And here's the ranking in full detail. (as usual, don't click if you haven't watched the video yet, since it spoils the ranking)

Oh, by the way, I forgot to throw in my yes vote. Pretty neat stuff there. Note to other publishers/encoders: I'm going to encode and publish this once it gets accepted.

AVI dumping doesn't seem to work properly in 0.2.0 on Windows 7 x64. It creates a zero-frame file (per VirtualDub) that's 9.67 KB big. I used FFV1 as video codec and uncompressed as audio codec. A game was already running before I started the dump. Same thing happens in the latest nightly build (from April 3rd).

Fair enough. By the way, ventuz: Are you fine with me uploading the temp encode to my channel (I saw you made a temp encode for Spelunker II, which I presume was for your Spelunker II submission)? Pretty much everything is ready, I just have to flip the switch. EDIT: Link to video

It seems there is still some text to go through after the credits roll (akin to earlier Earthbound runs). This is how my AVI dump ends. After finishing the dump, I decided out of curiousity to set the movie to read+write (note: I didn't save it afterwards), then pressed A a few times until the "To be continued" screen showed up. This leads me to believe that the run should stop at the "To be continued" screen, but....I don't know. Either way, making the temp encode. EDIT: Also, by the looks of it, this is a "game end glitch".

I have tried it just now, and quotes are required for the video title if it contains spaces (it's the same deal for tags as well; if one of them contains spaces, put tag list between quotes). Also, the upload speed was at over 1.1 MB/s (over 1.4 MB/s on my second test upload) for me on a 40 MB test file. EDIT: Caption uploading works as expected. EDIT 2: Oh, by the way, updating an already uploaded video's metadata causes the permissions to be reset back to Public, though I'm pretty sure that if I added the --permissions option, it wouldn't have happened. Just wanted to point it out (it happened to me when I messed around with the test video using ytu, at least).

The hack can be found right here (patch to an unmodified (JU) ROM). Anyway, this is yet another one of those hacks that are pretty much designed to be "impossible" without the use of tools (with graphics clashing to boot, hooray!). Since thelegendarymudkip posted a YouTube video that's 50 seconds faster than this (and I'm pretty sure the 6 fireworks at 3-3 plus not ending input properly don't cost 50 seconds in total), I'm going to vote no on this submission for being suboptimal.

CoolKirby: Thing is, I feel that doing a TAS showing all 100 floors would be tedious, and I feel that it would be boring to watch (yes, I know the Vault exists, but still). Also, I wouldn't necessarily call the ending when you beat the 100th floor the "best ending", but more a "secret ending". Patashu: My initial plan was to submit 2 versions: One run (with warps) that goes until the 60th floor (regular ending, 11 floors in total) and one with warps that goes until the 100th floor (51 floors in total). Though, it seems like from the understanding of your post, I should make a TAS with warps going until the 60th floor and then make another one that only covers floors 61-100. If that's the case, I'd probably have to talk to a judge. But....anyway, here's my second WIP. It includes a 3-frame improvement on Floor 6 thanks to different input.

Ah, by the way, I forgot to mention that this is going to be a route with warps; that is, a very large chunk of the regular game is skipped, thanks to it having a warp after a warp after a warp until floor 58, so the regular game would only be 11 floors in total. By the way, nothing past the 60th floor can be skipped, since the warps from the 61st floor onwards actually take you back to the regular game (with notable exception to the warp in the 61st floor, since it just takes you back there). So...a run with warps plus the "postgame" would be 51 floors in total.

The route to the 60th floor would be the exact same, so no.

The Quest of Ki is a video game developed by Namco in 1988. It is part of the Tower of Druaga series (in fact, it serves as a prequel to the series). The player controls Ki, a priestess sent by Ishtar in order to retrieve the Blue Crystal Rod, which was stolen by Druaga. Here's a small WIP I made that covers floors 1 and 6. (IMPORTANT: it will only sync in BizHawk 1.9.2 or newer!) And here's a list of addresses I found This game is interesting in the sense that once the game is beaten (the regular end is at floor 60), you can play 40 bonus floors. Therefore, there are 100 floors in total (but most of the regular game will be skipped thanks to warps). After the 100th floor is beaten, a special ending triggers. I'm not sure if I should include them in the full TAS or just TAS until the 60th floor.

Thank you, now the plot makes no sense whatsoever. Yes vote.

You need to check the setting called "useless_is_useless" (yes, it's really called that) in the Glidemk2 settings. That way, Mario won't appear as a silhouette throughout Peach's Castle. Oh, by the way, to the other encoders/publishers: Please disable filtering (it defaults to "Force bilinear") in order for the text (and presumably the status bar during a fight) to look good. The above is also a note to the other encoders/publishers.

By the way: I have dumped the run, and can confirm that some sound effects are missing and outright don't play at all after a certain point. I've checked in DOSBox and the sound effects play fine there, so it could be an emulation issue. Aside from that, the run was pretty well made, so I'm going to vote yes.

OK, so I installed the WAD I found into my PAL Wii, and it runs at 50Hz. For the record, since it runs at 50Hz, the game runs about 16.7% slower (sound pitch lowered, Mario/Jumpman moves slower). Normally, in cases where the game actually runs at 60Hz in a PAL VC release, a message appears at the top right corner (click to enlarge): For the record, Donkey Kong Original Edition was first bundled with a special version of the Wii (a red-coloured one). Later, it was released on the 3DS VC for those who bought a specific game and registered it before a specific deadline (now it's available for €4.99 in the EU eShop) and presumably WiiU VC. Whether it's the same ROM as in the initial PAL Wii release, I have no idea. EDIT: I just bought it from the 3DS eShop and it runs at 60 FPS there. Seems to be the same ROM as well, having the same copyright date (1983-2010) as the one normally found in a special edition PAL red Wii.

I can safely confirm the run syncs just fine with a clean image (that is, without any save files, so without jn1save.0 and jn1savem.0). Its checksum is 7d0fb2bf206640d3db48973881a3e295 and contains all the files in the submission comments, bar the two files mentioned above. Here's the slightly edited movie file. (using the checksum of the HDD image mentioned above)

One person in the YouTube comments wonders why you didn't shoot down the fifth boss right away (from 7:07 to 7:26 in the YT encode):

Fair enough. As has been pointed out, it's a handheld game, so there are no differences with the frame rate between US and European releases.
