Makou: a savestate will be verified by a few trustworthy people, and that will be used as a starting point. That savestate will come from an already beaten game, which means that everything will be unlocked already. So no, no one will be playing the game through and then soft-resetting to play it all over again. That is unecessary. The problem resides in whether you can complete the game so as to unlock everything and then soft reset -> savestate and use that as a base. Will that savestate affect the SRAM enough to unlock the hard and julius modes? In theory, the answer should be yes. If that can be verified (ie have someone beat the game and soft reset, make a savestate, delete their SRAM, and then try to access the bonus stuff), then that savestate would be used for any bonus modes. Otherwise, that savestate will be meaningless and you will have to start these movies with a soft reset on frame 1, which is a bit of a hassle. If it does work, though, then the normal methods of beggining a movie with 'power on' (soft reset shoots all the way back to square one, so soft reset is the same idea as power on) and ending it with the last needed input would define the parameters of the movie.

That would cause some problems with people who are trying to replay the movies. Not everyone is a pro with emulator playback yet. As soon as you press play, it will hop to said savestate that has beaten the game, soft reset, and then start anew, yes? Why not just have a savestate that occurs right after the reset? That way, not only will we not have to deal with the annoying input for the soft reset (bind all necessary buttons to one key advance a frame, reassign keys), but it will be a smoother transition.

Gimme a few weeks, and you can have your SRAM. However, I am 99% sure that dan_ and BoltR have savestates of 100% games at Chaos, so you might as well just nab those from them.

No. When I got my PC back from my brother's place (he held on to it for a week while I moved, but it was never used), it needed a new power supply for some reason. I replaced it, and it ran fine. Then I put in a new soundcard, and it began to give me troubles. At first glance, the new soundcard has teamed up with my video card to overheat and exhaust my processor/motherboard. Like I told mike a few days ago, it's probable that one of those two may have been damaged by the heat. I still have to test a new motherboard to see if that is the problem (which it probably is). Otherwise, whatev. Looks like I will take both PCs to school with me, then. In either sense, I am still going through with the warp movie. I'm just not worried about not-totally-important souls right now. That means that the Skeleton Knight is disposable, for now. I should still get the Minotaur, since I need to beef up for Balore and Chaos. I should probably also get Red Minotaur, which I was planning on getting, since that alone will save me 10+ seconds on Balore and Chaos. To recap, the soul and equip set ups should go like this, ideally (quotes go around things that are disposable, and armor isn't included): -intro- Winged Skeleton no blue no yellow Knife no accessory -enter castle- Winged Skeleton Flying Armor no yellow Baselard no accessory -first glitch- Winged Skeleton Flying Armor 'Skeleton Knight' 'Combat Knife' no accesory -giant armor- Winged Skeleton Flying Armor Minotaur 'Combat Knife' no accesory -second glitch- Winged Skeleton Manticore Minotaur 'Combat Knife' 'Power Belt' -balore- Red Minotaur Manticore Minotaur Laevatain 'Power Belt' -chaos- Red Minotaur Giant Bat Minotaur Laevatain 'Power Belt' I am pretty sure there won't be any deviations here. If I ever really really really need help with souls, I might grab the white dragon soul in the dance hall on my way through. I don't care for any item drops, but a mind up wouldn't hurt. I don't think I will see any, though. Keep in mind that I will have Gravekeeper and Malphas as the only two skill souls taken in this version. I had planned out all of the exp ahead of time to avoid all unecessary fights, but the addition of picking up the Laevatain kinda ruined all of that, so... more testing is needed! TO THE GBA! Comments are always helpful.

If you had simply switched your ROM from Megaman 4 to Rockman 4, and then played at the exact same level, you would beat the old movie by said amount of seconds. Does that make it a better movie? No. Focus on making it show more skill with the game, not just beating the time.

I figure, since it has been forever without any progress, that I am going to continue with the warp run. I have given up on trying to strongarm the Skeleton Knight soul/Zombie Soldier knife, so we will all have to be OK with the fact that I will be losing a few seconds until I get to the minotaur before the Giant Armor. Everyone is OK with that? Good. It also gives me something to improve down the line a bit. I will submit an imperfect movie if there is no real progress in the soul drop program by the time I finish with it. I can't work on the movie right now, though, because my main computer is still refusing to turn off. Until I can figure what is wrong with that PC, I will either not work on the movie, or my boredom will eventually drive me to move my operations to my other PC. We will see...

You don't have to search for them, you know. There is a page on the site that lists all torrents that have more downloaders than seeds, which makes seeding efficiently a breeze.

So are we keeping Walker's movie as a fast playaround?

If you kill input after you get Mew, the ball would just sit in the launch thing for all eternity. And yes, Blue table has the faster bonus rounds, not to mention that you can manipulate ball launches to hit the Polywag and Diglett on the sides for map changes. With good timing, you can finish the Meowth stage in one good shot, and the Seel stage is a matter of rerecording. On the other hand, you would have to clear all of the Digletts and the Dugtrio for Red table, not to mention the Ghost bonus seems to take forever and a day to get through.

Umm... isn't jecy Japanese as well? Either way, you shouldn't really be making plans to replace mf just yet. How would you feel if you disappeared for a month and came back to find people trying to weed you out of the picture, minus your contributions? Just give him some time. If you're in such a rush to see this movie, make it yourself. Has anyone actually tried contacting him by any medium other than this forum?

So you would spend all that time getting Mew, and then... you would die off?

Why wasn't this movie split into segments like the old versions were? krieg: Developers make NPCs give standard directive statements so that players who can't figure it out on their own can still get a nudge in the right direction. If you couldn't figure out where you were supposed to go, you should turn to the NPCs for help. That is why they say those things. You shouldn't call it retarded when a dev tries to help the not-so-bright players along their way. Your logic makes no sense. "I need help. Woah woah woah, these NPCs are being too generic, even if they are giving me the help I need. I'll go watch a speedrun for ideas instead."

That would be the Konami CODE. Codes are not unlockables. Unlockables focus on things that can not by bypassed by normal means, such as having to beat the game on a certain difficulty.

It's too bad that the file is 507 MB for LQ. my 512 flash drive doesnt like to pick up any single files over 500 MB. Still, I will see this when my other PC gets internet connection.

Not many people anticipate a Julius movie. I think it mostly lies in seeing the warp movie (which I am working on) and the 100% movie, which I have no plans to even think about. Anyways, there are very tiny hacks out there which could alter the game a lot. I have seen one that adds only a few pixels to your normal jump, but that alone is enough to alter a lot of the paths in the game. You could skip Flying Armor and (MAYBE) Malphas, which are the two pivotal souls for a warp run. Regardless; the rules state that no SRAM is to be used. If we start making exceptions here and there, we'll eventually give way to all sorts of things.

Well, I'm still fairly skeptical that this will be allowed. It comes at too much of a risk to the credibility of the movies.

Irregardless is technically a word now. Meaning is 'without lack of regard'. dan: touche salesmen. i switch between anyways and anyway so much in my casual chit chat that i tend to let it slip.

Truncated: Merriam-Webster isn't the definitive source of goods when it comes to the english lexicon. You can find terms like "bootylicious" in the MW dictionary, since they add one new slang term into their books every year or so. Anyways, till as a preposition is as reliable as the words ain't or y'all; they exist, and they sure are used a lot, but that doesn't make them real words. If one thing should never falter under the strains of societal influence, our languages shouldn't be bastardized for lazy people.

You can always ask Bisqwit REALLY nicely if you want to, but I doubt he will make an exception, because if he allows SRAM, he pretty much opens the door to cheat codes and hacking and... stuff.
