What is game end if not progressing through all the stages and playing the full final cutscene and credits?

I agree this shouldn't obsolete the current run - there's a lot of wonderful gameplay in the current run and it would be really dumb if this is the only Aladdin TAS that's considered current Also Flip I can save 1 frame vs your "run" After pressing A to change settings, have 1 empty frame then 1 frame of pressing start (this lets you quit the Options menu with 1 input instead of 2 and therefore saves a frame)

Yeah, it's a bit of a wait. I asked the Really Longathon guys about it and they might be interested in running it as a Picture-in-Picture thing while someone is running something else. We'll see when their next marathon goes

The "Desert Skip" can be used to skip multiple levels, and I believe which attract mode cutscene it plays first is essentially RNG (should be easy to manipulate). I believe I've gotten Abu's cutscene first while messing around with it with regular controller inputs. If you time based on last input timing, the TAS can be a couple seconds long in this way: https://youtu.be/35VFGRCYkjM I timed the above method RTA and got 1 hour 48 min so obviously the "speed" of that trick is based purely on the timing system, not on any real time save. However, assuming you can get Abu first by controlling when you do your input, I believe you can save a couple seconds by skipping 4 levels (Desert, Agrabah Rooftops, Sultan's Dungeon, and Cave of Wonders) and playing Flip's inputs for Agrabah Streets and from Escape -> end There's also the possibility of using the skip selectively with soft resets, perhaps to skip Jafar's palace, although I'm skeptical.

Alright, thanks for the quick response. It's possible to potentially actually save time with this trick while still playing through a substantial portion of the game so I'll investigate that avenue further

For Disney's Aladdin (Genesis) there's a glitch that allows attract mode to progress the game. It doesn't save time RTA, but if you end timing on last input a route is possible that looks like this: 1) approx 2-4 seconds of menu inputs 2) done with inputs, TAS timing is over 3) idle at the menu for approximately 2 real-time hours while attract mode slowly progresses the game and eventually triggers the ending I assume this would prompt you to change the timing mechanism for this game, rather than accept this run? (Run by me forthcoming on this topic, obviously this is really easy to generate if you only need to TAS out a couple seconds of menu inputs)

I think hard mode is possibly a time save since you spawn on a random floor and can (in a TAS, or with resets in RTA) choose the floor you start on. Stairs burn in-game time effectively which is needed for the run, but I believe some floors you would spawn much closer to the stairwell than the 32nd floor (where you always spawn on beginner difficulty)
