We should un-obsolete everything from Walker-Boh because he's a pretty cute hunk and he paved the way for a lot of the hunks we have on this site today.

So what you're saying is that we should be avoiding any chips that we don't want to mass produce, thereby a) increasing the rate of reproduction and b) stabilizing the rate of producing newer, better chips?

Honest question: what is the source of entertainment for this run? Sure, you will have the speed from planning which puzzles are fastest/giving the answers immediately, but why is that good to watch?

andymac wins. Turning off 'sync samples with sound cpu' totally fixed the freezing problems.

It still occurs even with the updated version. Watching BoF2 run and it has started freezing at the ~20k mark. It's an improvement, but not a total fix.

I haven't booted up 1.43 v9 in a while, but I wanted to check out Janus' BoF1/2 runs. I tried to run the ROM and video via my external hard drive, where I keep my emulators, but snes9x froze up about 3000 frames in to the movie. This usually only happens when the input display is turned on, but it has been happening without the tool activated as well. If I close my laptop (sets it to standby) and reopen, the playback will continue for another few thousand frames before freezing up again. Holding down the turbo button keeps the playback from freezing, but it will usually lock up as soon as I release the turbo speed. I can also sometimes break the problem using turbo, but this is no way to watch a playback... I am running Vista. I have tried running snes9x as an Admin, using XP and 2000 compatibility. It still freezes up every time I activate input display, and it happens with other ROM/smv combinations. In case the external hard drive was the problem, I copied the folder to my desktop, but the problem is persisting. I did a quick search of the forums and haven't seen anything about this problem yet. Does anyone know what I need to change to fix this?

Buying the PS3 as a Blu-ray player is a more informed purchase than buying it for the games was. The amount of good PS3 exclusive games is fairly terrible. Honestly, if they port Demons Souls to the PC, I can't think of anything that would drive me to spend that much money on a folding@home processor.

Is .pkmn still working? I liked being a Bug/Flying Zurreco. Furthermore, it would be cool if you had a '.tas <game>' function that would link to all runs under that name on the site. As in, '.tas Super Metroid' would link to all Super Metroid runs, while '.tas Metroid' would bring up all Metroid runs, including SM. Put a limit on requests per time and it would be a good tool.

You can always remap certain keys to overlap functions. Say, if you need both characters moving to the right while jumping, have right and jump for both on the u (for example). It allows you to input multiple commands without overloading your keyboard.

No, I'm talking about exclusive titles. If the game can be ported to the DS, it can probably be ported to the PSP as well, thereby negating the need to take a tally. Then again, are there any games that came out for the DS and the PSP that weren't ports or remakes of older games?

At least the DS and the PSP have about the same price, so in that case it's not the decisive factor...
I could list maybe 5 good PSP games on a good day. Maybe that is because of the PSP's advertising not reaching me. On the other hand, I could list 20+ great games for the DS without having ever seen ads for them. You're making the mistake of assuming that the system sells the games, rather than the other way around.

I think that it's sales figures may partially be due to the fact that the specs of the console are not written on the box.
Are you saying that the average person would be swayed to buy one console over another based on the specs rather than the content? A lot of people tried pandering to the specs when the consoles were slated to come out (read: "the PS3 has THE CELL"), but I doubt it had a noticeable impact on sales.

I'll be sure to start hiding my links as apostrophes in the middle of possessive statements.

All you would use the chip trader for is swords, either strong, short range or long range. That being said, are those included in the "couple regular chips" exclusion? Are manipulation rates observable/manageable?

No, but anyone who is/has been active in the site itself will definitely see/feel a difference in the site. Don't downplay this.

I'd also like to mention Bunny Must Die, a castlevania-styled Japanese independant platformer which involves time manipulation (freezing, rewinding, slowing down), although the player character is mostly immune to these effects.
Do you have any working links for this game?

Meh. My run is just a test run. It sounds like you are more involved than I am, but I still plan on finishing my test run this summer.

Sounds like we need a middle ground between homage and progress. I nominate Ghastly wearing a Megaman helmet.

1) The way I swap was the fastest I could manage, since there is a comparable lag time after removing a chip and swapping a chip. 2) The Cannon C chip was to manipulate a Zeta Cannon set up for Numberman but it didn't work out. However, it also didn't have a large impact on which chips were available to me at the start of the fight. I still want to go back and see if manually moving around chips will change what I get at the start of the fight. (God I hope that doesn't work...) 3) I'm drawing a blank on what you mean by bookmarking pages, but I'm pretty sure I have to run by that merchant again at some point either way. That and the PowerUp from Dad's email will both go to boosting attack, as it will boost your killing rate more efficiently than either of the other bonuses. 4) What 60-chip quota? Gah, it feels like I've forgotten everything after the Ice area. 5) The plan all along was to eventually dump the majority of my chips in to the shop and trade for epic sword chips. That way, everything but the last boss will be boiled down to getting good sword and cannon groupings.

Your fights are impressive, albeit a little repetetive. Unfortunately, the dialog is going to kill any interest in the run, especially with the forced breakfast/dinner speeches.

I haven't received any Buster upgrades at this point. I will get one from the teacher (or something, I can't remember) and will buy one on the net so that both can pump direct damage. I could have bought one earlier by adding a fight or two and manipulating zenny instead of Shock chips but it feels like it would have been a waste of time. You want to see the WIP? I'll just post what I have on my external, since I haven't bothered to touch this in the last few weeks. Any progress since Numberman, which was just a conversation, was lost when my HD popped. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1356592553/Zurreco_MMBNtest.vbm Watching this makes me tingly on the inside. I think I will start working on this again in the near future...
