A few of us have decided that his "TAS" moniker has got to go. In its stead, I propose that we change the name of our movies to NATE runs.

This makes it a lot easier to refer to our movies, and it also brings a more personal feel to the whole shebang. I submit this as a possible name change. Thoughts?

Find a way to get back from the Oasis, then.
I said "I think", not "I know". I understand what the optimal route is; I'm just justifying picking up the heart piece.
That should initially have said 100MB. My bad on the typo. Also, the 'segments' would be split up per the instructions of the runner, not you. Don't act like you are the deciding point for this run.
Where do I say savewarps aren't allowed? I said until we find a way to soft reset or encode the hard reset into the movie file, save warps can't be used. I don't think I ever said it was against the rules. The only way to work a save warp for this game would be to save and then die, which wouldn't save much time at all.

Until resets find a way into the movie files, save warps can't be used. Therefore, to solve the problem with returning from the Oasis, I'm going to suggest that we get the Bolero of Fire to warp back from.

She started it :(
Also, like I said, people will probably watch a Star Fox 2 run because they showed a tremendous amount of interest in the Star Fox 64 works.

Actually... why don't you just visit one subforum at a time? Maybe you could scratch down a list of updated threads with pencil and paper before you start reading? What on earth would make your PC reboot that fast/frequently?

This game probably WILL get published, so long as you are confident in it. It's a fairly standard platformer, which is what the site seems to focus on. Just tidy it up so that it isn't noticably beatable, and you should be fine.
PS: If you don't, it'll be rejected either now or as soon as someone else submits a better version.

Segmenting gives coders a chance to start coding soft resets? How does that logic work?
Furthermore, if you have such a low bandwidth that you need to split up ~100KB files into multiple 20KB files, you probably wouldn't be able to navigate this forum well enough to learn about the test run, much less get the emulator and ROM.

This is a no no. Either you wait for resets to be recorded effectively, you save and then die, or you forget about all of these shortcuts. Segmenting isn't allowed, last time I checked.

Looks good so far, although your web fall shortcut is not perfect: Acryte's initial demonstration ends with Link landing on the switch that activates the fire.

What I meant was that the combined speed of you walking and the platform is faster than just flying. It's cumulative speed. You'll see the same thing in the air level a lot: flying in the wind and walking with moving platforms is the fastest thing ever.

Wait, does anyone want to try a low score run?
...it's harder than you think.
You mean, throwing one punch, then getting the shit kicked out of you as you wait until there is 1 second left, and then finishing the level with a really cheap move? Yeah, no thanks.

Well.... uhh... it had a nice Hippogriff fight. Nothing to worry about too much, though: your fight was good as well. His was a bit faster because he somehow stopped the beast from firing off its feathers.

Bah. It's better to get set back a day and fix your problems now than it is to finish your run and have a few flaws haunt your conscience. I would say that you should go back and fix these things, since it's only a minute or so back from where you are, and everything up to Arma afterwards is a cake walk.
Also, nitsuja's test movie can be found here.

Not bad. Your Hippogriff fight was cool, but I'm not too sure that autofire was the way to go. Maybe you should watch nitsuja's test to see how you should fight it. The area right after the hippogriff saw a lot of lost time. You can land in front of the first axe thrower and jump over him without losing any momentum. Also, you should have landed on/walked with the moving platform when it started going to the right: it moves faster than you by a lot.
I was really impressed with your area right before Arma, though. I wouldn't have thought to jump up the cliff to get to that last platform. Your Arma fight was also pretty cool, although it sucks how he flew all the way up there towards the end.
I think I'm going to just give advice to you on this run. You play at a pretty high level, and after showing a sloppy any% to some people in IRC, we came to the conclusion that an any% would be boring.

Right, but he also shows up in IRC sporadically to defend Genesis. If he has time for that, he has time to stop by and say "star #72". Let's all get mad at FODA some more!
