I did use the wall. I don't know why, but I thought that jumping over him without taking damage was not possible while he flaps his wings which left me little time with the wall. So I figured delaying frames before going on the lift was the only other option. I'm glad you improved the battle by so much. Anyway, is there anything I should look out for in the next level?

I was able to save 59 frames on the Storm Eagle battle. I got him to stay on the ground the whole time. Instead of acting like a mad man throughout the whole run, I was going to conserve doing funny things so it doesn't get old too fast to the viewer.

Yeah, even with all that lag it's still faster by a wide margin to get it from the left. edit: Beat Storm Eagle's stage. I think the level itself is pretty optimized but I'm not certain with the boss battle. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/167847583/mmx100tas.smv

Hey Fractal, is there a certain reason why you broke the glass with a fully charged shot in your test run? I noticed Frezy also did it in his speedrun. I shot it with just a regular shot and didn't notice any difference. I'm close to Storm Eagle and want to be absolutely sure it's not better to do it that way before I move on.

How is your progress?

I did keep an eye on the value of the furthest position X can be away from the ledge and still be possible to hop off of it. I got to the point where I was two frames away from that position. X would fall in the pit and the boomerang holding the heart would come closing in.

I don't think Ogreslayer's statement of being one frame from getting the heart was an exageration. I managed to come two frames from getting it. Anyway I concede that it's impossible and doing Storm Eagle next.

I've only used memory watch for X's x and y position. My re~record count is high due to my little knowledge of the game mechanics. The rate should get lower as the game progresses. But you seem to constantly surprise me with tricks I never would've thought of. Anyway, I shot Boomer Kuwanger 1 frame later after reading what you said in the other thread about possible lag from the boss explosions. Now I'm 27 frames faster. I've got to see if I could grab that heart tank in Sting Chameleon's level.

Me and my brother were laughing our heads off at the glitches you performed in this level. What a treat. Have you already determined a rupee route for the dark world?

Castle looked optimal. Keep up the great work. I was wondering if you solved your bomb problem? I looked through Flag's run and I can't understand how it's possible to not take his route where he gets the 8 bombs in Dark Palace. Don't you need to go that way in order to get the hammer? Or perhaps you're talking about something totally different.

It turns out the glitch is slower by almost 50 frames. To bad. It's a neat discovery however and how you were able to figure this trick out is beyond me.

Since you're already this far into the run, I wouldn't restart. This leaves the option of using this trick from now on or not. I'm leaning towards not using it at all. Doing this will keep your run looking consistent. Also it wouldn't be as entertaining watching the parts where Link is invisible.

I couldn't perform parrotgreen's trick. I guess you need to have the ability to form the iceblock because X just stays lodged in the wall otherwise.

Looks great so far. I'm eager to see how you handle the castle. That's always been one of my favorite part's to watch in Flag's run. Did you happen to figure out where you're going to get the rest of the rupees. I'm assuming you tried getting one in the Moon Pearl room and it wasted too much time.

Are you sure you tested this thoroughly? I specifically remember saving time doing it before getting the dash.

Many thanks. I shall keep your improved battle. Hey, would you mind doing the battles with hadoken and you could be co-author of this tas. The reason being there is no published run that I can compare those particular battles with, and you would do a better job than me.

Here's an update. http://www.savefile.com/files/1863579 I ran into some extreme bad luck in the Chill Penguin fight. He just wouldn't behave the way I wanted him to. If anyone thinks they know a quicker way to defeat him, let me know. Otherwise I'm going to continue on.

Ah, so it's the number of visits that are counted. I always thought it was deaths. Anyway, I shall put that info to use. Especially the address.

Ok, now that I know there is no problem when it comes to lives, do you know exactly how far I have to be for the death to count? This should help if I could manage to get killed by one of the birds.

I thought I did. IIrc, one frame later and the boost didn't work. Also Fractal posted somewhere that you can gain 3 frames at that part and thats how much I gained. As for where I took my damage, I decided to do it differently than the any%. I doubt that my loss of frames comes from that though. Edit: Does anyone happen to know the conditions that must be met in order to drop an extra life?

About the rupees, I determined that you only need to worry about acquiring 2 blues without a loss of too many frames. One of them you can get by stabbing one of the plants in the room where you got the red rupee. You have to manipulate so that the plant goes in your path. You may be able to get one in Mountain Tower without wasting many frames. In the room with the Moon Pearl try throwing the first pot you have to lift at one of the crawling enemies.

Thanks Dehacked. http://65.93.101.29/microstorage.php/info/1856189370/mmx100.smv And I'm going to have to rewatch those parts to see what you're talking about and get back to you, Comicalflop.

Did you happen to save those 8 frames in the room with the key under the pot?

I think Fractal got that part extremely tight. I wasn't able to match it.
