Posting that video should be grounds for a permaban.

Thank you for making this topic, arflech. If you hadn't, I would've never known to update my FoxIt, and the exploitive PDF that just popped up a few minutes ago (fuck you and your malware-infested ads, Something Awful) would've gotten into my system. But thankfully I had updated FoxIt when I saw this topic a few weeks ago. Edit: Uploaded that PDF to VirusTotal, and only one antivirus (BitDefender) caught it as a PDF JavaScript exploit.

In case anyone cares, the creator (SCF) posted in the SA thread about his plans for a new game: I've started working on something new, but it's not Exit Fate 2. I couldn't take doing another game with a massive cast like that right now. The new game will be completely original and be more of a spiritual successor to Last Scenario. There'll be another demo as soon as I get that far (it helps smooth out some issues and get feedback early on), but it'll take a while since I'm throwing out even more of the original RPGMaker game engine than in EF (for example, through some hackery I can now read keyboard input straight from the Windows API and bypass the awkward default system) He's quite the trooper. Just finished this game and already he's started on a new one. Also, I finally beat the extra optional boss in Last Scenario. Spoilers (highlight to see): To beat it with the minimal amount of grinding, you'll need the following: At least 3500 HP for each character. You can get Life Capsules from the Hydra in the Black Mausoleum. To speed it up, equip the Lure (get it at a Hex trading place), Thief Glove, Steal on all characters, and Party Hat on one of them. For the low Res characters like Hilbert, he'll need at least 3800 HP to survive Invertigo. Maxed strength for Matilda. This is optional, but it speeds up the battle, and you're going to be at the Black Mausoleum anyway, so you might as well hit up the Black Dragons for Strength Capsules. 3 Hard Hats and a Mountain Crest. This is so Planetary Nova, its strongest attack, will heal your party. You can get a Mountain Crest at Randipur, and you'll need 30 Mole Hunter tiles to trade in for the 3 Hard Hats. The fastest way to get them is to go to the Kohlen mine, equip the Hex Champ Medal, Lure, and Swing on your fastest character. Run from all battles except moles, and use Swing for instant victory. Intelligence/Mind Capsules from the enemy at the Hall of Judgment. This is also optional (I personally didn't do it, but it'll make your nuker more powerful and have more MP to use). 3 Warding Charms. To get a third one, trade in Selene(?)'s tile for two more. Trade in all the tiles that give good items. Although you can't get them back, you can make an alternate save afterwards. The noteworthy ones are: 8x Infernal Ash (around 5000 damage to all enemies), Sacral Gown (auto-Regen), sacred orbs, diamond dusts, soul elixirs, all the capsules, etc. Equip your lowest Res character with the Arch-Angel's Halo and the Mountain Crest. Everyone else gets a Warding Charm and a Hard Hat. For spellcards, equip the two fastest characters with Earthquake or X-Shield, and one of them with Stance and Fury (heal-all for 1000 HP without crisis, and you're all immune to Berserk). Give Enlight to someone as well. Your nuker should obviously be wearing the Lord-Sorceror's Gown. Have everyone's crisis ready. Use Invincibility, Slash, Nuke, and Infernal Ash. This should kill all the helpers on the first turn. Next turn, make sure to use Mega Shield/Bastion and Stance. Once you've killed the helpers twice, they won't come back. Then you have to deal with the battle carefully so no one dies. Here are his attacks: Planetary Nova: Heals your party. Invertigo: His most deadly attack, does a shitload of magical damage to one target. You shouldn't die with an M-Shield and full HP though. Grand Apocalypse: Does moderate damage to the party. Recover with Fury + Diamond Dust, or a Sacred Orb if your party members have low MP. Meteor Shower: Multi-hit attack, not very threatening. Breakdown: Physical attack to party. Recover with Fury + Diamond Dust. You must keep Bastion/Mega Shield on your party EVERY TURN. Not doing so is asking for trouble. Your two fastest characters should only use their crisis for Bastion/Mega Shield. One of them has Stance, so use that to build crisis quickly. With this safe-but-sure strategy, you're almost guaranteed to beat him, but it will take quite a while (at least 30 minutes). Damn, I type too much.

You have to use either of those tags: [ color=#DEE3E7] (for the posts on darker background) or [ color=#EFEFEF] (for the other posts). Just make sure to remove the extra space before 'color' and add the closing tags. Thanks for the response. End game spoilers ahead: I got all 75 characters and then beat all the shadow opponents up through Shadow Yan Angwa. Is that the end of the secrets, or is there some super hidden holy-fuck boss somewhere (already fought the one on the spiritual plane)? Overall, while some of the bosses are quite challenging (the ice elemental in the forest who freezes your characters and kills them with no access to Melt or Restore, the demon commandos, the shadow clan leader, the optional spiritual plane boss, and of course the shadow opponents), most of the storyline bosses are easier than the storyline bosses in Last Scenario. There also hasn't really been a boss that's on par with the difficulty level of Alexander either (although Shadow Yan Angwa did come close).

Another great RPG with a lot of thought behind it. The only thing I don't like is the FFT-style battle minigame (because I suck at it). At one point in the game it just decides to stop being nice (and fair, for that matter) all together: Spoilers, highlight to see: (how do you make text invisible? The closest I can get to is white) The battle at Vanaheim (?), after you killed their emperor. You're outnumbered 2-to-1, which pretty much forces you to go on an assassination mission to kill the enemy commander. The only problem is, she's a fucking tank who refuses to die and can one-shot pretty much anyone in your group, even at half health. Also, sometimes she decides to be a bitch and sends her whole army out while staying behind the front lines. Even with my entire army as archers, I still can't kill her, and I'm about ready to either just give up or try and find more recruits. Edit: (more spoilers) I finally got past that battle and beat the game, but god damn that was ridiculous. The final boss and ending were abrupt and disappointing given all the buildup. The final boss's fingers didn't even damage my party (except for Rock) and the only thing that made it semi-challenging was the amount of HP he had. My all-star magic team pretty much steamrolled through the battle with no problems. I wonder if there's an Alexander-esque hard optional boss in this game. Is there anything worth noting in the chest that requires 75 men to open?

Stages: Stage 5 from Battle Garegga. Not only is the music excellent and the atmosphere immersive (you ascend into the dark thunderclouds to battle the main enemy fleet), but it has my favorite boss in all of the shoot-em-up genre: Black Heart. The only thing I wish the level had was an expanded boss rush (like the cloud stage remake in Battle Bakraid). The Great Glacier from FF VII. I know a lot of people hate this place, but I absolutely love the atmosphere and music, which work in tandem to produce the "alone in a snow field" feeling. Noteworthy boss mentions: Strength from House of the Dead 2. This whole boss fight is incredible. You've got a huge chainsaw-wielding psycho chasing after you in a labyrinth, and he only takes damage from headshots so you have to be a really good shot. You feel the tension as he jumps from a ledge to slice you or disappears and suddenly bashes through a wall to your right, catching you off-guard. Mr. Julius from Violent Storm - Freaking hilarious and awesome, this guy defines narcissism. You can't get more badass than attacking someone by flexing and posing.

I told them I liked Final Fantasy VII (Whether or not it's a "good game" is not up for debate here), they literally went "Ew!" and then started telling me to play Final Fantasy VI. I don't understand why they can't both be good.

33. Half-Life 2 15. Halo: Combat Evolved A...aha....haha....AHAHAHA! That's a riot. Also, Streets of Rage 2 is nowhere on there, yet a handful of football and wrestling games are. Are you serious?

It wasn't before, but it is now. It goes up through halfway on Stage 5 Scene 2. You know what's funny? When I was doing my whole Starcraft UMS map thing, I started this ambitious map (even posted a YouTube video of it) and ended up not finishing it. I seem to have a knack for that apparently.

The run's pretty much dead. I wish I had the motivation to continue it, but I don't. If anyone wants to continue it, be my guest. I'm sure you guys were getting sick of me fumbling through it for the past 3 1/2 years anyway.

God, no. (Unless you using it in a random battle to get levels.) I personally end up stopping watching any FF6 run, run come World of Ruin, thanks to Setzer. Same here. I love the game, but I just can't bring myself to watch a speedrun of it because of insta-death exploits up the ass.

I'm using Firefox, and I haven't heard of any better ones so if you have any suggestions I'm all ears. And no, I don't use just Spybot and Ad-Aware. I was simply citing a rare occurrence in which (in principle) having such protection is a good safety net. It's not like this happens to me every day, or every month, or even every year for that matter. My PC has been pretty consistent with being virus-free and the last virus I had that actually had a visible effect was at least 5 years ago on a different computer.

I use AV and anti-spyware because it gives me peace of mind. Sure, YouTube and GameFAQs aren't going to give me viruses, but that first result in a Google search just might. In fact, that happened to me recently. The very first result was a virus-infested pile of shit that tried to infect me before I could even close the window. Spybot and Ad-Aware both immediately threw red flags, telling me that the site attempted to alter my registry and execute a process.

Oh, I also forgot to mention the Space Race music for Pac-Man World. It's definitely one of my favorite space-themed tracks. Adding to that, Black Heart is one of the best shmup boss battles ever, seriously. Amen to that. It took me so long to get used to his infamous bullet cage pattern, but once I did, it made me feel like a champ. To me, Black Heart represents the equally-determined, equally-skilled rival that we always love to face in games. The "good" bad guy whom you can't help but have a lot of respect and admiration for. I'm a big fan of that because I tend to like the whole idea of duels in general. And of course, it helps to be a badass stealth bomber too (or would it be a stealth fighter?).

I love it when, even with the correct ROM version and the emulator linked to in the submission text, it still desynchs immediately. If anyone could upload this to Google Video or something, I'd be very grateful (my campus doesn't allow torrents).

Like I said, *every* sequel sucks (at least on someone's opinion). No exceptions. Useless thread, IMO. And by that logic every thread is useless in someone's opinion. For example, I think the grammar threads are useless.

Oh, I forgot to include this: Wouldn't it be easier to ask what is the *greatest* sequel you have ever seen? Hmm...I'd have to say that my two favorite sequels are Streets of Rage 2 and Terminator 2. Both kick so much ass they should be illegal.

I'm only considering the ones that were big letdowns. A lot of sequels weren't quite as good as the original, but they were still very worthy sequels and didn't disappoint, so I won't name those. Movies: Cube 2 (see below for my take on it). Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom wasn't one of my favorites simply because it deviated really far from Raiders of the Lost Ark (thankfully, they returned to the Raiders-style action in Last Crusade). I haven't seen Crystal Skull yet, and probably won't because I liked the series ending on a high note in Last Crusade and don't want it potentially ruined. Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions. Is it just me, or did the storyline take a turn for the nonsensical? Half the time I don't know what the hell is going on. At least Reloaded had some pretty good action scenes though, but for me the highlight of the original was the story. Revolutions...well, it just felt like a chore to watch. The idea of Neo being fueled by love or whatever (forgot which movie that was introduced in) made me want to projectile vomit across the room at my screen. Games: Mario 2 doesn't really count because we all know what the real version of SMB2 is. Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge. This is a fairly obscure one. For those who don't know, Hasbro released Frogger: He's Back!, a 3D adaptation of Frogger, where he has new abilities and more importantly new worlds to explore. The gameplay was great, the worlds were excellent, and the soundtrack kicked ass. Then came Frogger 2, with annoying controls, lack of creativity, only a few interesting levels, and an inferior soundtrack, resulting in an overall disappointing sequel. RC Revenge: Even more oscure than the one above. Its predecessor, Re-Volt, was an RC racing game that plays a lot like Mario Kart, with items and such. It was simply a fun game to play, and it actually had realistic physics, unlike a lot of racing games. The physics made the game a lot more challenging because you actually had to be a good driver to win. You could also build your own tracks and race on them with a pretty flexible track editor. Then came RC Revenge, which took everything good about Re-Volt and discarded it. The realistic physics are gone, and in its place are very clunky unresponsive physics. The tracks were fairly dumb, the track editor was very limited, and to top it all off, it had both vastly inferior graphics AND framerate. There's simply no excuse for that, being that it's a sequel and not a prequel. Final Fantasy IX: Though not a sequel in a technical sense, I think this deserves a mention. This was the one that turned me off from the series. Zidane...let's just say I don't like this guy. The main bad guy isn't any better, and combine that with a lame love story and one of the most random endings ever (complete with a final boss out of nowhere), I could see exactly what road this series was going down. Did you see the same movie as me? Because when I watched Cube 2, I saw a badly written, badly thought out, badly executed ball of crap with some horrendous acting to boot. Everything about it was pure suck. *begin big Cube 2 rant, complete with spoilers* I completely agree with you. Being a huge fan of the original, when I saw Cube 2, I was shaking my head in disbelief, saying to myself "How could they have fucked it up this badly?" The first big problem I have with it is none of the characters are likeable, they're all extremely irritating and I found myself rooting for the traps instead of them. The only one who was remotely half-tolerable was the guy who kept getting eaten near the end, but even he was annoying with his peppy attitude. Half of the characters were complete throwaways with no character development at all (see below). Another thing that got on my nerves was the random interjection of a very weird, completely pointless love scene between the two most useless characters. When you're narrowly dodging death traps in every other room of a 4D tesseract, there are no love scenes. Period. The group even had the exact same structure as it did in the first Cube. Just replace Quentin with that jackass who kept collecting the watches, and there you go. To top it all off, the biggest complaint I have is that the logical problem-solving steps that were present in the first movie are gone. In Cube, the characters used their collective minds to figure out just what the hell is going on, how the cube is constructed, and using this knowledge, they construct an escape plan. In Cube 2, they come across a dead mathematical genius who wrote all over himself, promptly decided "This problem is impossible, let's spend the rest of the movie wandering aimlessly with our thumbs up our asses and only a vague clue as to what's going on", and right near the end they discover "This cube is imploding, nevermind why! Let's get the hell out via (quite literally) a plothole!" And to top it all off, the only surviving character is executed, as if to say "fuck you for watching this movie". Thankfully, Cube Zero was somewhat better, and they did away with all the super high-tech bullshit (returning to the original dark, gritty atmosphere), but it still wasn't as good as the original in my opinion. *end big Cube 2 rant* Man, that was a long post. Sorry about that.

Have you ever made lyrics to game music? No, in fact that's one quality of VG music that I like: it's lyricless.

I appreciate your concern. I was right, the weeks after that post were pure hell. I didn't even have enough hours in the day to get all my projects finished, but thankfully now that's all behind me. And I don't know what happened with you and the other people at the forum you were talking about, but don't worry about them. The only thing important in life is Streets of Rage. :) Ironically, it was a SOR forum. I hate to let you down, but I haven't touched the run since my last post. I'm not going to lie, working on this run feels more like a chore than anything, and now I'm working on Starcraft UMS maps (yeah, I know...boo, hiss hiss!) which are geniunely fun to work on to be honest. I used to feel the same way about this run, but that was a few stages ago, and now it seems like all the fun parts of the game are finished. I don't think this will be the end of the run, but it will be for probably a month or so, when I will inevitably tire of UMS mapping.
