I've made a pair of "Game-Specific History Pages" which exploit the ability to inject movie publications into pages. Bisqwit (a while ago) moved the SMB3 page from my namespace to the history section, so I've added an SM64 page in part at the urging of Mitjitsu. Warp, in particular, suggested pages like this for more games, and this is certainly something I had in mind as well. Any suggestions? I think that would be reasonable once we reach a critical mass of hacks. I don't know what that is, but I don't think it's 2 (this, and Air, unless I missed something). How many more really interesting and different SMB hacks are there?

This may be the case, but perhaps people are not very motivated to make a movie that could be rejected without discussion on the grounds that it is outside the scope of the site.

Let me know how that works out for you, never tried it myself. Windows Mobile != Windows so I imagine it will only work if someone's specifically ported codecs or whatever to the platform.

Yeah there are several games that could be given that treatment. I intend to start a new thread to promote the idea at some point if I get the SM64 one done.

Probably one that your phone supports... probably not h.264 :) I've personally watched some via YouTube which is somehow magically supported on my phone (palm treo on windows mobile)... doesn't use flash, it uses some form of streaming avi directly to the media player if I recall correctly.

Looks good to me, I guess. My only suggestion would be more descriptive files than wip003 etc :D How much longer is the game?

Here's an encode. I vote yes. Outside of the context of TASVideos, this is an amazing demo of killing a game. Compared to existing movies, it is mostly text, and we have a few games like this already, so I could see a resistance to publishing this. But really this is far more impressive than a lot of the standard run-to-the-right movies we have. Good job!

RE: damage boosting, I would suggest doing a test run and seeing what happens. Don't worry about optimizing it too much and plan on doing a revision afterwards. I know that's a lot of work, but I bet it'll be worth it in the end. What I've seen so far looks promising, especially that glitch...

Well, I suppose it's unfortunate timing that this has to be compared contemporaneously with the new mk3 movie. This appeared to be played proficiently, and certainly did not look simple to make. However it does not seem to have a clear goal, and doesn't not display much of anything unexpected to the casual viewer. If this was for an unrelated game I might have been more receptive to it, but in light of the alternatives it seems kind of dull unfortunately. I do hope you consider these comments positively and that we will see more work from you in the future! Here's an encode for those kraving more mortal kombat action but too lazy to set up an emulator :D

Sorry, it's so hard to hold back my enthusiasm :) I think this has potential. Is the falling through the floor trick an intentional part of the game or a glitch? I assume the latter. Also, have you tested out damage boosting? It seems you might also save time at the end of the level when it's giving you points for health left.

Well I wasn't terribly excited about this run, because I'm not really that familiar with Metroid, just enough to appreciate that it can be beaten in <10 minutes. But I watched it and it is quite impressive. I can't imagine even planning a route for this sort of thing. Not to mention optimizing every single second. This is the sort of movie we should recognize as totally awesome. Can't wait to see if you can't think of something else soon King Tom.

Nice, good luck! By the way you should be able to rotate the screen in the emulator, I think it's under the emulation menu.

I still don't understand why Grimlock is the final boss, especially since Megatron is the second to last one. Terrible game, nice short run very enhanced by familiarity with the difficulty involved. Yes vote so I can add to the AVGN list as an official publication :) Here's my attempt at an encode.
