I agree that this is a good idea. I wonder how will you improve that 0:29:93.

Great TAS of an interesting game.

IMO the most broken game would be one where glitches are so frequent that they become a core part of the real-time metagame.
When I read that, Sonic Adventure came to my mind.

If I remember correctly there is one frame that can be saved in the last Bowser fight thus bringing the time to 5:04.70, but last time I checked I assumed that sadly they didn't want to include it because it doesn't look as good and keep the current way to end the Bowser fight as a speed/entertainment tradeoff.
I still can't believe that they want to include a speed/entertainment tradeoff in this run. Come on guys, you are supposed to be frame whores!

I don't know of any other instance where turning off music saves time. I think that the discovery is too curious to not take advantage of it, but take into account that I think like a speedrunner and dislike speed/entertainment trade-offs, which isn't the case for most TASers.

Are you sure? I didn't see a single "ballkick" in the first stage. I voted "meh" due to bad game choice.

I think it is an actual 3D holograph. Notice how the character is facing the directions accordingly when there are different camera angles.
I don't think so. From Wikipedia: "Hatsune Miku has performed onstage in what appears to be a dynamic hologram but is likely to be just a 2D projection on a transparent screen based on Pepper's ghost technique". That assumption makes far more sense than believing that 3D holograms like that are possible with current technology. Anyway, I agree that the result is awesome. :o

http://www.youtube.com/Zeupar I have videos of speedruns and glitches. I may upload TASes in the future if I get round to doing them, which I have been saying for months. >_>

It's also very very very slow to encode, and... really... not very practical for HD encoding. At all.
It looks great compared to HQx, though.

I purchased this great game recently and have played it a lot. Ryuto, I have watched your awesome TAS of this game and wonder if you have considered TASing the challenge mode. I would love it.

HQx encode incoming. But criticaluser, I have a question for you. Since now we can include a single YouTube stream in a publication, you'll have to choose one YouTube stream. Both are in high definition. Do you want Flygon's point-resized encode? It looks like these screenshots : 1 2 Or, do you want my HQx filtered encode? It looks like these screenshots : 1 2
I don't think that that should be up to the author. We should be consistent and link to the same type of encode in all the publications (of TASes where both types are available) after reaching a consensus about it. As for my opinion on the matter, I prefer point-resized encodes because they look more faithful to the original.

[17:35] <Mukki> Zeupar: I'll add information about the tricks nitsuja used, the new tricks that I found, a level by level analysis etc. It might take a little while . In the meantime, you can read this.

I discovered a similar glitch three years ago, while I was speedrunning one of the acts of Music Plant Zone on my Game Boy Advance SP. If you want to do some testing, I can tell you the exact point of the map where it occurred.

This is an excellent TAS. I didn't see this coming. Good job, Mukki! I would like to pass comment on some acts: - Neo Green Hill Zone Act 2: Did you try using a Spin Attack to deliver the last hit to the boss to see if it was faster? - Secret Base Zone Act 1: At 0:15:4X, you could have released the rope as you grabbed it by pressing "A" and "down", saving some time. - Casino Paradise Zone Act 2: Sonic doesn't seem to touch the boss in the final hit. Could you explain that? - Angel Island Zone Act 2: It feels like you could have manipulated Mecha Knuckles better to make him do more Spin Dashes, defeating him faster as a result. - Egg Rocket Zone Act 1: I liked the graphic glitch that could be seen at the end of this stage in nitsuja's TAS. Do you know how to make it happen? If you do, why didn't you include it? - X-Zone: I like what you did after defeating the second boss to prevent the explosions from being heard. ;) I recommend you to expand your comments, because detailed comments make TASes far more enjoyable in most cases. You could link to nitsuja's comments in the submission text or even create a section for Sonic Advance in Game Resources to explain the tricks and strategies used to TAS it. This TAS is possibly amongst the glitchiest TASes of this year. I suggest this screenshot: ^The world turned upside down.

I think that the screenshot suggested by Marzo is too dark. After talking with him about it, I decided to select a few screenshots to see if people prefer one of them. Beware of the glitched penis!

So what you are saying is that we can't take out most of the glitches then :-p
The key words were "as well as". ;D
marzojr wrote:
For "no" glitches, most of the ultra high jumps, as well as slope jumping, would have to be removed as they are technically a form of abusing the game physics.
Do you really class "ultra high jumps" and "slope jumps" as glitches? If that is the case, I guess that we have a different concept of what a glitch is. :/
marzojr wrote:
And anticipating your objection: most of the ultra high slope jumps also cannot be done reliably unassisted; so if you want to take out one, you have less reason not to take out the other.
In my opinion, anything that has been done at least once in real time and doesn't involve abusing a glitch, could be included. We should try to reach an agreement about what can be considered a glitch and what can't, which I am sure that won't be easy. :P

I would argue in favor of "low-glitch" over "glitchless" because there are plenty of minor glitches that can be utilized, like the Knuckles/switch confusion in Angel Island.
I have to disagree, I'd rather get rid of all the glitches (and not just some of them, which would be arbitrary) if we're taking this route. The switch confusion isn't a "minor" glitch as it definitely requires TAS techniques to be performed on purpose, and therefore one could argue that it shouldn't be used. The camera abuse in vertical wrapping levels, instead, can be done in real time and would be a much better candidate if you wanted to include "some" glitches in a "low glitch" run. I don't think the debate would come to unanimity, so "no glitches at all" is probably to be recommended.
I completely agree. I would leave out all glitches as well as any trick that can't be done in real time. In my opinion, "low glitch" is a pointless category.

Moreover, several levels feature jumps into locations that should be impossible for Sonic to do, but are managed anyway with high speed and slope jumping (Hydrocity 1, Marble Garden 1 & 2, Mushroom Hill 2, Sandopolis 1, Death Egg 1).
If those are possible in real time, I think that using them would be fine.
