Yeah I tried that also. But then I noticed that it still took just as many slashes to defeat them. So I started testing out to see exactly what is required to defeat them, and it turns out that you only have to slash one of them 8 times in order to defeat them both. The reason why I know this is when I tried alternating hitting both of them it took 15 slashes.

I haven't looked over your route for Season's yet, but I have know doubt that it's very good, judging by the quality of your run on SDA. I got your route downloaded and I shall take a look after I pass dungeon 2. I guess you took into account everywhere that crossing holes would save time. I might be done the first dungeon by tomorrow and I'll post a WIP. I had to test several ways to beat the miniboss. I wasn't sure if using a bomb would save time. One bomb equals 2 slashes, however not only do you need to time it so the bomb damages them right after their invincibility is up from a slash, but it takes 20 frames to pick up and throw a bomb. I believe with perfect timing and enemy manipulation, the bomb would be several frames faster, but I tried and couldn't get it as fast as when I just used the sword.

As I thought, it seems to be no way to lift any of the rocks while on the holes. The lift animation lasts for just 1 frame and then the holes starts pulling him in. E_alert's explanation about not being able to cross over into the other screen seems to apply to lifting items also. Even if it is possible to lift them, I doubt there's a way to keep from falling, since even throwing objects causes Link to fall.

I justed tested it and there's no way to get to the next screen on the holes. Link just hovers indefinately. Also I think you misread my last post, but I said that you can't (cannot) glitch past the whirlpools. Take your time researching Seasons. It'll be a while before I get to the 3rd dungeon.

Vespa tested it, and it turns out you can't glitch past the whirlpools when swimming or on the raft. As far as jumping, you can't jump when you're already on the holes, however you could jump on the holes and glitch past. Where exactly is the room where the holes goes over to the next screen? As far as the route for Seasons, any timesaver you could think of will help. Pegusus seed management, and bomb route are a couple of things that concern me.

Oh yeah, do you have a savestate where you could get to the whirlpools on Ages, so I could test it? Or have you figured out how to do the glitch already?

I was able to manipulate another 5 rupees from the bats while on the cart, now I have the 10 I need. I give you full credit for giving me that idea. So far I manipulated 5 different enemy set ups at the part with the key, and all of them the bats got in the way at certain point. If it turns out there are none that I can find where they don't get in the way I may have to choose the one that loses the least time.

Hopefully you didn't get too far in your revised run because I discovered a few more aspects of the teleport glitch. Or perhaps you also discovered them yourself and already incorporated them in your run already. But just in case, here's a demo up to the castle door. If you didn't damage boost just add 7 frames and you'll know how fast you should make it to the castle. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2678/up_to_castle_door.smv

Ha ha! I was able to manipulate 5 from one of the bats without losing any frames thanks to you.

I have to double post due to the limited memory of my PSP. As far as that trick working with the 3 holes, as long as Link could fall in the bottom left hole then there's a way to make it across. Try walking out a little bit over the holes until it starts pulling you in, then savestate. See which hole he falls in, reload state, test to see how many times you have to press the other direction to fall in other hole. Not one frame more.

I had to delay frames before killing it in order to get the rupees otherwise it would've dropped a heart. Somehow I have a feeling that I may have to delay frames before lifting the stones also. I'll go ahead and skip getting the 5 from the skeleton and see how everything else works out. I'll see if I can get any from the bats while riding the cart.

Hey Tompa, I managed to manipulate 5 rupees from one of the skeletons, but I had to sacrifice 15 frames to do it. Do you know of any better way to get the 10 I need?

At frame 54 press left 4 times and then start alternating right and left.

Post a demo of your attempt and I'll tell you what you're doing wrong.

You have to be almost exactly in the middle for it to work. Note there is no exact middle because you can get so that one pixel either way determines which hole you fall in. When you get it to that point then start alternating back and forth until you make it across.

I don't think you could lift things when your already over a hole but I just tested it and Link can walk over holes while carry items. However you cant throw it until you get passed the holes. Otherwise he'll fall in. Yeah your route for level 3 seems easy to understand. I'll let you know if I have any questions.

O well, I guess I'll get it from the chest then. So far I was able to walk over every hole I tried it as long as there is 2 holes side by side. You have to be close enough to the middle where you have enough time to choose which hole you could fall in. If you can't choose which hole you could fall in then it won't work.

For the most part, it seems that trick doesn't work on LA, but for some reason, there's a way to walk over the holes located 2 screens before you reach the Tail Cave. As far as Seasons, I can't help but wonder if there is any potential bomb drops before getting to the part where you have to bomb the wall. That would beat having to waste several seconds getting them from the chest. I've been testing item drops on my way there and all the enemies seem to drop only rupees and hearts.

Goodness, I thought this game was already pushed to the limits, and you managed to improve it by 18 seconds. How can I vote anything but yes?

Here's a demonstration. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2603/hole_glitch.vbm It's probably impossible to do this in real time.

There's a couple of things I discovered about Seasons. First and probably most importantly, it seems that enemy positions and behavior is determined 3 screens prior. So far I successfully manipulated ideal enemy behavior in 2 rooms by hex editing 3 rooms prior. So hopefully it's the same way through the whole game. Second, I discovered a way to walk over pits. So far I'm 970 frames ahead of Vespa's WIP up to the sword, so I'm continuing on with what I have.

Hmm, I didn't realize it but it seems the only rupee drops that doesn't waste time after desert palace are the 2 blue rupees Flag got in the castle. You may be better off grabbing the extra pot before the power glove. And stabbing an extra plant before the part where you use the lamp. Since I don't have the boomerang, I got to figure out how I'm going to get an extra 5.

Click on your link and change the number to 2545. Note I didn't start the test until frame 201.

I just tested it at the same doorway on your link, and it saved 11 frames there. I know for certain it saved 15 frames on another doorway I tested it.
