If we are going to go into semantics about optimising smashes... the prayer command may be the definitive difference between entertainment and speed. I don't know every possible outcome of praying, but I'm sure one or two of them will outperform the girl's smash attacks. Trick is, can they be controlled?

If this is a test, don't worry about it. IF you are going gun-ho straight into this, maybe it would be best if you optimised some fights. I'm pretty sure no one will care if one shark takes two turns instead of one, but it's best to make a seemingly unbeatable movie.

In case no one had heard, TSA starts practicing the new movie/techniques on Wednesday.

So... uhh... I guess I'll just tinker some more, then. I really have to rehearse my Balore fight, because, well, if you saw my WIP way back when, you know. It's rough. If and when Hoe can be super-mega-ultra-awesome and somehow make a specially patched VBA that can run this program in the background without affecting how the game itself is handled, I will definitely dive straight in to finishing this movie. Pretty much all planning is done, all I need is some software support and a little practice with some things. The only things I haven't planned are Chaos and the last warp. As it stands, I don't know if I will be able to get a decent any% out any time soon. I currently work 40 hour weeks, but I still have time after work to dabble in these things. Once school starts again in late September, though, I will be hard pressed to get a lot of work done. So, that being said, nothing has really changed. I am still currently stuck trying to get a Combat Knife from the first Zombie Soldier (although is still interchangeable with the Zombie Officer, but I prefer this method) and/or getting the Skeleton Knight from either of the first two Skeleton Knights. No luck so far. And, for inquiring minds, everythin in that latest WIP will also probably be the first ~2 minutes of input for my any% movie. Since that one has less focus on power leveling, though, the routes and tactics change pretty dramatically as soon as I enter the castle's main area.

As of tomorrow, I will be at my new place with not a whole lot to do. I guess, since I won't have internet for a bit, I'll just be doing some random tests with stuff further on in the game. Hopefully, by the time that my connection there is established, someone will have at least released an FAQ or something on the soul program. Also, the item drop calculator would be an awesome help as well.

I am not working on a 100% run for this. If and when I get AoS warp version done (whenever I figure out how the soul drop software thing works), I'll start testing the game. However, anyone is free to take the game; it's not like we are calling dibs or anything. And no, I haven't found out anything super interesting from my testing. Most info I have came from Mike, and most of that info was either quickly refuted or supported within a day by Mike. Talk to him if you want expert advice. edit: for clarity, i would be doing a pure speed, non-rank run. this is if and when i get around to it

Have you tested what keystrokes on certain frames/pausing can do to the randomness. THe usual culrpits here are frame # and odd inputs (as in left/right or using buttons with no use).

Babel? Don't you have to do the whole tower as Shadow? Or do you mean the Pyramid?
Meant Pyramid, my mistake. Also, you play all non-fighting parts of Babel as Will, not Shadow.

You, good sir, disgust me. Hal, I told you all of my comments in IRC. However, I can not stress enough that Psycho Slider and Psycho Spin will inevitably make or break you in Ankor Wat and Babel.

I had totally forgotten about Teleport A. That adds a HUGE amount of planning after the halfway mark in the game. I can't wait to see how you handle some areas now. Also, am I to assume that {the girl}'s prayer command will be used/abused a bit from time to time? I'm sure that, with proper testing, you will be able to use her praying abilities more than her magic abilities for the first parts of the game. Just a thought...

Cow and Chicken is still on TV over there? My mind is blown... So this isn't Boogerman, then? Interesting.

Talk to GSGold, he made a test run. Also, it's called Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. Also, the reason that he never takes any damage is because Dragondarch super segmented that run. When you're only doing 5 minute long segments on average, it is very easy to redo parts until you get them good enough. I, personally, don't like the approach he took for this game.

As much as I hate bumping and/or egging people on, I need to know if there has been any luck in isolating the drop code. Also, I'm still interested if anyone wants to explain in layman's terms how to use sephiroth2k's program to determine soul drops. TNSe had initially said 'just run it along with VBA and pay attention to the number it gives you on the frame that you kill the monster on. If it it at or below the soul's base number, you will get the soul.' That's good and all, although I still don't have an index of soul/item code base numbers or how to run the application alongside VBA.

Who is it? Last I checked Walker Boh was the only person interested in doing a run of it, but he was working on Zombies Ate My Neighbors at the time.
Why, me of course! While I work with Aria, I'm tinkering with SGnG to ensure that I don't get sick of AoS.

That depends on your definition of a classic. I never played SMB2 as a kid, but I played Paperboy all the time. Therefore, I am more interested in a possible Paperboy (or Paperboy 2) than I am in a lot of hyped games.

I'd vote for Super Ghouls n Ghosts. I know someone already did it but from what I've read it didn't get very popular. Maybe I should post this in an own thread but I got an idea for how to speed it up. There is a level select code for this game and one could start the game on the default difficult settings, beat the second last boss and then automatically start over in the search for the bracelet. The good thing now is that it's automatically on the hardest level and you sort of don't have to complete the game twice.
Someone is already doing this and they are already using the level select to jump to 7-2... edit: also, PAPERBOY!

Take variety over super fast ultra mega wow speed. The double dragon movies don't use the very strongest attacks because that would be lame. Take a page out of that book. Plus, if some douche did beat you by a few frames because he wanted to use a cheap combo that isn't as appealing, people may not vote for it.

I hadn't heard of this game until you told me to watch your demo. I'm quite impressed with how you handle each area, especially since the whole game seems really action packed. However, it also seems like this is the kind of game where it will take wierd abuse of enemy AI in order to kill everything quickly. Maybe you should, like, take note of how much damage each kind of attack does so that you can focus on heavy hitting attacks at all times. edit: nevermind, i must be blind...

I think you need the red armor in order to survive the Fire Temple. It would be impossible to do the whole temple in like 5 minutes. Will it be possible to skip a few heart containers, though? I know you need hearts in order to survive longer underwater, but I'm fairly sure you always had at least 10 seconds of spare time whenever you were underwater.
