I suppose this works because you can shoot your first arrow earlier, before the eye opens, and then stack subsequent arrows on top of each other by approaching the eye while shooting. Or maybe it's just a game glitch.

Wow... This warp glitch is so strange that it can easily be done unassisted! Of course, navigation to the final boss area afterwards seems impossible without assistance since invisible objects seem to push you around since a map tile could be anything (plus it's impossible to beat the final boss without the dust as mentioned in the submission unless you have precision sword swinging), but still... It's funny how entering a door backwards can horribly mess up a game. I find it interesting how some of the glitched graphics inside the warp change after entering the start menu, as if they are coming from some sprite buffer in the RAM that is never cleared or something. (I discovered that when playing around; not found in the actual movie) Yes vote! I agree that this should not obsolete the warpless run. I saw that after watching this warped one and it shows a whole lot more of the game play. The story can actually be followed in that one, and I don't think most people know what the whale is at the end unless they played the game (or the warpless run). I suppose Super Mario Brothers influenced the goomba- and shy guy-like enemies found in the warpless run. Those were strange to see.

Hmm... I recall that the previous OoT run used the old Jabo Direct3D 6 1.5.2 plugin. Was that video plugin used because Jabo Direct3D 8 1.6 caused OoT to desynch in Mupen? If not, it would be nice to know why that ancient plugin was used...

According to this, box.net scans through the files you put up there for personal information and use it for conspiracies... Although, the official answer by Check Point is here, which just says that 50 people reported malware. Either way, it sounds like malicious information collection, not spyware. EDIT: I am able to bypass the block, but I'll just sit this video out anyway just to be safe. Back on topic now...

... Perhaps you should put the video on a website that is NOT reported for spyware? My firewall blocked box.net immediately as a spy site.

If you could get to the level select without codes, you could just go straight to the final Bowser level and beat the game without keys at all! What fun would that be? (unless the final Bowser level is not found in the level select...) Either way, going through the level select, even without a code, would look like cheating, ruining any reaction one might have if you find out how to glitch through the key doors instead (if possible).

reason i was asking is because you might beable to get enough speed to get to the underwater door without the game realising you are underwwater meaning you would open it, and skip first bowser
~10-20 pages back in this thread, somebody (was it AKA?) tried that already. They BLJ'd off the top of the castle and headed toward the water. As soon as Mario hit the water plane, Mario's velocity went straight to zero. Since the water in SM64 (as far as we know) is nothing like Super Mario Sunshine's water (where you can walk under water if you enter it at certain locations), so unless something miraculous happens when z0MG tries it probably won't work. Also, the loading point triggered by opening the door will probably not happen since the door is underwater.

If you're going to ask for a new run between the 0 and 120 star runs, a 70 star run w/o using BLJ fits the mold perfectly.
Maybe people would be more excited about a 70 star run if the proposed restriction was no BLJ in the castle, but you are free to BLJ in the levels all that you want. Or maybe make it simpler and say that you can't do a BLJ past any doors that have a star requirement or BLJ up the endless staircase. actually, that would be harder to define... That may make it obvious that you could do a BLJ through those doors if you do other BLJ's in the levels, but I would think that several levels would become dull if you can't BLJ in them at all. Jolly Roger Bay comes to mind in this case... swimming across the bay would not be as fun as seeing Mario do a BLJ off the cannon, flying over half of the bay.

Cut scenes are played before every level (except for one). Resetting would not help because, if I understand the game correctly, each cut scene can be skipped when you complete each level, but not all of them at once.

Make a copy of your ROM and download the patch. Then use Lunar IPS ( http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/lips100.zip ) to apply the patch to the ROM. Lunar IPS is pretty straight forward since it is a GUI program, so you should be able to figure the rest out.

Well, I got it to work under VBA 19.3. Try playing it there. If the first mini game (shave) does not work, then you will have to patch the ROM with this: http://bubbz.pocketheaven.com/?system=gba&section=patch_info&patch_id=1231 That patch makes the game use the D-pad for the tilting instead of a tilt sensor. Without the patch, the D-pad is completely ignored since the tilt sensor is used for all navigation. I will watch this later and give a response to it then. EDIT: Hmm... I have a few questions. 1. Did you purposely lose in the two "don't trip" mini games where the lady had to jump over the rocks? And did you also purposely lose in that one avoid mini game in Wario Man where he was avoiding asteroids or whatever was shooting at Earth? If you didn't actually lose, I must have desynched a frame or something, which is strange since all the other mini-games finished properly. 2. Is there any way to skip those cut scenes? They take so long that entertainment value is lost. Other than those two complaints, I think this was a decent run. I liked the times when you were doing crazy things and you ended up just making it. I was also amused when you completed some of the mini-games before the screen transition finished. That final boss for Wario Man was... special. It's funny that the programmers allowed erratic movements in that last game as long as you were in the correct position at the proper time. However, I would have expected something much harder like in the WarioWare, Inc. game where it was very easy to lose just because you never knew what was coming next until you got far enough to see what it was... and then lose if you didn't have the reflexes. I'm not sure if it is proper for a TAS to have those credits shown, but I suppose it is the equivalent of a "the end" to the game anyway. I vote yes for doing beyond what the actual console could do, especially in terms of spinning.

Wow... definitly looks promising. Obviously lining up that triple jump could be done much better, but it sure seems that Mario travels much less distance that way. Now to wait for the SM64 masters to test this out... Yay for a possible improvement after the last few months of inactivity!

The rom's name indicated by the movie file seems to suggest that this movie was created using somebody's homebrew dump instead of an "official" one since it advertises a website instead of giving the game's name. --argh, should have submitted this post earlier Yes vote. I especially liked the time in 7-4 (and C-4 or whatever was its exact duplicate) when Mario enters the floor and just before exiting it Mario destroys one "block" of the ground by jumping. Edit: arflech, if you read the submission text closer, you would have noticed: "I choose the +Super Mario World rom because the last author used it and it was a few frames faster in the intro."

You may put a link to the patch for the ROM, but you cannot provide links to the ROMs themselves. If Nintendo or some other big brother found that we allowed free download links of copyrighted games to be on our site (which we do not allow, as stated on the home page), they may try to shut us down since that is illegal. Distributing patches is much safer than distributing patched ROMs since the latter has legal issues in the United States and Europe, even if China may be excluded.

Bisqwit, the founder of this site, is working on an output only TAS for Chrono Cross (PSX). As DeHackEd said, since the video can be manipulated and therefore unverifiable, Bisqwit will not officially submit it to TASVideos. Think of his project as an unprecedented TAS of a system that does not have verifiable TAS capabilities yet. Bisqwit patched pSX so it allows frame advance (but no slowdown, other than CPU lag) and hooked in a modified x264 video encoder to control his video outputs. You can see full details, progress, and a link to the related thread about this output-only TAS at http://tasvideos.org/Bisqwit/Projects/ChronoCross.html This project is somewhat similar to Bisqwit's TAS of PC Star Control II, although he was able to modify DosBox for limited input rerecording capabilities then. It was not accepted due to entertainment issues, but it was another unprecedented event in the TASing community. Somebody else on this forum was working on a patch for pSX that would support verifiable rerecording capabilities (i.e. input recording and replaying), but they ran into a major error that seemingly cannot be resolved without the source code. Until pSX releases source code for the emulator or the developers are convinced that they should make rerecording capabilities themselves, no PlayStation games can be officially submitted to TASVideos. [Edit by Bisqwit: Added link to the related thread]

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but after watching that video about the wiimote and sensor bar... "A cap and sensor bar looks kinda goofy, i'll wear these massive red glasses with mounted LED's attached." ?
Those LEDs are infrared LEDs. That is all the sensor bar really is: two infrared LEDs spaced a fixed distance from each other. Putting two LEDs on his glasses at a fixed distance makes more sense because it looks more natural and feels more comforable than having a big grey rectangular prism strapped to his head. The wii remote sees both of these LEDs and tracks them. The computer program uses the data from the wiimote to determine how to change your view of the screen.

I`m running Vista (yes, I know it sucks) and this doesn`t work for me. I double-click the iv_ship application and nothing happens. What should I do to make this work?
Use command prompt to launch the program with the command line:
iv_ship.exe <path to FCM> [num]
where [num] is an optional parameter that displays only that number of ships, since a game may only have two players instead of 4. I didn't figure this out at first until I read LagDotCom's post closer when he said syntax. Note that each ship is a different player and only one movie can be loaded, which makes one player FCMs pointless to demonstrate in this program at the moment. A simpler way to execute this program is to make a batch file (.bat) that has a completed command with the above format in it (in plain text, i.e. notepad) saved to the same folder that iv_ship is in so you don't have to launch command prompt every time. Just edit the .bat file in notepad when you want to change what movie to run. Note that the path must have quotation marks on either side if there are any spaces in the path. I assume that a file menu will be implemented later when this program improves, but command line parameters are the first step, I guess.

Datadynes Pack is supposed to make it look like Paper Mario. I did search the forums, yet I don't seem to find this particular pack. :( Since you posted the screenshot, would you mind uploading the pack? I'd really appreciate it.
You can find this texture pack and all others for the N64 at the thread http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=42231

You need to check the controller plug in settings because it seems that it is configured to not have any virtual controllers active. Go to Options>Input Settings to see what is currently set up and see if you can fix it yourself. I would suggest doing a simpler game than Paper Mario though. Not only would the route and inventory planning be difficult, but the game also experiences major flickering issues with most video plugins at the moment. It seems that the Rice video plugin does the best, but you will need a fast computer to use it.

You're incredibly lucky then. It seems everyone else, including my roommate, has lag issues.
Maybe the people that you are playing against have bad internet connections. If these people you are playing against are friends, you can see what quality of internet connection they seemed to have the last time you played with them by looking at the color of rectangle that holds their names. If you are playing against random people, one bad connection could ruin everybody's gaming experience since the game intimates that everybody's game will pause if somebody lags.
