avoid being called cheaters, we might as well warn them in advance that some major glitchfesting is going to happen. On the other hand, "manipulates luck" is a category, and not a branch name. I'm not sure what to think here. In the lack of a better option, the existing system probably isn't that bad.
Did you read my proposal before writing your message? Because it would avoid redundancy while still warning newcomers...

I was hoping for an emerald run, but really good run neither the less.
Many other people, including me, would like to see an emerald run, but when there was one, here, it was rejected, and with reasonable motivations, too. So unless an emerald run is more than very excellent I doubt it will be approved here (even though I'd probably vote yes on it).
I disagree. The game is much more broken now, so a 100% run would be quite different from both this and the "no zips" run, which means that it would most likely be accepted as a new branch.

Don't you mean Marble Volcano? :P I would like to suggest the following screenshots:

If you decide to do a max score run instead I think you should use sonic 2 and knuckles since the score attacks as knuckles involve crazy, long combo chains, and are really fun to TAS.

So we could still have the current "any%" category and the one with incomplete credits could be "glitched" (or, since a lot of people think that terminology sucks, then "broken credits" or "null-spit version" whatever)
I don't see any problem with the "glitched" category. Yoshi's Island, this game's sequel, has a run with a big game-breaking glitch, which is under the branch "glitched". Meanwhile, the normal any% run has loads of small glitches, but is not labeled "glitched" or given any special branch, though it also uses glitches. So I would say that this new run should be labeled "glitched" too, because of its one huge game-breaking glitch.
I am one of the people who dislike the "glitched" branch name. I don't want to derail this topic further, so let me direct you here for my reasons.

To get it to work it should be a very arbitrary goal such as "high score, no deaths, no special stages". I therefore think "high score" would be a bad idea.
I don't mind people choosing seemingly arbitrary goals when the resulting runs are as good as this one.

Good job with the second act of Sweet Mountain! I loved it.

Since Globotron was exactly the same (Attacking on frame 318 of the fight) in both the old WIP and the new WIP, but Captain Jelly is different (16 frames faster) and nothing after entering Sweet Mountain's Hub had an effect, then I'm left with only one assumption. Killing Globotron faster than the old WIP changed the RNG. The transitions from everything after the fight to Sweet Mountain's hub are optimal, and idling in hubs doesn't effect the RNG even if one WIP of the two hadn't been.
Didn't you use different versions of the game in those two WIPs? Maybe the RNG works differently in each version.

I won't watch this movie any soon because I want to play the game first, but I just wanted to say that it is awesome seeing a submission from you after all these years. I have the intention to edit this post in the future to add my opinion about the movie, but I could forget about it.
