Yes, I don't think there was been much activity there in a while, but people are active at http://golf.shinh.org/

This was a challenge over at codegolf: http://codegolf.com/paint-by-numbers edit oops this is a topic about a specific puzzle not the this type of puzzle in general

[938] N64 "1 star" Super Mario 64 (USA) by Swordless Link & AKA in 06:47.27 (m64,avi) Whoa 7 pages of comments already, I would just like to add that this was so good that this will change the rating system for movies that come to theaters. Previously 4 stars was the best rating a movie can get, but now 1 star will be the best rating.

Along time ago I was a speed runner of zelda:lttp. I was talking to TheSilentAssassin and he mentioned these people using save states and stuff who were going to make a run of this game, and gave me a link. It is ironic because the mention of these people, made think of them as the enemy. I thought I had to beat them even though they "cheated."
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Hey I beat hard yesterday but I had to do some juggling. Is hard possible without juggling?

How do you do this?
After you beat either normal or hard on desktop td it allows you to enter your name and an optional group name, so just write in tasvideos for the group name. Edit: actually you enter the group name after you submit the score.

Hmm I haven't tried lvl 6 on xenotactic but according to boco in earlier post its the same as the 100 challenge from desktop td.

Do you mean, squirt tower? Most of the level 10 group got past. I believe you're wrong.
I think he is only slightly wrong, it can be beat using just a 1 squirt tower, but there will be leaks. I know this topic is about xenotactic, but I have played both and desktop td is a far superior game. Xenotactic is fun but really it is just a copy of desktop td except with more lag, less features, no high scores, etc. If you submit scores for normal/hard on desktop td use group name tasvideos. It looks like moozoh and lagdotcom have already done this, I will too next time I play but I have mainly been trying the challenge modes which for some reason don't have a group score thing.

Thanks KevDude for that link, they beat me by two points grr. AKA, there are programs that do that, but a program that can do only that isn't that useful for this because you have to plan the whole game ahead of time. Here is one I wrote a long time ago, there are most definitely better ones out there though. To run do make, then "brute words3"
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Heh, you could always add funny stuff in with the extra letters and still get a high score. PS, why am I always getting sexual words, nymphomaniac, ejaculating, etc (I'm not a pervert, my computer program comes up with these words automatically).

this is worth 1776 using the official scrabble dictionary. http://www.darrenks.com/temp/oxyphenbutazone.jpg edit: oops its 1776 forgot to add 50 for all used.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

I have not verified the route for oxyphenbutazone with 1783, but it is highly probable it can be done judging from my experience with getting conceptualization to work. Earlier I mentioned goal of tas=max total score, but I think that this would basically done by getting 2 huge words, each using 3 tripples. Everything else is pretty minor when compared to *27. So your idea of a huge comeback could be still done one last two turns.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Better wordlist here: http://www.scrabulous.com/twl_dictionary.php In this list, oxyphenbutazone is the best playable word counting where the doubles are at. But for a tas, would be best to extract what ever dictionary the game uses. Edit: using new word list you can get 1783 oxyphenbutizone with "bladderlike", "ejaculated", "equalities", "opacifying", "preinterviewing", "thenceforward", "zoogametes". This uses the official scrabble word list. It could be a little higher if you try and hook in 2 more words, but that makes it very difficult and won't add much.

The lot of planning would be the fun part. I tried to figure out how to get a ton of points in 1 turn and here is the best I could do: http://www.darrenks.com/temp/conceptualizing.jpg
c o n c e p t u a l i z  i n g
3 1 1 3 1 3 1 1 1 1 1 10 1 1 2
     *2              *2
------------------------------
44 * 3 * 3 * 3 (3 tripple word scores)
= 1188

n y m p h o m a n i a c
1 4 3 0 4 1 3 1 1 1 1 3
-----------------------
23 * 3 (1 tripple word score)
= 69

s y l l a b i c
1 4 1 1 1 3 1 3
             *2
= 18

q  u i p u
10 1 1 3 1
16 * 3
= 48

f r i t z
4 1 1 1 10
       *2
= 27

j e r k i n g
8 1 1 5 1 1 2
19 * 3
= 57

for a grand total of
1188 + 69 + 18 + 48 + 27 + 57 + (50 all used)
            +----+
            |1457|
            +----+
Dang, I was just about to post this and I see someone has beaten me. Edit: turned picture to a link, it was too huge. In my defense most of those words they use aren't in my dictionary which I thought had every official scrabble word, but I guess I was wrong. I'll look into this, meanwhile here is the wordlist that i used
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

It looks like there is a scrabble game for gba and another for gbc. I haven't played them, but I'd like to throw out there the idea of making a scrabble tas. Some amazingly things could be done with careful luck manipulation and planning. It could be fun to destroy the computer, but also break many real world records such as 392 points in 1 turn. See records at wikipedia I think the best goal would be to aim for highest score. A question would be whether to make it versus the AI or make it a 2 player movie to cooperate to achieve very high scores (I am assuming both of these modes are available). I am not planning on working on this, but I am curious to hear what you think of the potential of this game.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Got a hole in one on hole 10! The trick is to just do it super fast. Edit: got a hole in one on hole 9 too! Both of these were done "tool assisted," using a program called AutoHotKey to click very quickly and accurately. Although it is not perfectly accurate there is some still randomness, for instance the script for hole 9 failed the first attempt but worked second attempt. Edit2: I think hole 7 might be able to be done in 2 shots. In rare circumstances if you shoot the arrow through a wall fast enough it will have enough speed to pull you through the wall, but it will return super fast, so fast that the arrow can go through the wall again. When it pulls you through the wall yet again, it will shoot you over twice as far as a normal shot can take you.

Ah I was about to ask how to shoot out of bounds, but I think I figured it out, now I just gotta play the first 17 again to try :) Edit: ok got 18 in 2, but it is very difficult to aim the second shot, thx for the tip. I think 9 and 10 can be done in 1, but I don't think 14 can, although it might.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

I kept track of my best score per hole for a few (ok maybe a little more than a few) play throughs and here are my results:
hole	my	par
1	1	3
2	1	3
3	1	4
4	1	5
5	1	5
6	1	5
7	3	6
8	2	5
9	2*	5
10	2*	5
11	2	4
12	2	6
13	1	4
14	2*	5
15	2	8
16	2	5
17	1	4
18	4*	9
sum	31	91
I put a star ones I think might be beatable, all others I'm pretty confident are the best possible. To try and beat those star ones is frustrating since you have to play though the whole game to try again. Please post if you beat any of those scores. As for best total I don't know, I'm not very consistant.

I have money on the fact that mc1 can be improved by making the turns tighter and keeping good luck manipulation to get shrooms while doing so. If I am proved wrong i will record myself eating a hat. Thats how sure i am.
A statement like that is gutless because you can never be proved wrong even if you are wrong. Besides 99% of existing movies can be improved but that doesn't mean they are bad or that I could do any better. This run was awesome, in terms of entertainment it is top notch and one of the most entertaining runs on the site. My only question is in one of the earlier koopa beach levels you go in the water for the first couple of laps but complete the last few normally. This doesn't make sense to me, could you explain?
