However many it takes to enter Bowser2, unless you can glitch a 16star. I don't know if you can carry MIPS while holding Z, though.

I watched this yesterday on the wrong ROM, which synced until Sigma-2 (I think). Very well done! I had no idea this game had so much playaround potential.
If you vatched on V1.0, it probably desynched right after killing the second Boomer Kuwanger.

You posted this less than 24 hours after the file was submitted. Kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP. This whole trend of "omg its been a whole day and this excellend run hasnt been published?" is retarded.

I'm mentioning that because you surprised me that you could jump on this platform in Chill Penguin's stage without grabbing the wall: I couldn't even reproduce the jump in Chill Penguin...
I think that jump abuses a glitch with sloped surfaces, where walk jumping on the critical point of a slope makes you jump noticeably higher.

I can't believe I never noticed this thread was alive again. I blame the IRC room for not mentioning it to me. I'm very excited to see your work so far, Randil.

Using Magish' example, you could make a divergent meaning of the term. "Sequence breaks" are acts of skipping things that were programmed to be mandatory. Example: skipping Spore Spawn via early super missiles in Super Metroid. "Skipping semi-important goals" includes skipping things that aren't mandatory, but are very very hard (near impossible) to skip through normal gameplay. Example: skipping the Gravity/Varia Suit and still playing through Maridia/Norfair in Super Metroid.

San Fran you're probably surprised b/c of the hidden tape variable. A pretty cool method is used to get this that cuts off a good 20 seconds by going up to get it from a different way, and the route ends at the S, though it's tricky to pull off consistently.
You mean using the planter to jump from the streets to the pagoda? It's a pretty common trick. The problem with your time is that it seems to be way too fast for it's own good: How can you expect us to believe that you can ride the whole entire level, in a loop, while collecting everything, in that amount of time? I was referring more to the ones such as Minneapolis < 3:00. Don't really understand this since you only have 2 minutes to do it.
That would indicate a typo on my part, then. Especially since I said that every level could be done in one go earlier on.

Just watched the first two levels. Everything looked real kosher. Do you know how much time you will have saved once you edit the second boss fight? As per your request, I humbly accept your invitation to partner up. I guess I'll PM you about that.

Man, you must not know what "way off" means, apparently. 25 seconds instead of 30 seconds? 1:20 instead of 1:30? WOAH!!! Those looks suspiciously close to me![/i]

I would assume it contained something more like <6.5% of your lifespan.

So...
  • If you don't have enough stars for a door, you'll glitch past it.
  • If you have enough stars, you'll either glitch through or open them normally, depending on how the weather is outside.
  • You'll either slowly run up the final staircase or you'll use the faster and cooler looking BLJ, depending on what everyone votes on.
Did I get that right?

I think it's faster to BLJ the final staircase even if you have the 70 star requirement.

Manuals only showed up in THPS2, IIRC. Reverts in THPS3. All levels can be completed in one 5 minute play. The only level that will give you trouble doing so will be Downtown, since everything is very spread out. I would assume that the times to get 100% goals in each level would be something like: Warehouse <0:30 School <1:30 Mall <2:00 (only hard part is getting the secret tape and SKATE without backtracking too much) Downhill Jam <1:30 Downtown <3:00 San Fran <2:00 To beat each competition would seriously only take 15 seconds each run. One combo to get your special, once combo to bust out a high score. I would love to see how high of a score someone could get without grinding out the buzzer, but time is more important.

No half pipes or reverts in THPS1. Grinding is the only real way to string along tricks. That being said, the only fluid combo levels will be the mall, school, and maybe the warehouse. Then again, who knows?

I had no idea that you could turn after charge-slashing. I guess that shows how little I have tested with this game. If you really do want to partner up, I'd be more than welcome to. Feel free to PM me what you have so far so that I can get back to you on it.

So, after almost a year of testing, I started working on this again. I'm still stuck on Belth, for the most part. Only about 55 seconds worth of input is done so far, since the Lance is a terrible weapon to start with. I keep finding myself unable to attack after jumping once in a while, so I've been working to avoid this bug (impossible to always avoid it, but it's not always the slowest option) while trying to finish the fight. I will post what I have in about 5 hours, so that I can get some feedback. Or I will post it right now. Once Belth2 is dead and that longass cutscene is over with, I should be able to start hammering out work very quickly.

Great to hear from you, mister "I only get on the internet every monday morning, and I'm really only supposed to be checking email". In the next 12 months, I have 8 mormon friends (including NosFerretu Warlord) returning home from their LDS missions. I think this is where we all glare at Dan_ until he goes on his mission.
