thx people glad you liked the pokerun about stars nah that inflates ego and does no more, trophies serve as self promotion for the site I guess Those computer eyes and mouth sure look like a pokeball, lol. Since it seems the category names change from year to year you could create a trophy based on the winning game instead of having a thousand mario statues in different poses

you learned quite a lot really quickly congrats :D Doing the same without save corruption is really smart actually, or needs more brains to execute, although it would have problems with publication so its dumb from that point of view I guess. iirc you dont get the badge, but you are safer testing again sda allowed me to speedrun "pokemon yellow in 1 minute" if I wanted actually (no means to record tho), so not only zzazz, save glitching is allowed.

Goldeneye: Train takes the prize, but all levels (except maybe Egyptian) are awesome, ie Silo or Frigate.

If you want fastest time skip them, and make a separate video of the bonuses of all characters in the training mode thing.

The problem with SotN in general is just how powerful the characters are. To keep things remotely interesting I think you'd have to outlaw Richter's item crashes and Alucard's spells (including the shield spells).
My brother played ritcher without crashes and it was very interesting to watch and I bet more to play, but it wasn't a spamfest of specials and had a lot of dodging, since fingers hurt.

I dont understand correctly what you said so just in case, I did not say you dont have to battle a trainer (although I dont rule out you might do it without, bad memory), and thomaz clarified that you can save. What happens when you talk to the guy that takes you to brock? I dont remember.

you can glitch any number of areas, then recover your start button one last time and harvest all of them, as long as you dont battle a trainer and recover start then the glitched areas will remain glitched when you go back to them if you like you may also glitch 3, harvest two, glitch three more and then harvest the four left since you do more than one in a row you can "link" the battles so that one glicthed pokemon triggers the next, or you may battle a wild pokemon or trainer battle and use it for the next glitched area, whatever you prefer. for some reason i recall there was a "catch" when saving (i think the glitched areas get saved, or maybe they dont), but you won't save anyway

The party and/or box menu give access of sizeof(pokemon-struct) at a time, as such I doubt it's possible to complete the dex but it's possible to complete a chunk, although I'll shut up about it since I haven't tried anyway. There are two options, break the party menu and switch pokemon to overwrite data. Unlikely, save glitch broke the party counter for this, zzazz doesn't. The second way is doing this from the box menu, zzazz already does to overwrite the item counter and since the pokemon struct is bigger than a byte it should be overwriting part or all of the dex already (its right before the item counter). Now I had easy access to empty data which is full of FFs that wouldnt crash the game when switched, this completes the dex. zzazz will most likely not have this, so it depends on the runner's skill how much pokedex they complete. Anyway, the first step would be doing this since some/anything you caught previously would get overwritten. EDIT: Ok found and checked my memory map, the 10th pokemon covers the owned and seen pokedexes on their entirety as well as the item counter, the first and second items and the item type of the third item. Whatever you put on that spot will overwrite the dex. Out of the whole pokemon this data of the pokemon or "supposed" pokemon would cover the owned pokedex: SpecieA, SpecieB, HP, Status, Type1, Type2, Moves 1234, OT Id, Experience, HP EV The more bits 1 you get there the more pokedex will get completed. A final possible way to edit the dex is by changing the nickname of your 7th and 8th pokemon on your party (this is assuming you can), again the more 1s you get there the more pokedex would be completed. If name rater uses the party counter it won't be possible through him. A possibility would be by catching a wild pokemon and/or using the boxes to withdraw a 7th/8th pokemon.

hold on, zzazz gives full pokedex? my glitch run does not use zzazz just in case. zzazz may give all badges (or most) if you manipulate the memory, zzazz MAY change your pokedex (not sure, when you play with the boxes you may change the pokedex, p4wn3r you may want to check it) but it wont complete it.

awesome, the only question left for ZZAZZ is what happens exactly that the data is loaded like that (99 99 blank etc) a bit boring since needs it debugging. For the record for speedplay as long as you get many items you can get the 76 from there, not all "items" crash the game when changed, and you can toss items to get the 76. For tas you can always use the trainer id for example, for non tas you can instead use your money counter and manip it by buying stuff (before zzazz).

damn your right I got a new computer and lost track of my files, finding the movie will take a while this is in text version more of less, as you can read it is not a definitive plan (ie what special to use or how to get the exp for gastly to trigger L100, its wrong on the post): http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,8457.msg235192.html#msg235192 Too bad on the box using the party counter instead of the FF marker. About the poison, the poison doesn't crash the game, the 99s that are inserted at the status value byte at least. As you can tell since when you keep your party within its boundaries nothing happens. What I mean is that the FF marks the end of party, sure its gone, but the next FF then becomes the new end of party, the item list's "end of item list" is the next FF. My assumption is that for step poison your party has more than 6 slots now. In other words the algorithm for step poison doesn't use the party counter but just keeps going until it finds the end of party. It also means that after each step the game will check each pokemon in your party of more than 6 for poison status. The first ones have poison but also have a lot of life, but once you get out of your first 6 normal slots you start meddling with the pokedex and items regions first and then with other game data, if one of them is read as having a status of poison then their supposed hp would be reduced but since it is not actually hp and actually is something else that may or may not like being changed then the game crashes, in this case it allows one step but at the second it crashes, hanzou's allowed 10 I think. You can check this by doing the bad ZZAZZ with 6 pokemon then manually restoring the FF, except one byte after its original place (making your party have 7 pokemon). That way your party will be longer but it wont get out the pokedex region. If you can walk as much as you want then my assumption is correct (although it would also depend on your pokedex data so make sure it is safe when read as a pokemon). Just read your edit, cool, Im more interested on your interest of desciphering how this all works tho :P Specially if the info can allow to finish a run withot a special of 254, 254 requires an extra battle to raise evs.

cool, I didn't even check what the overwriting does since I could do the trick without being restricted to Pewter by using special 254 iirc, I finished a test run using Vermillion but didnt "do" the run since the save glitch was way faster, video is on youtube i think The pokedex is after the pokemon data and after that the items, pokedex will never have FF at that point in the game so the FF from the item list cancel button would be the party's EOF. Then you could use the box to deposit your extra pokemon (moving FF up and up) and then retrieve one to overwrite the items counter. If that is not correct what about doing it with 2 pokemon, after glitching deposit 3 so that the pokemon counter rolls back to FF and be able to use the party menu to switch and overwrite the items counter. On my notes I have that it starts at D079 just that it and 7A refresh to their "normal" values afterwards, also their overwriting continue up to D260 (6th pokemon data). All this for yellow. So first what causes the crash, a pokemon fainting from poison is what I remember but it could be an incorrect status value and I remember wrong. If the first about pewter and stuff then pewter or its coordinates while in there might help not hitting a pokemon death by poison on hanzous movie.

I could be being dense but I don't get why you are looking this way, actually I didn't get anything you said, but that last sentence grabs my curiosity more.

Not sure if it happens on every machine, but on my xp64, gens10a (and gens10) crashes after 2,025,743KB of AVI are recorded. Im not sure if it is supposed to continue or if it attempts to create a new file (and a pointer breaks), but it crashes regardless. The partition has 24gb, all free.

While playing around managed to jump the old man and get a direct grab of his monkey. This could probably be helpful. movie (gens10): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/114400418/Ristar%20%28J%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv, edit: ah, saw it was suggested on the submission thread :D

its too big for the program -on your current ram at least, the program tries to load your whole 128Mb+ file and display it on the list box. It should load only what's gonna be visible, but that's how it was coded. I don't think the file size is a tas editor problem because it wouldn't have got to the point of saving the file (it never got to open it), unless of course you managed to open it the FIRST time and you had this problem later.

yes, maybe, I'm just a bit lazy to put all my files together (got severely scrambled when i moved to a new pc). I had like 5 frames but the random encounter was missing and was forced to search on the high values (8,9,etc) which now I can, I'm optimistic there's at least 1 frame waiting there.

My pokemon yellow run was accepted despite knowing there was a two frames improvement. All in all I find this "it must be rejected because we know it isnt perfect" completely stupid. It seems you got other roads available anyway, I was extremely impressed with the run (only played metroid once tho), just wonder why you didnt move around vs mother brain, that was the only boring part. Ridley had some of it but it finished soon after, I was hoping you'd start moving the last thirty seconds or so, what makes it completely necessary to stay in the corner?
