Oh, I only watched up to Zelda. I killed the rat in the same room that you damage boosted. It was right in my path so the only time wasted was with the slash and boomerang throw. I'm going to go ahead and try that boomerang trick. Does it matter just killing the rat that you did? Can't I just kill them both for more rupees? Or is it a waste of time?

Very nice! But I'm going to keep what I got so far since I have so much work ahead of me in this game. Right now I'm in the sewers. One quick question. I manipulated a blue rupee from one of the rats. But it took 13 frames to slash and 13 to grab with my boomerang. Do you know of any more efficient way to collect rupees or is what I did ok?

Whoa, I just checked Flag's run, and it took 1300 frames per item. It's tough to say which would be faster. I'm going to sleep on it for now. When I get up, I'm going to comb through Flag's run and see the spots where the boomerang saves time. Then I'll test to see how long it takes to get the red boomerang in the Village of Outcasts. Edit: Just tested it and it takes almost as much time to go a little bit out of the way to get it than to just get it from the fat fairy. So I'm getting the blue one.

Ok, I just made it Zelda, and I didnt get the boomerang. But something has just occured to me. Isn't it true that you can get the red boomerang from the fat fairy? If so, then I might be better off getting the boomerang from the beginning since I have to get the golden sword and silver arrows anyway. I'll wait for your input before I continue.

I decided to take my chances and start this thing. If anything, I'll have a great movie I could watch over and over again if it get's rejected for not meeting the judges requirements for 100%. Plus, others will enjoy it. It seems the majority are against getting the bomb and arrow upgrades, so I'm not going to get them. Right now I'm at the boomerang part. How does being able to call the bird effect whether or not I should get the boomerang? I don't see the relationship.

Well, 2 to 1 so far for not getting them. I'm going to have to wait for more responses before I start this thing. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah he still works on it when he get's the chance to. School is taking up most of his time now.

Hmm, well for starters, what do you suggest to collect? I'm leaning toward not getting the bomb or arrow upgrades. And not maxing out rupies. Someone posted on this forum about having to collect from all treasure chests. But I don't see any reason to. However I don't want to put all this work into this just to have it rejected just because it doesn't meet the judges requirements for 100%.

Well I didn't take your post that way. I actually understood your reasoning about trying different things on your own. Alright then. I will be beginning the 100% run.

I finally made it up to Zelda. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1826/up_to_Zelda.smv Thanks Omni. Now to see what I missed by watching what Flag does. Edit: Ha Ha very impressive. I never would've thought of that. Maybe Flag should be the one that does an improved run.

Actually I gained it outside the castle, probably from slashing the last bush as opposed to charging the sword. I'm going to need more than just creativity to perfect this run. I'm going to need to be aware of all the tricks people know of. Doing a run by myself without getting tips is a sure way of missing something.

I'm curious, what was it that you missed? Your WIP is so hard to match. It's taking me longer than I thought but I should get to Zelda by tomorrow. So far I'm only 1 frame ahead of you.

Actually I'm working on an improvement over Flag's run now, Tompa. Erokky, I'll post a WIP once I get to Zelda which should be in a few hours to a day.

I'm going to start a 100% run. My criteria is collecting all the heart pieces, collecting everything that fills the inventory, getting all the equipment upgrades with the exception of the blue mail and the red shield. I'm still contemplating whether or not to get the extra bombs and arrows . Any suggestions?

It would've wasted a considerable amount of frames using Quint's weapon. Not to mention having to go into the menu screen. In order to use it effectively without taking damage you have to bounce off Wily once and then go back to the ground. So as it turns out, the length between hits is 70 frames. With the buster I could hit him every 30 frames. Hey Bag I saw your WIP on Mega Man 3. I wanted to see Dustman's level get torn apart but for some reason your movie ends in Snake Man's level.

Wow! This run exploits even more glitches than the published run! Great job! A definite yes vote! I noticed you missed a shot against Metal Man. Was that intentional?

Here's an update. This will be the last wip I post. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1741/Megaman2_Update.vbm I cleared Hardman's and Topman's level. Now on to Needleman's and then Wily's stage and I will be done.

Very good. Your wip has been very entertaining. I can't think of any reason for it not to be published.

I was going to attempt an improvement over Flag's run after I finished with Megaman 2 for gameboy. But since Erokky beat me to it, I'm thinking of doing a 100% run instead. Anyway, good luck with the rest of your run. So far your wip looks well optimized.

That's one possibilility, and would definately be faster than using the buster. However it still requires me to go into the menu screen. It's better to go there at the beginning of the level and equip the metal blade in order to save 15 frames from killing a couple of the flying magnets.
