The same amount of time that the game remains paused. Did you guys try that pause trick with other bosses? I assume that you did, but want to be sure.

This run is hilarious, especially the boss battles. It looks optimized. Good job, RingRush.

This is well deserving of one of my extremely rare 10s for technical quality! I genuinely can't see how this could be improved by any considerable amount.
Frame perfection isn't the only factor that you have to consider when rating the technical quality of a movie. I recommend you reading this.

Mirror's Edge, Dead Rising (the sequel is probably much better), Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie, Tekken 6, Perfect Dark XBLA and Trials HD.

I have noticed some incoherences and omissions regarding the tags of certain movies. - Genre: *[836] GBA Metroid Fusion "0%" by Dragonfangs in 1:13:26.73 has the action, adventure and platform genre tags, while [1234] GBA Metroid Fusion "100%" by BioSpark in 1:35:49.53 has only the action and platform genre tags. - Non-fastest completion goals *[779] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "Knuckles, 100%" by upthorn in 45:28.60, [1019] SMS Sonic the Hedgehog 2 "best ending" by mike89 in 18:44.28, [1656] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles by nitsuja, upthorn & marzojr in 29:51.20, [597] GBA Sonic Advance 3 by nitsuja in 35:56.75, [600] Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by nitsuja in 19:55.43, [1401] Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog by FuzZerd, upthorn & carretero in 15:51.73 and [1665] GBA Sonic Advance by Mukki in 10:46.52 are missing the "Aims for in-game time instead of real-time" tag. - Categories *[1387] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "Sonic, 100%" by marzojr in 55:48.80 and [1656] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles by nitsuja, upthorn & marzojr in 29:51.20 are missing the "Uses a sub-optimal character" tag. - Using/Avoiding time-saving techniques *[600] Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by nitsuja in 19:55.43 is missing the "Heavy glitch abuse" tag. *[468] GBA Sonic Advance 2 by nitsuja in 18:44.97 is missing the "Takes damage to save time" tag. Regarding [597] GBA Sonic Advance 3 by nitsuja in 35:56.75, the author didn't aim strictly for fastest in-game time, but he didn't aim for fastest real time either. Having into account that fastest in-game time has a higher priority than fastest real time in his goal list, I think that adding the "Aims for in-game time instead of real-time" tag to this movie is better than not doing so, which might lead viewers to think that the run aims for fastest real time, which is the default and would be wrong in this case. Therefore, I have added said tag. If you think that this needs more discussion, let me know.

I found it quite boring. I am sorry, x2poet, but, in my opinion, this TAS isn't publication-worthy because the game is awfully repetitive.

Players like adelikat and Randil got over 2000 points a while ago. In my opinion, this is a sign that we should add a new player rank. I propose having a "Master player" rank for players who get more than 3999 points. What do you think about it?

Honestly, I will vote meh or no on a movie that uses the new pixel trick in a full game run.
I would do the same on a movie where the player doesn't use the new pixel trick. I am probably in the minority in this case, but I think like a speedrunner and can't help it.

We should be able to do this with a bit of extreme luck. There might be other ways, like changing mario's position to be close to the credits block early, or something along those lines.
Do you plan on looking into it?

Good job, RR. Seeing you go through the water sections without abusing any glitch felt odd. xD

Thank you for the encode, mmarks. That was impressive. I like what you did with Tails at the end of the first act of Aquatic Ruin Zone. :D I recommend you doing something like this at the end of the third act of Metropolis Zone, because it looks really cool.

Nice improvement. The uncertainty about whether or not this is actually possible in a real Game Boy is what stops this movie from being amongst my favourites. I have selected three screenshots: If the authors like any of them, I will optimize it.

The game is a bit slow, but I liked the mix of genres and enjoyed this movie, which looked optimal. I wish that more players wrote submission texts as detailed as that of this movie. I have selected a few screenshots: Bag of Magic Food, if you like any of them, let me know and I will optimize it. Edit: The chosen screenshot is optimized now.

All of the encoders are awesome because they make my life easier, but if I have to choose just one I pick Aktan.

I have just found out that some players have rated their own movies, and I think that some discussion on the matter would be good. In my opinion, such practice isn't appropriate because, having into account the amount of time and effort than they take, I don't think that rating your own TASes objectively is possible.

I have resolved to stop working on this game, so I have decided to share what I had done so far (just the first act) in case someone is interested in TASing this gem. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1447592189/stt-gt1-sonic.mmv I used Sonic the Hedgehog - Triple Trouble (U) [!] and Dega MAME Core to record it.

[1665] GBA Sonic Advance by Mukki in 10:46.52 Edit: After reading adelikat's post, I have decided to nominate the following two TASes that had already been mentioned when I posted: [1656] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles by nitsuja, upthorn & marzojr in 29:51.20 [1536] GBC Looney Tunes "warp glitch" by Aqfaq & Sonikkustar in 03:53.97
