WunUnknownPlayer in the SDA forums discovered an additional death warp that saves time. It improved my speedrun by quite a bit, and it will save time in the TAS. So now I have to redo the TAS once again to make use of it. The new route rescues Grey Fox instead of Twin Shot's prisoner, which in itself is only a little bit slower. But because it causes rank 3 in floor 2, a death warp there ends up saving time. Edit: It ended up saving 1429 frames. So now the WIP is 1767 frames ahead of the published run. Here is the new WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1780811913/Metal%20Gear%20%28U%29.fm2 And here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpSol81D0Do

Apparently, the email notifications for this thread stopped working for me. I came back from SGDQ to see the run in the workbench. I didn't realize there were posts in this thread until the run was cancelled. I will make sure I don't miss any posts so I can help out. I would like to take a look at how to manipulate the bosses better. The actions the bosses choose seems to change less frequently than stardust, but I hope there is a pattern to it. Good job, Hotarubi, with those improvements. I take it that means that our run is now improvable. I will have to start thinking about possible improvements to the simulations so we can improve our run in the future after we are done with our other TASes.

Wow this skips the hall of fame room. So does that mean that Ash's room IS the hall of fame? Anyways, yes vote.

Well now that there is an encode and I can watch it, I can give this a yes vote. Good job!

You are welcome. Figuring out how games work is indeed quite interesting, but it is also hard work. But it leads to awesome runs both for TASes and human played speedruns.

Thanks for posting the links to the videos. It will be fun to watch the races I participated in to see how close the race was. These races are really fun, and I hope more people join. We currently organize the race on #tasvideos on server irc.freenode.net before heading over to #speedrunslive on server irc.speeddemosarchive.com to do the race. We have been doing the races in the late evening for the US.

I guess after defeating the Warlock, the hero can open a glasses shop with the ability to make an infinite amount of glasses. Yes vote.

Very nice. I wonder if delaying the final damage to the boss of Bloodpool Act 2 by a frame or more could change the RNG for Cassandra Act 1 resulting in better luck with the flame enemies. In fact, even delaying before the boss battle could work too as long as the battle's RNG is not affected.

Very good so far. I really liked the Casandra Act 2 boss fight. It will be interesting to see how the bosses are handled without Stardust. The only suggestion about the wait time before Bloodpool Act 1 (it sucks that the wait time is so long) is to use the extra time to play around with the enemies avoiding damage instead of killing them. I assume there wasn't enough time to kill the other enemy. But it is okay the way it currently is; messing with it may affect the RNG for Casandra.

6.8 year (approx.) bump, which might be better than a 7 year itch. :P I have been working on improving the published run, and I have a WIP up to death warp #1, which is a little bit more than half the game completed. It is currently 336 frames faster than the published run, mostly due to a discovery that makes Solid Snake not pause for a frame every time he changes direction. Here is a encode of the WIP: Link to video Edit: Here is the WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1949198565/Metal%20Gear%20%28U%29.fm2

The piano would have been awesome if real songs were played and they fit within the required notes. Abstaining for now.

I agree, but it needs to use the Japanese version, which is more difficult and bit different.

It must be a special occasion for TASVideos Grue in order for it to break out the really tasty submissions that it had been saving. PARTY at the TASVideos Grue's cave!

Good job improving the super optimized run by 3 frames! So what if it is a small improvement or that it is not noticeable. That should never a reason to reject. I didn't care for most of the camera angles in the run. I guess I prefer to see what Mario is doing. Near the end of BitS, I liked the camera angle going up the double spinning elevators because it was clear that Mario jumped on the post. But I don't think it was the camera angles were that bad overall, and I agree that we should experiment with different camera angles to make the run more entertaining. A weak yes vote from me.

I vote Hamburger. That is a horrible game, and I don't know what to make of the picture of Foreman holding a hamburger. If this were to be published, that would be the screenshot.

I vote "on" because the people will on longer need our help. Let's take one last look at each of the thriving towns we helped developed.

"Our radar camera clocked you doing 211. We must pay YOU a fine of $6549300." Only in Soviet Russia SNES Lamborghini - American Challenge. Congrats on the improvement. It is now much more entertaining.
