Glad to see you have your priorities straight. Mistakes first, college second. Seriously though, don't worry about the rerecord count. It's not like it's a uniform way of measuring effort or anything. A lot of the time, astronomically high rerecord counts indicate a person had to redo levels over and over (Sonic games are a good example of this). To be honest, if you hadn't restarted the whole run 8 times with 0 rerecords each time, your rerecord count would be a hell of a lot higher. You should be proud anyway. I never even did a test run on the game I've been TASing for the last year and a half...

It's not the size of the rerecord count that matters, it's the motion of the TAS. ...Something like that.

And let's not forget all the wonderful things sold on eBay... "I'd buy that for a dollar!"

I like the idea of having a place for the "cool but not fast" TASes to be seen. Doesn't that fit under "concept demos"?

My entire wallpaper directory. What does it consist mostly of? Or is it a mixed bag?

I recently had one of those urges to try and find a new background for my desktop. I like the one I have now, but it's been my background for over two years now. As I was searching, the thought occured to me...what kinds of backgrounds do you guys like? For example, I'm mostly into landscapes (particularly beaches, endless oceans, and deserts) and semi-abstract backgrounds. My current wallpaper (the one I've had for a long time) combines them both: http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1718/mgeosigqs6.jpg (title is "Geometric Splendor") Feel free to post your current background and/or what you look for in one.

The character HAL 9000 is a unique villain. He's quite the anomaly. Yeah, that's really the only thing I liked about the movie.

So much for freedom... Edit: The more I read about it, the more this bill scares the living hell out of me. Basically now the president can detain indefinitely anyone residing inside the U.S. (including U.S. citizens) that is declared an enemy (at least according to what I've read). And who has the authority to make the judgment call on who's an enemy and who's not? The president, of course. So you might as well say goodbye to freedom of speech... Theoretically speaking, it takes habeas corpus and throws it right out the window for everyone. I'm absolutely appalled that such extreme legislation wasn't killed at square one, nevertheless passed. Seriously, how long before this country becomes a dictatorship? Three, maybe four years? We all know Bush is going to try and weasel in a third term (remember, this was the same guy who did not receive the majority popular vote both in 2000 and in 2004), and who knows, we might soon see legislation banning the limit on the number of terms a president can serve. Seems like a slippery slope, yes. But part of that slippery slope has already become a reality.

Yes, the same can be said (and with a lot more emphasis) for CS majors.

Just watched the run and it looks great. Hopefully there won't be a version 9...

You might want to take a look at this topic, which has a lot of information regarding the game and how to get the Vulcan faster. As for the WIP, it seems like you let some enemies escape and took out quite a few enemies slowly. In stage 1-2, when the two robots came down, you took them out and ignored the other weaker enemies. This costs you time because each enemy killed deducts one second from the timer. On the stage 1-3 boss, is it possible to skip the last lasso and kill the boss before it can start shooting? This would make it slightly faster. Also, you didn't get the hidden bomb in the first stage at the top left corner. It could prove useful later on. Sorry if I seem picky, but I want the run to be as good as possible and I hope this feedback proves useful.

It's just what you get when you factor it. Or are you asking about how to factor?

Just give up and give us an option to change it back, Ceej. +1 for the GameFAQs reference and +1 for the right idea.

I actually enjoy it. Twice as many presents at Christmas! I would imagine that those whose birthdays are close to Christmas would usually receive the "I can't afford it because of Christmas" excuse.

The only thing that doesn't make it awesome IMO is that Blaze is not frenetic enough for the music. Say, there's a kick then a strong hat in the music every 2 steps, yet Blaze does change direction every 4 steps, which does look a little bit slow. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "kick" and "strong hat" (I don't know the slightest damn thing about music, so no surprise), but the speed at which Blaze does the intervals just seemed the most natural to me. Actually, I had the opposite opinion which was that Blaze's dance was so fast and chaotic that someone watching the movie the first time wouldn't know what the hell was going on. Besides, I thought that Blaze walking randomly left right up down could have been funnier, with some frame advance moves (the frame advance tornado) that would represent that tune you hear sometimes in the music (some kind of guitar, but it could be another part of the music, your choice). Well, I kind of had that idea, but instead going just left to right for the part with the....ah, hell if I can explain it, but the part where the music seems to wobble. It would've been like the bar chart found on audio players that changes as the music changes. Unfortunately the music was just too damn fast for Blaze to be able to do it without it looking like redundant wobbling. Also, when I thought about dancing, I imagined Zan and Blaze doing some sort of synchronized dance. That would be a practical impossibility considering one player still has to deal with the Yamato half the time. I had originally planned that sort of thing for the beginning of Stage 7 Scene 2, but now that I found out about the rediculously long recovery time for Blaze's back attack, I might have to scrap that and go for a big fight scene instead. Either way, Zan will get his time in the spotlight once the first Yamato is down. Edit: You know, I just noticed something interesting. I had found out that the intervals at the beginning were 24 frames apiece by trial-and-error, and Qlex came to the exact same conclusion (1/2 interval = 12 frames) by dividing out the beats per minute. I just find that to be pretty neat.

I don't really see where (with the exception of the Roo/Bruce fight) the run got tiresome because of lengthy lifebars. Guess it's just a matter of opinion. However, it's a tad too late to start over anyway.

There aren't a whole lot more places where team attacks would be appropriate other than the ones I've already done. I actually did use upgraded blitzes (and useful downgraded blitzes later on like Zan's 1-star dash) quite a bit throughout the run. That's been discussed. I chose the US version because it's exponentially harder than the Japanese version.

If you have nothing to do, then dance. That's exactly what I did, hence why the music getting cut off is a problem.

Bleh, I'm stuck. The more I look at the current progress (2/3 through the first Yamato), the more dissatisfied I am with it. Sometimes the music gets cut off by Zan's constant yelling, and other times it just doesn't flow well. Unfortunately, I can't think of any way I can make it better, so again, I'm stuck. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I'll never understand the increasing amount of interest in someone who 90% of the time contributes nothing to the topics he posts in. *agrees with Truncated in that it's just not funny*

This is why I'm always reluctant to go to newer versions.
