Suggestion thread. The 14% run has been suggested. I don't think arguing over it here is the best use of this thread. Tails in Sonic 1- "too similar" seems off to me. Crystalis no warping-code- follows the actual game sequence(well, more) instead of level-selecting. Zelda Outlands for reasons listed by others.

I don't like much predefined achievements for some reason- maybe I prefer setting my own crazy goals when I feel like it. I'll bend "classic" a little to include 3rd-gen I feel like, since my mind's just rolling with it. Mega Man 2: Trusty Buster: Defeat all bosses (save last, impossible) with Mega Buster only. Quick Enough: Beat Quick Man's level without getting hit from lightbeam, nor using Flash Stopper. Tanked: Get more energy tanks than you can hold. Super Tanked: Get all energy tanks. Any series sequel game: Old Dog: Do not use moves introduced in this game except where absolutely necessary to advance. (Sliding under 1-gap block in a later Megaman, for instance, but only then) Really Old Dog: ...introduced in games other than first SMB2USA: GeoMod: Manage to throw Mushroom Block such that it disrupts existing scenery. SMB2j: Tastes Fine to Me:Eat all poison mushrooms in game. Tastes Great to Me: ...without dying from any of them. SMB3: ...You're Not Lakitu: Be intercepted on map while clouded (by hammer bro, piranha, tanks...) Cheapskate: Attack a ToadMushroom Retainer in a ToadMushroom Retainer House. Dress In Layers: Attempt to get in a GoombaShoe while already in another. Lost Vikings: Nyuk Nyuk: Have Erik damage the other two, as with Baleog, and complete level. (Perhaps on a per-world basis, else too easy). Zelda: A Link to the Past Make A Wish: Defeat Agahnim with the Bug Net alone. Zelda: Ocarina of Time Natural Time Traveller: After opening the Door of Time, as a child, allow 2555 days(7 years) to pass, by Sun's Song or otherwise. Ganon Lies: Then, visit Hyrule Castle. Lies! All lies!: Visit all maps as child after completing all adult dungeons (and having passed that much time). Mario Kart (Any) High-Powered Engine:Use only Mushrooms and their like (triples, golds). For more pun-flavored fun, throw in Feathers. Zombies Ate My Neighbors Super Soaker: Defeat enemies with no weapons other than your squirt guns. (Not sure if this is possible, it would be rather difficult anyway.) Metroid series (where applicable) Ma'am? You forgot your suit. Ma'am? Ma'am..?Complete game without picking up Varia suit. Fusion: Shinesparker Deluxe: Escape lower AQA with shinespark after L4 unlock to reach briefing room sans Diffusion missile for easter egg. (This one drives me nuts, since I've gotten through the last needed door with charge twice) Shinesparker Ultra: Defeat the x-blocker with a shinespark to skip Bob the unskippable missile tank, enabling... Peaceful Research Facility: Pick up none of those energy, missile or power bomb tanks, earning 0% item completion. CastleVania series: Legendary Whip: Do not use sub-weapons. Complete Game. Perhaps enable subweapon from start for following: Complete Game... Legendary Whip?: ...without using whip. Thirsty Work: ...using only Holy Water. I'm a Lumberjack and That's OK: Using only Axes. Ripper: ...only Knives Holy Man: ...only Crosses Ghouls'n'Ghosts: Defeat Game... Devisut by Satan: "once" (fake end) Congraturation:"twice" (real ending) Courageour Knight: twice really, in a row. Strongth Welling: thrice " " " Challenge Again: Four times. Donkey Kong Country: Use only Donkey Kong. Avoid breaking Partner Barrels. DKC2: Diddy Kong Country: As above, but Diddy in DKC2 DKC3: Dixie Kong Country: As above, but Dixie in DKC3 Final Fantasy Series Fluff v. Crunch: Attempt to use reviving item/spell (Fenix Down/Life, Soft/GoldNeedle when applicable) where seemingly applicable to plot-dead characters (Palom/Porom, Tellah, Gen. Leo, Rachel, Aerith, Red XIII's father, for 4,6, 7, I'm sure many others are there) Other games may also have this achievement. Blast Corps: Got a Mean Kick: Destroy a building segment with the J-bomb from the side using its attack. Driver Side Demolition: Destroy a building segment using the exit-vehicle command. Poor Accounting: Complete a mission with something still in the nuclear carrier's path. (TNT boxes and vehicles, for instance.) Anger Management: Shoot the nuclear carrier with a missile. Unknown Man: Stand in front of the nuclear carrier and do not move. Budget Cuts: Complete a (demolition) mission using either of the ammo-requiring vehicles without using ammunition. Wario Land series: Ascetic: Complete game with no coins or treasures. Illusion of Gaia: Band Camp: Beat bosses up through Pyramid using only Will and his flute.

And what happens to the new item you picked up? It's tricked into being what you had before?

Still interested in run, it's been a while since update (I'm not used to following TAS WIPs, so I may have erroneous standards on this). Things going well/okay/hung up/indefinitely delayed/stopped?

Vol/Melio Culter(knives) can be fun to play with, actually. (Vol Culter is too hard to get before Melio, and comes far too late anyway, but that's another matter.) It's also useful for getting a quick kill from doorway so you can cycle the room of a killer fish/whate'er drops Merman Meat. Similarly, Vol Arcus is good on some bosses and enemies, and Melio Arcus is good when you get two Archer rings- since they increase the tracking rate as well as the damage, so it will even shoot behind you and will only rarely miss (Fleamen, ugh) Cubus makes the Swamp a cakewalk, since most of the enemies get stoned. That said, Torpor does suck. About all it's useful for is pulling off safer hits on the crab boss on the first playthrough. edit: Gem quests may be useful for offense, and the wall-break instances of the gems are mostly on the way if chests are a problem (onyx and diamond are a bit late though)

Most of my dreams possess visual verisimilitude- if you could take a freezeframe, it would just look like a photograph, usually. Some other times instead it takes the form of videogamelike sprites, and sometimes exaggerated animé-like drawing, but these are the exception. The photorealism stands in contrast to the usual content of the dreams, where the laws of physics tend to be bent in roughly the Superpower way, like flight (everyone tends to have those dreams, I know)- but I've had dreams where time travel was involved (hooray for stable timeloops), or dying and then 'loading' to retry...

This rule have some exceptions, and I believe unlocking the "real" MK mode should be one of them =p

Sleeve-use to cancel cooldown, jeeze. Also, Light/dark may not be too good for TAS than either light/weapon or dark/weapon since you get that long animation. As for Albus warping, remember that warping after changing rooms is twice as good as elsewhere when travelling horizontally (full screenwidth, edge to edge, instead of center to edge). As for grinding: Inferno plain attacks on Jiang Shi. Each kill counts for skill and experience, no exit/re-enter necessary to respawn, and it is possible realtime to kill him before he starts moving again when he is casting the lightning spell (which he often will do when you break the seal) as you're getting three hits per button press if you get the spacing right- this also increases your RoF cap Mega-Man style as it doesn't care how long it takes, but whether the projectiles are still out and about.

Yiii. Most wtf was the bottom two line clear Though, I'd have been amused if the graphical artifacts persisted- Dr. Mario's Virii escape the bottle! So, do we know why p2 input restores stability yet?

in re: turtling in Battle 2's enclosed areas w/feather: You're not invincible in there. Not sure if using a feather while sitting/driving on an item box gets you the item while you jump, but that might be a way around. In SMK 1, you didn't necessarily need to dump a red shell on a wall if you were a perfect driver going at top speed (as Bowser/DK), though this is more applicable to racing modes. Also, in battle mode you could if you aimed correctly cause a red shell to be unable to hit someone sitting in the open due to turning radius- it'd just loop until something hit it or another item bumped it out of the very limited number of projectile-on-course slots.

Players A and B take one or two hits each to bump D off the item box right as the invincibility duration ends. Player C then hits D during his briefly vulnerable moment.
Running into starred karters while not starred does nothing to them, you just take the hit. Also, you have the entire invincible time to pick up your second star Right, can be stolen. But you can steal ghosts too
stolen during BLINK BLINK BLINK
99% sure that you can use the item during this period as well.

Which is a bummer for those of us who like to make Dead Levels. But yeah, n v1.4 has robust replays, recordings, and e'en frame-advance. Not sure what content the recording files contain, but it's the input iirc. HMMmmm...

Well, speaking as an outsider, it looks like you're tripping a non-loaded exit so it'd be natural to go to zero or whate'er garbage the object's pointing to. Don't the other WWs usually hit an exit that is loaded (with 3d models and all)?

It's slower because the boomerang bros flies up in the air instead of going directly down, plus you must wait for the boomerang to go off screen. Hence the routine talk behind throwing the boomerang as early as possible while backing off.
I was guessing the former might be the case- I haVen't looked at SMB3 discussion much (Or at least not old discussion.). Thanks for the answer, it's the only thing that looked suspect.

I can already tell how the boss fights after the huge crab will be: Attack a bunch of times, wait 1 minute for the MP to regenate, repeat.
Mana restores. Also, glyph combos use hearts, so some mixing up. In this vein, deviating for some MP max-ups and restoratives may speed things up. 19:74 bossrush 2. Whee. Redire-flying is fun

Most of the scrolls (that upgrade moves) aren't too useful for TASing, I think. Wheel perhaps, as it might be needed to roll through certain kinds of obstacles. Then again, it might not- I remember one point where it forced a stop, trying to drive an iced wheel through a waterfall. The sword and bomb upgrades a. require their respective scrolls from late worlds (Bomb is in world 8 iirc, Sword in 6) and don't do much aside from being different element really. Hammer is undoubtably the best pick against Dedede as his vulnerability is artificially long, but I think that using Bomb Drop may be faster on others, as it's good damage + very fast rate of attack. Might want to try that out. Tornado might be an option- not sure if TAS capabilities override the nice mobility and invulnerability and decent damage against the short-invulnerables. edit: Found my little cheat sheet of what treasures need abilities. Hard Blocks (look like gray versions of SMB1 stairs) require UFO, Fire, Hammer, or maybe one or few others(Metal for instance, if going down) to break.Steel Blocks (metal with corner rivets) require any fire-element attack to break. Fire itself is fastest. Fuses require fire-type too, natch. Posts need hammer or stone or magic to beat in. I don't remember all of what these symbols on my chart mean, I'll try to playtest and fix it up later._ means nothing special. Directions mean a choice in stage required. 1-3: Animal, _ 2-1: Right, _ _ 2-3: Wheel, Bubble (in its directional capacity), Animal. Also, a wheel bubble 2-5: _, Hard Blocks, _ 2-ex: Post, _ _ 3-1: Wheel/Laser (up attack, but these work well), Hard Blocks, _ 3-3:_, kill Dee, _ 3-4: Fuse+cloud(fire-type), fire (or being fast), _ 3-5: Fire or Wheel 3-ex: 3-tile wallpiercing attack, _ _ 4-1: Cutter (timing/remoteness, bomb may be usable), Laser or Spark, _ 4-3: up, left, wheel 4-4: right+Kill dee, steel blocks, steel blocks 4-5: Wheel or other speedy. Fire and fighting (probably others with TAS) can reach right area with chest before it closes making level trivial. 4-ex: Left, down, _ 5-1: distance weapon or invincible(wheel/fire), same again, _ [some tricks possible] 5-2: 4-tile wallpiercing, faster with greater wallpiercing, floorpiercing(firescr/beam/ice/bubblescr) 5-3: Hammer(post, but it gives you hammer), animal, metal. (the Squeak hideout holds a Hammer bubble at end, btw. 5-4: Kill dee, bomb/cupid/(tricky stuff or just being fast), _ 5-ex: Hammer, Ice(not strictly), _ 6-1: Fire/animal (or unnatural speed?), _ _ 6-3: Hammer/post( It's key to have beforehand, it requires large detour to get one, unlike almost all the other parts of the game.), left, _ 6-4: Fuse, cut-type, _ 6-ex: Wheel, kill dee, _ 7-1: up, _ _ 7-2: _, firetype, firetype 7-3: Firetype, _ _ 7-4: _(ufo?sword?), electric-type, _ 7-5: Wheel. 7-ex: Kill dee(middle up), right, _ 8-1: Steel block(up), down-left, and be careful to not have him drop the last one down a pit. 8-2: up-left-left?, kill dee, _ 8-3: animal, hard block, _

In MK64 at least, it'll (in simple case) boil down to which player has the cursor closest to bowser at the beginning, as they'll be more resistant to bumps. Alternately, you have quite a lot of item boxes to pick from on the course, you don't actually have to sit on one box- it's probably better to drive around, actually, to hit itembox on frame soonest for starman. Further alternately, they can't bump if you're ghosted as well as invincible.

I enjoyed much. I'd vote yes on both counts. The playing during Tank and Super Tank was good (99 lives yay) but the boat stage was kind of meh. Nicely done on new route through Bowser's Castle and the playing after killing him. Questions: On 8-fortress, did the prior run do as long a run-slide under the spikes as you? Did it matter? Worry: Please tell me that you can't tailthwack to kill the Boomerang Brother. Or that it'd be slower to.
