That's different. The TAS record for Donkey Kong is 1:08.67, which is slower than the SDA record of 1:05. A timing difference is one thing, but sub-optimal gameplay is entirely different. The latter can be remedied.

Strike Man in 1:15.93 Link to video Also, since this not the first play-through, this run will skip cutscenes. An 8 second cutscene was skipped before this level started, and a 40 second cutscene will be skipped before the Wily Stages.

http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=4270 Looks like all the blockers for Dolphin v3.0 have finally been resolved. Hopefully we'll see the stable release soon.

Try checking "render to main window" in the Display configuration tab.

That makes perfect sense, especially since my attempts to mute the sound through Hourglass were in vain. Sadly, since I'm no coder, I'll have to anxiously await the updates. Fantastic work thus far.

Hmm, make that less than 2 seconds for 1-2 by simply going up the left side.

Super Meat Boy runs in hourglass. But the USB controller inputs aren't recorded, and it wont accept keyboard inputs through Hourglass. Also save states crash and it can't be run with multi-threads disabled. Here's a test run of the first two levels, frame advancing only. I couldn't get the sound to dump at all. Link to video

I got Super Meat Boy to run with Hourglass. But I can't get it to record my inputs. I'm using a USB controller and it seems Hourglass doesn't record that. I can play the game normally with keyboard inputs, but when I try to use the keyboard while running Super Meat Boy in Hourglass, the game doesn't accept the keyboard inputs. I put up an unlisted test video on Youtube. I don't want to spoil to the world the surprise this game is TASable until we have something more to display. For now, I just TAS'd the first two levels. I can't get the audio to dump, and save states crash the game. I'm sure it's because of the multi-threads (can't run with this disabled). I only used frame advance, but the later levels will need save states to be efficient. Still, frame advancing brought the times to attractive low numbers. 1-1: .88 1-2: 2.68 I dumped this as I played, so there is no input file. Link to video

Yeah, I used the vibrate method as well. I also remember a game in Mario Party that required spinning the N64 joystick in complete circles. The fastest to do that was to put the top of the joystick in the middle of your palm, and rotate it around. It was easy to spot Mario Party players by the blisters in the palms as a result. ><

How would you transfer that input to the game? I used xPadder to bind the mouse click to my turbo controller. Then I used shift-tab to highlight the start button with my mouse still on the clicker. Finally, I held the enter key to start the game and combine the enter key inputs with the turbo mouse clicks.

I can barely break 100 on my best attempt with this laptop. But since this is TASvideos.org, what's the best TAS (tool-assisted score) you can achieve? :D 399 was mentioned, but I took a crack at this with some clever manipulation, and got up to 458! I know you can just easily type a number in that field, so to belay the naysayers, here's a screen recording of the feat: Link to video Can anyone do better?

Rerecord much? I'm guessing a bot was used, as with the other Wizardy publications. Awaiting encode.

According to HappyLee's submission notes, 2 frames from the currently known optimized route (which he didn't use).

Any update for the month of May? Judging by the view and post counts of the rest of the TAS's in those lists, I'd say my TAS should take the top spot for that month at nearly 200k views/10k comments. :D http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14558442

That is amazing! Lots of neat tricks in there and the rapid firing of blades and spikes sounds awesome. I'm guessing the Triple Blade glitch doesn't work on him, huh? Any plans to do the other two? Here's Nitro Man in 1:28.88 Link to video

When you start recording (by going to Emulation->Start Recording), a few values are automatically added to the footer of the emulation window. These values are "VI", which is the current frame number, and "Frame", which is the total number of polled inputs. The number you're looking for is the VI.

Fantastic! Thanks! 1828 rerecords for those 3 levels. I'm guessing the actual number of rerecords for the run with Mega Man will be about twice the final number of Bass. I used more rerecords since it was my first time through, the levels were longer (frame-wise), and I spent a lot more time optimizing entertainment (manipulating drops and being generally more innovative). With Bass, I'm simply trying to beat the game as fast as possible. If an enemy is in my way, he dies... if not, I don't spend extra time trying to see if I can kill him without wasting time.

Yea, I don't do anything funky with the doors so its still 4 frames per piece. A fast-forward or GOTO frame would be amazing, but I don't think its implemented yet. Whenever I check for desyncs, I've been running through the game from the beginning to get to my current location. This becomes a pain in the ass in the later levels. Here's Chill Man in 1:06.55 (MM 1:30.1) Link to video Also, here's the .dtm file. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CRTK0RGS sgrunt, could you teach me how to see the rerecord count? I don't know what program to open it with to see and I don't know programming talk like signed/unsigned bytes or integers.

Only question I want to know for know is: WHO DARES TO TAS THIS GAME!? I do not have a controller or experience with 3d games so count me out :( Anyway, I am very thrilled that little discussion is taking place about this game but again, who dares/will tas it?..
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Kinda just waiting for someone to pick up the ball. I tried TASing a few first person shooters in the Dolphin (TimeSplitters 2 and CoD Black Ops), but I can't for the life of me figure out how to aim properly one frame at a time. I even tried using the mouse as the WiiMote instead of using a joystick. With that, it's possible to just point where you want to shoot with the mouse, but it seems to always be off slightly.

I would definitely be interested in watching these. I just wont be TASing them myself because they aren't part of the full game. I noticed you're already almost a full second ahead of Rockmanda. Nice! That's cool that the glob slide works for you, and if the triple blade glitch can be used on the boss as well you'll save even more time. Upload the levels when you're finished and we'll have this whole game done with Mega Man... at least until someone wants to get 9999 screens on endless o.O

Found something interesting. Might it look something like this? (Mega Man 2 w/quick switching) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvW8Lx6JXVc

Yeah, Bass will take damage several times due to hard mode adding more enemies. But mostly because of the fact that I can tank past them by fusing with Treble slightly before the hit, take the hit, and then switch out of Treble form a frame later to continue on at regular speed (no-pushback with Treble form). But unfortunately he has no coil powers. He only has Treble which is incredibly slow for getting around efficiently. The ladder problem will be resolved after I get the wheel cutter in the 4th stage. I toyed around with the idea of a Nitro Man start to get the wheel cutter right away, but there's too many problems with that route to be effective.
