Yay! Great job guys. I wanted to peek at the new Lua/BasicBot front end but failed... I downloaded the "Lua Pack" and unzipped in the FCEUX folder. The documentation first says to run LuaBot.lua and later it says to run LuaBot_front.lua. I can't find either, though I may just be slow...

I do want to try to make a utility at some point... BTW the reason I was able to do the NES titles with Excel is the new .fc2 format for FCEUX... It stores button presses in essentially plain text so it is easy to import as a fixed-width spreadsheet and then apply simple functions like COUNTIF... all the other formats will make me think :S

Yeah I suck :( Actually I stopped trying to be such a perfectionist and am running through the game entirely before attempting to "finalize" anything :P Have found at least one cool trick too. But I'm also not working on it constantly as evidenced by my posts elsewhere. I still really want to finish this. Don't hate me :)

While I'm fine with people voting no because they didn't like the run, I don't really get this logic. There's three Castlevania games for the GBA. Eight runs isn't that excessive. It's a bit like saying "This is the sixth Mega Man run for the NES, outside of the obsoleted ones."
I don't really get this logic. 8 runs / 3 games is not the same as 6 runs / 6 games, right? Anyways, I don't think that "having too many movies" is a terrible thing. This is a good fast movie (albeit a bit repetitive) that embodies much of what TASvideos is about to me: speed, glitches and route planning.

I'll lay odds that this won't be the last we'll see of this game ;) Great work guys!

Well, I'm not as convinced that J should have been used now that I've watched the run and read the submission text completely :) There is a fair amount of text, and it is nice to have some weapon variation. However, the boss fights are really long and slow down the pace of the movie significantly to me. Also, cools graphics and whatnot, but a lot of noticeable lag... may be unavoidable of course. And I am also curious about the controller configuration thing... maybe it allows for some trick? I liked it. Yes.

Awesome! Level 4 in particular was really nice. The timing was great too, releasing the lemmings at the earliest moment. Most of it was on the dull side though I admit -- watching stairs being built is boring :( And while the NES version is charming in its backwardness, I guess a different port would be nice too, if only for allowing more than 14 lemmings at once -- I didn't realize that was the case. That said, I'm pretty curious to see how the rest will turn out, even on NES... (translation: please do more! please?)

The first one is Hot Rod http://www.smartcine.com/hot_rod_review.html Haven't seen it myself, though the trailer seemed kind of funny... anybody seen it? Edit: Oh, and the third one is http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=bratz%20movie&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi Looks like some quality cinema there :S

For those of us who are too lame to use MHS, a while back I added save/load capabilities to dega's built in python memory watch function. http://aldentas.googlepages.com/memory-alden.py Put that in the dega folder and rename to just memory.py (and delete/rename the old one) Oh, and to use this or the old one, you must install Python 2.4 (not 2.5) http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.4/

I remember in a previous version that drawing to the screen lagged by one frame, so if it was based on memory values it would be one off. The way around it was to use guiregister to register the drawing function so that it would draw at the same time as the rest of the graphics. Just a thought :) Looks cool...

Agreed. I don't see where to change it, I guess it needs to be done by someone who can edit the submission (not the publication). Or I'm solw :P Oh, and: Nice movie. Edit: it's fixed! Thanks, I'm anal retentive that way

Yes vote Am I imagining things, or did the arcade version start differently? Also: I think this game probably has the highest chance of any to have a "perfect" movie -- heck, this one might be already :) I'll post it in Gruefood Delight in a bit.

Don't know if this is feasible, but it would be cool if you could build the GUI in Lua and then make it possible to tweak it / change it entirely (would probably have to have some huge library to import though). I can think of a few applications where it would be nice to have a sort of "control panel"

But as far as I know, input from a movie file does not register. So playing it is fine, but replaying it isn't. Maybe you can fix that for FCEU Mr. qFox :)

Don't know if it will work in this situation, but there's usually a memory address that reflects which buttons are being pressed. If you can find a fairly unused button that will affect this address you can AND it appropriately to detect the button press... and then during the movie it would work the same way. That said, I'm hoping there will be a way to have scripts look at input from a movie at some point, it would be very useful.

qFox, you're awesome. So will this script serve as a template, with a GUI to make changes to it?

Sweet! I'm excited to watch this... And yes, I'm glad you submitted it, even if only to cancel it immediately. As Tombad points out this puts it into the database and makes it more a "part" of the site. Ultimately I'd like to see Gruefood Delight or something similar incorporated into the site proper, as opposed to being my own vanity project :) Edit: Oh yeah -- You're the man DarkKobold!
