This one dropped my jaw a little in amazement. Link to video I always did wonder how ole' Mega Man would fare in a free-for-all gauntlet.

Good run! I especially enjoyed the synchronization, (especially the bits of humor you interjected, throughout).

Looking outstanding, WST! Precision-optimized TASes like these look so smooth and crisp. I seriously think all of you Sonic TASers (WST, marzojr, TheYogWog, feeuzz, Aglar, Tee-N-Tee, nitsuja, Qwerty, Upthorn) should form like a "superfriends" group and demolish every Sonic TAS record on this site :D

I'd love to offer a possible solution, but doing so would be such a conflict of interest in the spirit of this competition. But where there's a will, there's a way!

I've always been amazed about this one: [2139] GBA The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past "Palace of the Four Sword" by Tompa & Yuzuhara_3 in 05:16.73 The walking out-of-bounds part is cool, but what always blew my mind was how, once Link reached a certain point in the map data, the game just goes ballistic on Link. Everything from the graphics, to Link's inventory, even his perpetual Rupee count, goes haywire. For me, it be very cool to see a video breaking this kind of glitch down.

Good stuff, Bisqwit. I wouldn't mind watching you do a whole series on breaking down TAS tricks.

Awesome! Thanks for linking this, Patashu. Looking through the user guide, I notice this emulator has frame advance. If it could someday also record movies, there's a game or two I have in mind.

Wait a sec, how do you make these TAS things again? I plug my NES controller in and hit record on my VCR...

I love the work you put into the submission, Aqfaq. I can't wait to see an encode! This is the second golf game TASed in a short period. Reminds me playing PSX Hot Shots Golf, back in the day.

Pwning E. Honda in arm wrestling is worth the price of admission alone :p Seriously, this would make a fun little TAS.

Ah, that's right! The GT code! In that case, maybe Janus will come back around sometime and consider giving this one another go. In all likelihood, this could be a half-hour run. edit: Got a bit excited. Maybe more like a 45 min run :p

There's a speedrunner on twitch.tv named Jiseed who's using an apparent recently discovered debug function in Breath of Fire, leading to a branch name he calls "DeeJ%" Jiseed's DeeJ% speedrun: http://www.twitch.tv/jiseed/c/3966113 (I have no idea how to embed a twitch channel) (From his channel FAQ) Q: What is "DeeJ%"? How do you perform the name select 'glitch'? A: DeeJ% is using a suspected debug function found in the name select in order to skip past much of the game and only battle the final 5 bosses. As for how to do it - this courtesy of Myria from the Dragon Tear forums: 1) Go to New Game to get to the name entry screen. Be very careful with the next few steps - don't press anything I don't say, or the cheat will lock out. 2) On controller 2, press and hold A, Y, L, and R. Doing this with one hand really sucks. 3) On controller 1, while those buttons on controller 2 are being held, press the following very carefully in order: up 4 times, right 2 times, down 8 times, left 1 time. 4) If you did it correctly, the background will turn red. At this point, you can let go of controller 2. If the screen didn't turn red, you are locked out of the cheat. To reset the lockout, cancel the name entry screen and try again to reset the lockout. 5) Enter one of these as the name of your character and hit End. You can't make mistakes, or it'll lock you out; the screen will change back to normal if this happens. The names are case-sensitive. RYU CHUN VEGA KEN DeeJ Fei The screen color will turn back to normal as the config window comes up. Set your config how you like and start the game on the new file. **** Due to being a code, this likely wouldn't be an accepted run. Anyhow, it's pretty cool how this game can now be beaten in under an hour.

You should now do Langrisser 4. The most interesting route (B Route) is the shortest. And some stages can be completed quite quickly. And who doesn't love Ivar?
You know, I've yet to play any of the Langrisser games on the next-gen consoles (Saturn, PSX). I've seen some playthroughs of 4 on YouTube. Looks good (nice soundtrack, as well). What's your opinion on part 3? Certain reviews seem to paint it as the black sheep of the series.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Nach, you've got me all wrong! I actually thought the WIP said 'Star Force', another foreign NES game. I can send you money plead my case. Honest!

@Aqfaq Lol! It's actually good enough to live up that name, in my opinion. @thelegendarymudkip Awesome WIP on the front page! Your team's killing it so far :D

Yeah, I took it about halfway through the game, before re-doing the stage due to a different strategy. Thanks again for catching it. I also have the suggested description at the bottom of my submission text (I didn't yet see it included with the publication).

This is a humorous looking beat-em-up! For some reason, it reminds me of the old arcade game 'D.J. Boy'. Did you test to see whether it would be faster to attack the cat boss as it's moving back on-screen, instead of waiting for it to approach you again on the other side?

Out of the six games I've TASed so far, I've had basically no desire to go back and play again. It's not a bitter feeling or anything, more like..."it's finished"; nothing left to do here. What say you, TASers? How are your experiences here?

I think it would be sweet to see a tactically optimized run of this put together (Alisa or Emma playthroughs). I played this one to the fullest when it came out in the states in 2000; definitely put in over 100 hours of playtime. I'm currently watching a pretty good WIP of the Alisa Scenario on niconico. I already see room for tactical improvement in certain places, however: With that stated, I'm firmly under the belief that an exception would have to be made to keep the battle animations ON. Otherwise, every battle map would be a rapid affair of flash kills; even the menus would go by so quick you couldn't even at least read stats like HP and weapon statistics. The novelty would fade very fast in a game with 60+ missions.

2,000 frames already? That's encouraging! So the ceramic boots are roughly 18% faster than the marine's... If combined with the money grabs in Alsedo Ocean, that would at least save the 7 seconds or so that it takes to buy them, after defeating Ice Bomber (in addition to the possible small savings made inside the Ice Palace). I still also think time would be saved from buying the Small Spear early on (2x attack power). You know, I could definitely see a new run breaking sub-40 :) edit: After re-watching again, here are estimates of where time could be saved with the Small Spear: 1) Purapril Sewers Guardian: 1.75 sec. 2) Tribal Warriors (Lilypad Jungle): 2 sec. 3) Gragg & Glagg: 16 sec. (Additionally, 1 Firestorm could be saved en-route to the boss, inflicting faster damage)
