Why not just doing a Tas of collecting all medalls and stones?
Well, all stones have to be collected regardless. It's impossible to beat the game without the stones, unless you're using some crazy game-breaking glitches. If you read this thread, though, you would see that since the medallions are not necessary to beat the game, collecting them would only be a good idea in a 100% run. Otherwise, it would compete with an any% run of the game, and it would obviously be much longer than the currently projected any% route. e: Holy crap, resize your avatar!

That does get me thinking though. Maybe there is a way to use the bunny so that you can skip DDD, that would save about 2 mins.
By the time that MIPS is there, stars are no longer needed. The only reason that DDD is played is to get access to Bowser2, not for it's star.

Everything is good now, Yrr. Feel free to complete your run, which will obsolete Atma's publication.

Longer cutscenes, but not long ones.

I may be wrong, but both don't fall in the category of "any%" run? In that case, the Pirate Sephiroth's run obsolets the Atma's previous run, don't?
Well, it's relative. While both movies are versions of any% runs, pirate_sephiroth's movie uses huge glitching to skip past a lot of stuff. Atma's movie does not use glitchwarps, and so many of us feel that they should be in separate categories.

Well, I don't see the word glitch anywhere in there, but let me clarify: there was no act of glitch abuse in Atma's run. The skip that is being referenced here is due to a well placed jump, not a glitch. Each ledge in this game has a few pixels at the end where the platform is actually located a pixel or two lower than where it seems. There is a platform that is placed so that an 'optimal' double jump will allow you to just barely reach it. Atma did this jump so that he could skip an otherwise useless soul in the game. e: I should mention that this neat little trick is easily reproduceable in real time, and is cleverly shown in Dragondarch's speedrun over at SDA. He also uses the Flying Armor skip, which essentially also abuses the 'platform' aspect of ledges. pirate_sephiroth, on the other hand, left the game's boundaries using boundary glitches and exclusion warping. This is a definite use of glitches.

This movie is a lot worse, but better at the same time! "Completely written, produced, filmed, edited, and acted by people with special needs"

The battle strategies will be the same across the difficulty levels, except that you won't have to waste time in the fights. Take Creaking Skull, for example: normal modes kill him early, whereas hard modes have to avoid the stupid bone club attack.

Why do you make these in hardmode when you know that they will be obsoleted by normal mode versions?

Wait, what? Both answers could be correct, assuming that the station was rotating in such a manner to induce gravity. However, as I recall, the people were standing perpendicular to the windows (as in, the windows were their walls), and the windows were on the outer ring. That would mean that they weren't standing on the inner or outer loops of the ring structure, but on the 'side' of the ring.

I do believe blip made a little mod that can rip sprites from emulators. If you search through his posts, you should come across it (his main focus of Guilty Gear sprites). However, the lazy yet effective method would be to open the emulator, display whatever sprite you want, disable all background, save the image (as bmp, if youre sticking with lethargy) through the emulator's screenshot function, open the image with an editing software, and crop out the sprite manually. Or whatever else anyone else says.

The trick isn't have to be frame perfect per se, it can be done in realtime with some practice.
Well.. yeah, I was mainly trying to say that it isn't a glitch. Atma's run has no glitches, whereas pirate_sephiroth's is glitchful.

Both Atma's run and this are effectively any% runs, and they both used glitches to skip parts of the game.
What glitches does Atma use? If you meant early access to the Floating Garden, that is just a frame perfect jump, just like entering the Castle without Flying Armor.

In this thread:
Phil wrote:
It's sad that some parts of the movie aren't as entertaining as in my run. I am going to correct them.
Phil does not see this as insulting in any way. I however, propose that this statement is insulting, for it connotes that Phil believes that his old work on Castlevania is not only superior to that of Morrison's in terms of entertainment, but that it is Phil's task to put Morrison in his place by 'correcting' his work. It may be that Phil is acting purely on his interpretation of what is entertaining in Castlevania (in which case it would be impossible to convince Phil how one person's opinion can be interpreted in many different ways), but the connotation of this statement is, to put it bluntly, very conceited and arrogant. Thoughts? I'm fine with being wrong here, but I justify this thread via:

How is this not an insult to Morrison's work?

Well, to be fair, I wasn't giving you a lesson; I was making a statement. Claiming that someone else's work isn't as interesting as your own isn't very becoming of a good competitor, but that is just my opinion. Feel free to passively insult people all you want.

If by commitment you mean 'torrent the cache of goodx ROMs' or 'bookmark a ROM site', then yes, that is a commitment. If you seriously can't bring yourself to have both the emulators and ROMs for the movie, I suppose you could have people simply send you .avis for hosting, but... why would you do that? All you would be doing is paying for hosting/bandwidth for other peoples' movies.

I highly doubt people will encode whatever they are submitting. While encoding to avi isn't hard, some people (including me) just aren't driven to learn how, as it is rarely necessitated. I could be wrong, though. Also, you would need to set a maximum and minimum quality on all avis, which would cause some problems.

A site that focuses only on endgame content wouldn't be so bad. I would love to see some things, like Boss Rush modes and whatnot, that won't be seen here. All of your other questions can be answered via the all knowing FAQ of the main site.

I'm still stuck at the same spot, so... I haven't made much progress, aside from improving the bits after I got the backdash. I'm trying to keep my runs to myself lately. With that in mind, let's stay on topic here: a warp movie should either always obsolete a nonwarp or it should never obsolete a nonwarp.
