One thing that occurred to me is that there are Atari emulators for GBA and probably DS. You may be able to then emulate the emulator in VBA or desmume. This has been done before for SMS and it was decided that it would not be acceptable for publication on the site, but that's probably your best bet for hacking something together (short of adding rerecording features to an existing emulator). I may try this out myself, being interested in seeing Atari runs as well...

More to the point, there does not exist an emulator for the early Atari consoles with features comparable to those found in the emulators used to make the movies here.

Heh, yeah I was wondering if that was really correct. From what I've read now it sounds like each individual cell sends an impulse that takes about 1/25 of a second. But we're not really like a tv/monitor or whatever, and the cells are not synced up so we can definitely detect better frame rates. Plus we see light better than an absence of light. So you can apparently flash an image up for 1/220 of a second in a dark room and most people will be able to recognize the image. I guess my point is that I have no idea what I'm really talking about :)

Frame advance is pretty simple... in FCEUX press the frame advance hot key, which is \ by default I believe. You can customize it as well. That will pause the emulation. Pressing it again will advance one frame. To continue at normal speed you have to push the Pause hotkey, which I think is Pause/Break by default and also customizable. From what I remember walking animation updates every 3 to 4 frames but it varies a lot. The human eye sees at about 25 frames per second I believe so no use going much faster than that...

As a footnote to 1, I would say it is possible to find a new game and play through it a couple of times and enjoy it and then make a run of it. You don't have to have previous experience with it, but it certainly does help.

Wow, Cpadolf is making quite the come back... I voted for Lord Tom again in the run off, perhaps because he has deserved it for a couple of years now :P. Cp also makes some great runs, but every Tom run I have enjoyed :D

I blame my confusion on silent updates :) Well, if it's beta then I'm a little less disappointed in ietab, it's not as nice as the one in firefox yet: It opens the page in a new tab rather than just switching within the same tab, it sticks in a whole extra ie tab tool bar including an address field, and I haven't been able to make it save passwords (this could be my fault though). Still better than keeping two browsers open though.

Well, extensions are in the release version now, including my much needed IETab! It seems I can now do away with firefox for the time being.

I also used it to turn an N64 controller into a remote control for watching avi's! Nothing gave me more satisfaction than pausing/unpausing my movie with the start button!

Voted for MK3 as an underdog -- It surprised me consistently with amusing bits, so was "funnier" to me than the (somewhat) predictable silly punchlines of Family Feud. But I'm thinking FF will win, deservedly so.
