*mandatory clarity response* Do you meean a speedrun using an emulator? Not that it matters, but there should be no doubt in your mind if it is a recording of you on a console.

Synopsis: Some guy dinked around in the Ceres escape because... well, he isn't the brightest of crayons. After he dies in the explosion, he chooses to continue. Once on Zebes, he walks around a bit and returns to the ship. The ship then flies off and it is game over. Anyone know what may have happened? Apparently there was a savestate loaded at some point, and we don't know what SRAM was used, so it could be some wierd hack.

After viewing the whole movie at 167% speed (I didn't miss anything, really), I can say that although this was a good movie that has a lot of obvious planning in it, I wouldn't publish it. It's pretty obvious that you didn't use frame advance at points where you should have (namely in between levels) and there were a few spots where it seemed that you hesitated even when it didn't mean you would be hit. Granted, this is just a few frames here and there, but in a 1.25 hour long movie, these will add up. Good movie, but slightly imperfect gameplay. Voting meh because I know it could be better, but who wants to redo such a long movie for such a small gain in time? Oh, and BOB's robot girlfriend has a nice robot ass ¬_¬

You should probably mention that this needs WIP timing enabled. Watching now...

Essentially, I am well equipped program wise in the task of solving Aria's soul randomness. However, I will need some kind of how to guide in order to really work this. TNSe tried to explain it to me roughly, and I think I get the general concept behind this, but I'm not confident enough in myself that I will be able to use what I have right now effectively. Also, does this also affect item drops? Aside from all of this horrid soul randomness, I also need to randomise 3 drops in my quick movie.

It has been confirmed for some time now. The reason that rolling is used is because it is more dependable. You can change your direction after any roll, you can see where youre going, and TSA's method of rolling is faster than just mashing A.

I wish I knew what all of that meant... I just need to know what exactly defines a soul/item drop, by how much said actions affect the randomness, and what value will always herald a soul. If you could translate the code into those three things, I will get back to working on Aria as if my life depended on it.

There are lots of obvious flaws that we have already brought up since the movie's release. Keep in mind that this is a 5 hour single segment, so some things tend to slip by unnoticed on accident.

Does Paper Thin work with the jet to toss you out faster? That's pretty useful... Actually, it is impossible to do the dungeon in one turn. Whenever you pick up a rare card, the level ends. That means you'll have to do that level at least 5 times, but probably more. Level 5 will also have to be done a minimum of 3 times, I think, if you're getting every card there. Also, why are you doing some levels slugless. Unless you're using that buff knife upgrade to slash some things, I don't follow. You could just upgrade the slug's weaponry and rip through the bosses super fast. Finally, I don't really remember where each of the cards are that activate the hidden parts of the main levels. I'm pretty sure they're scattered through level 5 and the dungeon. That means that your current route will have to depend on if you have found said key cards in time.

Umm... almost any phone with internet capabilities can load the site. Of course, it won't able to access torrent files. I used to peruse the forums when I was in my MV calc class back in the fall.

I will help you with a route, although the only planning you really need are for level 5 and the dungeon. It will suck having to redo the dungeon so much, but whatever. As for the other two concerns: just equip paper thing while doing a run through, say, level 1's secret area, and you should get the award. Then, load the same level and die at the first enemy. Problem solved. Technically, death = damage, but if you are not taking any damage aside from a 1 hit kill death, I am sure people won't mind considering it a no damage run.

And finals are coming. I will spend lots of time on this over summer whenever I am not working or off partying. If you're interested, I still can't get the Combat Knife OR the Skeleton Knight soul. I almost want to just play the game and beat it quickly without randomising everything perfectly and then try again later, but that probably won't work out too well for me...

Essentially, the world is moving towards a 'world culture' rather than nationally defined identities. I really don't have a stance on this.

I think Ramzi was talking about Link's appearance as it relates to certain genotypes shown by one's ethnic background. I would be more interested if anyone else sees Link becoming more androgynous with each passing game. (For those who aren't fluent in english, androgyny ~ having characteristics that are hard to define as male or female. read: Michael Jackson or "It's just Pat!")

I used to have this problem as well. Then it magically made it so that I can't seek past a portion of the movie. Now all it does is play the audio faster than it should.

Here is where I get to ramble: Throughout all of the BC/HNF movie, all you really see are some nicely placed grapples and shots that get the level over faster. The only thing that is really interesting about the movie is the routes used and the 'jump' that is used on a few levels (I am to assume that you don't jump in this game, correct?). The boss encounters aren't anything impressive and the gameplay, although seemingly flawless, isn't that impressive. UK, however, shows of a lot more that BC/HNF. Sure, UK does have a superior game engine and more to work with (including controls, music, visuals, etc), but the sheer display of difficult moves and shortcuts used in such a short amount of time makes UK much more enjoyable to watch. The huge amount of different things shown in UK pretty much engulfs any diversity found in BC/HNF despite the movie length. Also, to say that BC has more focus is a bit off. If BC had the player physics of UK, all you would see there is a bunch of timed swinging and grappling. I mean, that's all BC seems to be as it is; just swinging through areas as quickly as possible. The gun is used only to kill a few bosses, although they aren't really entertaining fights. BC tends to be held back from being as entertaining as UK simply because of how the game was meant to be played: UK allows the player to do more. Also, I think Phil has a point in that we shouldn't really compare these two games. Sure, they both involve working with a level to swing from start to finish, but other than that they aren't very similar. However, as long as we treat the star system as "in order for one movie to be given a star, another must lose one", we have to compare these movies based on Bisqwit's criteria. With that being said, more people seem to be wowed by Umihara Kawase than they are by both Bionic Commando and Hitler no Fukkatsu.

Did you even read the thread at SDA? Here are some quotes from TSA based on his feedback: " Heh, oh yeah - you just have to get the Lens to talk to him. Arg, that's about 30 seconds I could have saved..." " Pretty good, but I am sure I missed something I could have done faster...(seeing as there is one thing per segment at least we've been finding). I'll keep the Darmani thing from Segment 5 in mind...cuz yeah, I can sort of redo it later." "I can live with this...this game is pretty easy to do so far, so perhaps down the road when I think of a better time to get, I will have stuff to improve on. It wasn't a mistake, just something I didn't know...so it's not horrible." etc etc. He isn't shooting for perfection like he did with OoT: he is only getting a movie out there that is faster than the current world record. He has already made a few errors that, although seemingly bad when compared to most oh TSA's runs, aren't unsalvageable. That means that he is accepting lots of flaws in his movie based simply on the fact that he plans to redo the run and clean it up once the summer is over.

"Small errors" aren't what he is going to fix. He admits that he has already made a lot of errors that werent necessary in his current run. Something along the lines of a minute or so. Still, this looks like it will be much better than the current movie on the site.
