Michigan Wolverines (football and college football/basketball) and Chicago Bulls, since they're both my hometown teams. Also, if the IHL were still around, I would say Chicago Wolves. No favorite soccer team, since if I said that I respect both the German and Turkish teams I would get mugged. Also, the Greek team sucks and they lucked out, and the US team is a lot better than most peple give them credit for.

It's different for speedrunning, though. 90% of the tricks out there don't have a hidden catch. Therefore, as soon as you bust out your ace in the hole, someone else will come along and steal it. Why not have everyone spill everything they have, save for those things that do require obscure catches (since they're your secret, right?), and further the optimisations of the games? Also, no one will be black listed in a gaming community for discussing games. Ever. That defeats the purpose of a gaming community.

The sooner your sabre or buster reach a chargeable level, every enemy and boss in the game can be killed 2x faster. However, I'm not going to stop anywhere to level up any of my weapons, since that is essentially a waste of time and none of us know what it takes to get certain levels. Also, shooting the lazer grids can give exp? Hm...

Enjoyment, both visually and auditorally (sp?). Not to mention the nostalgia of it all.

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! PAPERBOYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Sorry... Highest score means best delivery success rate. That means you deliver to people on your route and you don't use any of your other papers. As you do well, you will get more subscribers. This is ideal for a movie on this site, since it is both a 100% movie and a speed oriented movie. Getting everyone to subscribe (and concordently delivering to everyone subscribed) is your goal. I know there is a pretty wide window of success for deliveries, so firing off papers early/late and still getting a delivery would be interesting. Then again, doing events like stopping the burglar or slapping a baby in the face with a paper are also interesting. I don't know how to move faster, but it seems as if going off of tiny jumps gives you a boost of speed. Talk to GSGold. As for the end of the week trial(s), try to get the highest score possible. This is the one actually slightly difficult part of the run, since you need to plan a bit and test some stuff.

-I think if you just hit an enemy with a weapon you will level the weapon up even if you don't kill the enemy, but I don't know for sure. -If you can level up your weapon without killing enemies then I made a big mistake when it came to leveling up the buster. -You should really test whether some bosses are faster simply using the standing slash trick. I'm almost positive Hanumachine (defend the base) and Stagroff (find hidden base) are faster due to the lack of invincibility. You did standing slash Aztec Falcon to death, right? -The trick is you need to be on the upper half of the sub and the game will automatically push you up onto the sub. -Have you considered doing retrieve data later?
-I have noticed that, whenever I replay my file on my cart, I can level the sabre during my fight with Maha or Anubis. Therefore, either simply striking gives you exp, or striking bosses gives exp, whereas killing enemies gives other exp. -I am taking the precaution of firing off a few shots on some enemies before I slash them, just in case this does give me buster exp. -What is the standing slash trick? I've heard something about it, where the first attack in Zero's ground sabre combo doesn't cause invincibility because it is meant to allow your combo to do full damage. I need to know what this is before I can use it. As for Aztec Falcon, I start the fight with a charged buster shot (3 damage) and then continue on with optimised mid-air slashes (4 damage). It's enough to finish him very very quickly. However, I haven't really moved too much further yet, so maybe I can salvage that fight... -Define "on the upper half". You mean grabbing on to the side of the sub? -The thing about doing Retrieve the Data when I do it: I don't expect to have any charge abilities at that time. The level is really simple, and I'm fairly sure I can get Maha to just walk or slap (although walking is preferred). Any rolling or wrecking ball attacks would make me restart the fight. The Thunder Chip would make the fight way faster, but I'm just not confident that I'll have a chargeable weapon by then.

OK, so here is my finalized route for my run. -Obviously, I'll do the Underground Lab and then the Disposal Factory. I have Aztec Falcon dead as of right now (I had to redo the fight twice, but he is optimally owned now). -Destroy the Train. I should level up both the sabre and buster during this mission, hopefully. I am THIS close to researching weapon leveling... -The Desert Level. I should get the second sabre upgrade during my trek to Anubis, but I doubt I'll have the buster powerup. I'll try to get it while I'm walking the trooper back. -Retrieve the Data. Thankfully, I don't have to walk anyone back at a slow rate, but Maha will just be one big manipulation-fest. I think I should be able to make him romp in place. Does the Thunder Chip amplify normal slashes and semi-charged buster shots? -Occupy the Factory. Should be straightforward. I still need to tinker with the retarded floating platform area, but I think I might be able to skip most of it with some ideal wall hopping. I should be able to finish off the boss in very few turns. -DRILL MOLE MECHANOTHINGER OF DOOM. Pretty simple slashes with supplemental buster shots. Should be really really quick. -Second Desert Level. More basic dash/slash. I don't know if I will have either powered up weapons by now, but the Thunder enhancement would make Fefnir a breeze. -Find the Hidden Base. Aside from finding a quick route from hostage to hostage, my only qualm is manipulating Blizzack to use his retarded ice beam attack, giving me ample time to charge up and slash him with the Fire Chip. -Harpuia's Stage. I need to test every ledge here for possible shortcuts, but it seems like I can avoid every ladder in the stage. I may have to wound one of those lame tortoise things, though. Harpuia is a joke with the Ice Chip. -Protect Factory mission. Once Phantom gets out of my way, this should be a breeze. I need to find out what his optimal fight pattern is. I think I may have to manipulate him to use the hovering shuriken attack instead of his multiform. The bomb path seems simple enough. Might take damage to bypass some electrical beams... -Stop the Hacking. I'm testing mike's shortcut in the submarine area, but I intend to do it without the triple rod. No promises, though. I also need to see if it's faster to destroy the computers with my buster as opposed to the spinning slash. Leviathan is a joke, but not as easy to beat as Harpuia is/was. -Defend the Base. Useless mission. The monkey boss will be manipulated to eat super-heated sabre. -Neo Arcadia I. I can slip past anything here, but I need to further test the two minibosses. If the first set of fliers have no recovery time, they are disposable via buster. The second duder can be manipulated to toss his blades. Then, aside from tinkering with the teleporting platforms, Herculious should be manipulatable to just launch salvos of energy balls. -NeoArcadia II. Stupid elevator... Also, since I'm not using Totten, I have spikes to worry about... The boss shouldn't be a hassle. I need to stop saying that. Neo Arcadia III. I have my mini/boss fight orders set up based on the least amount of chip shifting. I should walk into X's fight with the Ice Chip on so that I can use it on Angel-X immediately. I haven't really learned Angel-X's methods and whatnot yet, but I'll be sure to do that fight as well as I care to do. Anyways, I will release my test WIP once I beat the stupid Mechanowhatever tank. Be sure to leave feedback if you want to.

NES and Paperboy 1. Very simple ways of getting settled, and the game isn't so difficult. That, and I really want to see a Paperboy movie...

Keyboard zones?
Some keyboards don't allow too many buttons in the same area to be pressed at the same time. I guess it's to keep fat people from making too many typos or something. Example: my keyboard used to not allow me to use LA or RB combonations with VBA since I use the set up L-A R-S A-Z B-X. Once I shifted L and R up to Q and W, I was able to use the LA and RB button press combos.

That is precisely why I said that I refer to them as 'movies'. You can't say "THATS A FAKE MOVIE" when it is exactly what I said it was: a set of frames that go together fluidly to show off animation and whatnot. If I say 'this is a movie' and someone says 'yes, but it was done with emulator tools and whatnot and therefore deserves less respect', I would say 'no, it is a movie. it is not a speedrun. stop making everything comparative and STOP MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PLIGHT OF THE CONSOLE GAMER'. Seriously, this debate wouldn't even be around if it weren't for people with hurt pride. I don't care about those people, and I myself am not about to change to make some random person happier with themselves. They can deal with it, because I'm not about to start trying.

Yeah.... whatever. It's still a time saver to power it up for later boss fights, and that's all that matters. I made sure to use a nice combonation of buster and sabre against the enemies, so if simply hitting someone with a weapon levels it up, the buster should get the 4th pellet upgrade before I get back to Maha/the train.

Giga, why not make a full 100pt S rank normal movie? Skip elves and weapons, though. I'm still kinda upset that killing someone with the sabre creates one frame of lag. Oh well... Up to Aztec Falcon as well. 4:4x:xx, because that computer is somewhere not here.

I still think it would be simpler if everyone just called it whatever they personally prefer. Then, when someone asks what you're talking about, you can clarify with the whole 'tool-assisted emulator-using slow-downing re-recording time-attacking...' spiel. Eventually, we will all get used to eachothers' mannerisms. I still simply refer to the movies on this site as 'our movies' whenever I'm talking with anyone in the community. I see no problem with that, and I'm not about to start going out of my way to spell out exactly what kind of movies/how they are made/what they are made with/etc. It's not like I go to the local cinema to see "modern action-scifi thrillers recorded on digital camera deelys with special effects and actors/actresses that speak and/or move a lot". No, I go to the movies to watch "films", or maybe "movies". That is, unless you want to go blaze a trail all over the world by referring to films as 'camera-assisted enjoymentattacks.'

a) A hard mode run requires you to beat the game first, right? Unless that movie is being made with SRAM and isn't shooting to be accepted, I don't see the point. b) I am not concerned about the saber. I will be using it almost exclusively, so it should get the charge ability before I fight Anubis/Blizzag. I will use the buster enough to get a yellow-charge shot capability so that I can speed up certain fights (read: Anubis, Harpuia, ...err... red gun guardian dude, etc.). Granted, I won't have fast charge saber, which sucks because it makes the water guardian and a bunch of other bosses have almost no chance to mix it up in a fight, but I should have a charge when I seriously need it the most. c) You can chat with Ciel almost immediately after any mission, so I'm not worried about that. If you've ever seen me use frame advance, you would simultaneously say "ok, it seems like you have the basics under control" and vomit all over me in disgust. Or something... Unfortunately, I made a boo boo against the Golem and I have to kinda go all the way back there to fix it. Oh well; it should be ~0.5 seconds faster. edit: mike, I have both a question and a favor for you. If I simply shoot my buster, do I get weapon exp? If I shoot and hit an enemy, but don't kill them, will I get weapon exp? Also, can you research how many strikes with the saber/buster it takes to level them up? Anything/everything will help. I would look into these personally, but I work 9 hour days (at work right now) and am still in the process of moving in to my new place. Thanks. Probably should've PMd you, but maybe someone else will see this before you.

The boomerang is, essentially, not that important for this run. Sabre/Buster should be sufficient enough in Mode B, since they pretty much cover ever scenario except reflecting bullets or bouncing off of fish (the only great use for the triple rod). Keep in mind that it does take a more than marginal amount of time to go from Ciel to engineering and back, not to mention you would have to swap between Buster and Bomerang whenever it would be beneficial. As for Anubis and either of X's forms, a simple 1-2 combo of full charged sabre slashes and a wave of charged/uncharged buster shots will make the shield tactic useless. Not to mention that, essentially, both fights are too mobile to really abuse the loop. As for X-Angel.... well, I have yet to ever defeat him yet, but I've barely tried on console and... yeah. I'm currently doing my new test run. About to kill the elephant dude. Obviously, I'm using mike's route for my route, since his seems to be the fastest one out there. That, and he's done enough research to make me say 'yes sir'.

About the shield boomerang... Is the time it takes to get it better than the time it takes to just beat the bosses with saber and buster? To get the SB, you need to also accept the... 'spear' (arg, bad headache), not to mention go all the way down to engineering to get it. I think I'll start testing this game some more, now that my main PC is up (not online, yet) and that I am still waiting for an Aria soul system. Pure speed -> screw ranks and whatnot. As it stands, no elf seems to be worth using. I could be wrong, though. Maybe toss a small one on right after I get the saber, since that seems to be the only time that I am near a transerver during the whole game. I still haven't looked into elves too much, but I'm sure the whole game could be done with no damage, no elves, no talking to anyone (aside from Ciel and mission NPCs), etc etc. Like I said, I'm testing it still.

This would be better in the speedrun section, and there is already a lot of talk about this game for timeattacks all over the SNES games forum.
