oh and why has no one tried earthworm jim 2 for a run?
because the "Puppy Love" levels totally ruin the game for TAS purposes, they're boring and repetive as hell
That didn't stop the first Earthworm Jim movie from being made with the boring Andy Asteroids level between every level. I, for one, would be interested in seeing an EWJ2 run, although I think the SNES version should be done.

It desynched for me in the Shredder battle as well, then I realized I had the wrong version of the ROM. Maybe that's the problem in your case as well. Are you guys kidding? Automatic running is probably what made the run Mazzeneko did so pale in comparison to this one. Of course it should be kept. Awesome run. Obvious yes vote.

Sorry for having to bump a dead topic, but if anyone actually decides to continue, go ahead and let me know so I can give you the part of the run where I left off (it only kills 2 enemies in Stage 4 Scene 1, but it's still something). I would upload it now, but I'm just too lazy.

Well, at least you don't look in the mirror every day and see an atrocity.

Meh. I think that if you agree to TASes in the first place, that saying hacks are evil and shouldn't be TASed is a bit hypocritical. I see nothing wrong with TASing a hack as long as it is accepted as a good quality hack worthy of a TAS, which in this case is very true. It's the same with regular games in that some games don't deserve a TAS. So why should hacks be any different? Another note, I can't wait for the 120 exit run to come out.

Of course I wouldn't object. If you get the time, feel free to continue it. Although Stage 4 Scene 1 would take forever to do (and I have a feeling it would just be a whole lot of abuse of the 2P downward attack bug)...

More bad news... Now that my summer vacation is over, the next time that I will have the time to pick back up on this is next summer. And that's just too long of a wait...by then, Gens 9c will be ancient history and my run will probably be rejected because of that.

To tell you the truth, I've sort of lost interest in this (not to mention I was not looking forward to doing Stage 4 anyway). I may pick back up on this, but right now, I'm just too busy with stuff like preparing for college and website administration... Sorry, guys.

Yeah. You can't do it on single enemies.

Sure, but it would either still be boring or lose a rediculous amount of time.

Are you sure the ROM you have is working? Are you loading from the savestate or not? If so, try it without the savestate and see if it works. (and if you haven't already, set both controllers to 6 buttons) That's all I can think of.

Stage 3 is finished, and here is the savestate. The first set of enemies looks kind of crappy, but there's nothing I can really do about it. Goldie's AI seems to work almost completely independent from the players' actions. Interesting note: Every enemy on the elevator has at least a full lifebar of health. Scary, huh? Another interesting note: At the end when I slam Robot Axel, he makes the sound of a regular enemy dying.

Sure thing. Stage 3 Scene 2 is complete, and here's the savestate in case anyone needs it. I got ripped off on this scene, as each attack deals only half the damage as they did in a 1 player game. Regardless, I'm still 43 seconds ahead of my 1 player run.

Damn! I didn't realize that you could watch a movie from a savestate as long as you check the "Read Only" box... So here's a savestate starting at the beginning of Stage 3, so you guys can get to the new stuff quick.

A request, whenever you post an update, please include a savestate. I thought skipping through a movie by using savestates didn't work in Gens...

Stage 3 Scene 1 finished. It looks sloppy when you watch it, but that's because of VERY non-cooperative AI (for instance, once I had to do an Electric Hand right into thin air to make the Signal above me move down so I could throw him in the hole...I don't know about you, but that makes no sense at all to me). Despite that and more lame lag, I'm currently 55 seconds ahead of my 1 player run.

One thought: Since Blaze has the stronger jump-kick, shouldn't she be administring the initial kick? In either way the other character can take the chickens meanwhile. It doesn't matter who jump kicks first, because I still have to do the same number of jump attacks in the end to kill the first girl, and then I would still have to slam the other one, resulting in the same time either way. So I just chose Zan because then I wouldn't have to switch sides afterwards. Didn't even think about the chickens...oh well, I don't think anyone will care that much about it, anyway.

Mona and Lisa beaten so fast it's hilarious. At the beginning, I had to do a jump attack because when they land for the first time, one of them will ALWAYS jump when they get up and get hit in midair. Other than that, it went surprisingly smooth. Thanks to this massively improved strategy, I am now a whopping 44 seconds ahead of my 1 player run!

And why hasn't anyone mentioned SuperMarioBros. 2 (Japan)? That game's freaking impossible even with warps. I actually found that game easier than the original SMB (mainly because World 8 in SMB is friggin' impossible to do in so few lives).

It's certainly inferior to FCEU though, in my opinion.

The obvious question is of course, could you have used this before somewhere? Probably... but I'm not going to ask you to redo it. It would be awesome if you could pull this off on Mona Lisa. The only place I can think of is the fight with Bruce and Roo. However, there's a small technicality that makes it even more complicated than it already is (it's really hard to reproduce this and do the highest damage while at the same time not hitting each other). Roo has to be stunned while one player is jumping, because he'll jump if he's not. That would just make it rediculously hard to to and wouldn't pay off very much in the end. Actually you're doing the same damage to two enemies, right? So it's probably 100 damage / second. The crazy thing is, the more I experimented with this, the weirder it was. Now I honestly have no clue how much damage is going on, but it's a hell of a lot, I can tell you that.

Here it is, Stage 2 Scene 2 utterly conquered. Unfortunately, even after utilizing the time-saving trick I mentioned above 4 times in the scene, it's been reduced from 22 seconds to only 15 seconds faster than the 1 player run, mainly due to lame ass lag which I couldn't avoid. Hopefully I can get way ahead by using the trick on Mona and Lisa.

Only Round 1? That's kind of bare for a submission... I did like the whole "running combo into skipping back into another running combo" thing. However, I also see some spots where you can improve, the big one being not wasting your time killing the two punks that come with Dave. Have to vote no on this one. It's just not enough material on an already laughably easy game to warrant publishing.
