Any new progress lately? It's been almost 6 months since the last update, and I would love to see how this new run is progressing.

While it was nice seeing the BLJ used for more than just getting through the doors, I agree that a 151 Star Run would be more interesting to watch. Meh vote from me.

So, what are the chances of extending this to the SNES? For that matter, what SNES games would be most likely to work with such a project?

This version has more merit, but I kind of like the original pacing, as if you were an artist having to draw a cartoon for each one of a very long line of fans.
I was honestly a bit disappointed. One of the cool parts about the last submission was the fact that it was TAS-fast AND it made loads of awesome pictures. We'd get one beautifully detailed artwork and then 10 quick ones. This run was beautiful and amazing, but just dragged compared to the last one. Voting meh.
My sentiments exactly. Sure the new drawings are nice, but the pacing is what puts me off.

I just finished a run on my SNES using this code. While it did make my run considerably shorter (I've never been able to get a sub 2-hour run myself, certainly not with a final collection rate of 93%), it does cheapen the run a bit. Some words of advice to anyone who does use this trick: 1: I was able to get up to the trick with just 3 extra tanks, although the route I took (Spore Spawn->Kraid->Phantoon->Gold Torizo) did cut things close with a couple of the battles, particularly Phantoon. Overall, not much problem for a TAS, I'm sure. 2: If you skip Dreygon and the Space Jump, you will need to come in the back door. And if you do, Don't be tempted to grab the Screw Attack before you do the trick. It will go away, leaving you without it for the rest of the run. (Yes, this is from personal stupi--Erm, I mean experience...) Overall, while it was cool to see that it worked, there's not that much to be gained by it, except maybe an Over-100% run done without the time warp beam glitch. (Whatever it's called.)

Just barely noticed this new WIP. Looking good. I particularly like the extra stuff you do while waiting for Giles to get where he needs to go. I didn't know Nasir could spin like that... :) Can't wait to see the next portion.

My one concern about the submission is the code entered at the beginning (the one that takes away most of the DK barrels and gives you both kongs at the start of the level) isn't really mentioned in the submission text. Granted, it's a minor detail, but still, how much longer would the movie have been without entering the code?

As far as healing goes, what are the numbers for healing in the "Quiet" areas? (Towns, Silence Cave, Philips Castle Grounds, etc...)

Just got around to watching the WIP, looking good so far. I see you left out the Shiny Stone this time. ;) One thing I always wondered, how much faster is it to buy the Healing Pot rather than grabbing one of the two in the cave? I know it saves the time required for the Item Fanfare, but how much time does the path itself save? I do remember that the first floor pot is well out of the way, but what about the second floor pot?

I already posted this in the topic for the currently published movie, but it was suggested that I post it here as well. The currently published movie shows the character going to Poper before entering Siegfried Castle. Having played through the game several times myself, I know it's not necessary to enter the town before going to the castle for the Mint. By going to the castle first, you can save at least 1:10 off the current route. Also, here's a little showing-off trick that I've done before. It's not a time saver by any stretch of the imagination, but it is pretty cool to do. In the basement of Siegfried Castle, it is possible to get all the mouse-armored soldiers onto the screen at once. It is a time consuming task, but after the first 8-10 creatures the game will start to glitch visually, with the system lagging and parts of the creatures (or Nasir himself) getting skipped in the drawing process. Eventually, nearly all of the creatures/Nasir will start to disappear altogether, about the time you get back to where you started. At that point, you can either fire off a pair of Wind Tornadoes or (if you've beaten Duma already) a couple Water Rushes to clear them out again. Hope the first part helps any future runs.

I know it's been 5 years since this movie was published, but I thought I'd bring up a few ideas for anyone who might be thinking of improving on this run. Besides the optimizations that the author mentioned, there is one major timesaver that I think needs to be mentioned, and that is the fact that it is not necessary to visit Poper before entering Siegfried Castle to obtain the Mint. That will save quite a few seconds (perhaps a minute or more, I haven't bothered to time it out yet) over the route shown.
