DeHackEd, I wonder why you don't release Lua 0.06 source code. Is there a special reason? (If so, it's OK. I don't mind.)

WaddleDX made a new Metaknight run, which is about 25 seconds faster than the previous run. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/136336976/SDX_Metanight_TAS.smv Also, he discovered an interesting thing by chance during making the movie. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/817745813/SDXbug.smv

Nice run! you shortened DarkKobold and Yeoj's canceled movie about 5 minutes! It not only contains tricks I've told, but it has things that my run doesn't have. Easy yes vote. // The Legend Continues: Ganbare Goemon 2 ;)

Important Note: Do not use snes9x 1.43 v11beta17-v12beta7! There were some glitches in savestate! This terrible thing was fixed at improvement 12 beta 8! Sorry for my terrible mistakes. Thank you for your patience.

You will need only win32 binaries. As you said, beta version may have introduced new bugs (In fact, I made mistakes frequently!), but I believe current latest version (1.51 v2 beta4) is reliable. Movie timing is not changed at all, so you can continue your work, but do not load a old snapshot when you continue the work. You need to recreate a savestate with new version. Note: Official 1.51 cannot handle new savestate.

Why don't you work with 1.51 improvement™? :) http://tasvideos.org/forum/t/6573 I guess this should solve your problem. If not, please inform me.

Practically no. I'm mainly working on other runs (or emulator development) now. I'm still keeping an eye on the topic though. I'm looking forward to zggzdydp's optimized run. Ganbare!

http://gocha.is.land.to/page/SNES/Ganbare%20Goemon%20Tricks.html -- written in Japanese, so I'll try to explain some of them in English. Scroll Abuse Glitch When 1-player is holding A or B, both 1-player and 2-player can reach very corner of the screen. This can make a room transition a bit faster. In some cases, you even can skip the most part of the room! When you use the trick with vertical room transition, the players will appear from the left top corner of the room. The trick may work as a shortcut, or it may shut them in the left top corner. Ideas of use: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JojhOqKVsM (horizontal) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by5Aa9Qki6s (vertical) Lottery いー0 (A-0) Glitch (works with JPN ROM only) Choose a consecutive numbers group (tiger or cow), then choose a set quickly as far as you can, and all lotteries will become いー0 (A-0). This makes earning big money easier, though it doesn't save time so much. This trick cannot be used with USA ROM, since the interface of lottery has changed, I guess. Short Tips - Memory addresses between USA and JPN V1.2 are the same as far as I know (JPN V1.0 not). - Attacking or jumping stops the player's moving for 1 frame, generally. Minimizing them is better for fastest completion. - You can cancel attack animation, unless you are using level 3 weapon. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/519179575/mysticalninja-attack.smv - Hitting dish(es) before she throws new dishes may lose time a little (you need to wait more till she throws the dishes, right?). - You can buy sandals faster. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1132433556/mysticalninja-buyfaster.smv - Hyottoko dance (before stage 2 boss) is very laggy. Taking some items for removing lags is faster actually. - You need to buy a dictionary, but you don't need to use it actually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhRaenFLHdg $7E008E indicates when you can back. - Yajirobee quick kill demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlM3iV-1bl0 - You can skip the conversation with Yae http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdEOExWcLpo Finally I liked zggzdydp's run. Though I'd like to see the run of Japanese version, I don't persuade you to use JPN ROM. So keep it going zggzdydp! :)

Nice WIP, zggzdydp! Stage 2 boss fight may be better than mine! You can improve your run though, see my old WIP (TestRun, maybe). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjhCjx37ZAc (stage 1-2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUVqPn2BW_Y (stage 3-5) http://www.mediafire.com/?dx4l0vb2mb5 (avi h264 60fps) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1015097393/ganbaregoemon-tas-gocha-1.43-old-wip.smv (needs Ganbare Goemon J V1.2 ROM) Though Lottery いー0 glitch works with J version only, any other glitches should also work with USA version. And yes, Snes9x 1.43 desyncs often with the game. I don't know if 1.51 (improvement) has a problem like that. Edit: Hex-editing would help you when it desyncd :) Note: I still wish the run of the game would be finished with J version ;) Current Watch for Ganbare Goemon J V1.2

I assume it's a emulator bug. IIRC, the game desyncs a lot when playing/recording a movie. Try 1.51 (improvement), and you may improve the situation. I updated 1.43 v12 beta and 1.51 v2 beta. When the same macro was used by multiple players, the macro text was vanished from dialog, fixed. (I didn't update v11 anyway) Edit: beta5, fixed more (2008-02-18 9:16 GMT+9)

Put v12 beta3, just merged the changes of v11 final 2. Dark Fulgore, you need to modify config file of the watch when you add/update an emulator. Help -> Copy Settings for S9XWATCH should tell you the line which you need to add. Edit: Fixed terrible hotkey dialog bug, sorry for the delay (18:52 GMT+9)

Sorry, improvement 11 final is not the final actually. I replaced the file. Changes: - Fixed the problem Saturn has reported (hopefully) - Fixed the full-screen crash problem (hopefully) - Improved "Text In Image" option (incidentally) Hope this is really the final. Edit: re-replaced file...final 3. I hate offset.h ('A`)

Full-screen guys, I spent a very hard time for the error, a couple of hours lost! Anyway, I modified the code handling WM_DISPLAYCHANGE finally. I believe that v12 beta2 improves the situation.

Saturn, that's odd. Both v11 final and v12 beta worked properly for me, of course. The changes between the final beta and release are very few. I just fixed hq2x filter's bug and modified Makefile.mingw (though I don't use it mainly). A source code diff will prove that. DeHackEd,

improvement 11 + lua 0.04 = improvement 12 (beta) Changes: - "Text in image" now works for lua. - Fixed a crash problem in S9xLuaWriteInform.

pirate_sephiroth, I couldn't reproduce the glitch, and I have no idea about it. Sorry. The first submission which is made with improvement 11 has been cancelled. I'd like to release improvement 11 anyway, now no more betas. Enjoy your TASing. Fin..? The Legend Continues Now improvement 12 beta has come. I just merged DeHackEd's great lua scripting and did some minor changes. Built with VC2005, no DLLs required.

You can pass the ceiling like this video, though I don't know whether it saves time :P

Snes9x 1.51+ v5.2 - Win32: Direct3D output (optional) (OV2) - Win32: Fullscreen mode respects refresh rate setting (d3d only) (OV2) - Win32: updated graphics option dialog, "local vid-mem" and "test mode" in display settings have been disabled. (OV2) - Win32: ESC in fullscreen now exits fullscreen. (OV2) - Win32: new filter: blargg's ntsc filter (three presets) (OV2) Snes9x 1.51+ v5.1 - Win32: Changed the behavior of Clear All to uncheck only certain player's macro. (gocha) - Win32: Modified the behavior of load state around key macro. (gocha) Snes9x 1.51+ v5 - Fixed a problem that reset record worked differently between playing and recording. Apparently 1 frame delay had existed on movie play in older version. Thanks inichi. (gocha) - Win32: Modified hotkey configuration, so that it can assign modifier itself (Shift, Alt, and Ctrl). (gocha) Snes9x 1.51+ v4 - Changed to indicate ignored frames while playing a movie. (gocha) - Win32: Added ForceOutputSound option. The instant hack allows snes9x to output sound during avi recording, its sound quality is bad though. (gocha) - Win32: Changed to keep fast-forward when the window is activated if toggled fast-forward mode is used. (gocha) - Win32: Fixed position saving problem with multiple moniter. (OV2) Snes9x 1.51+ v3 - Win32: Removed bad fullscreen fix for the time being. As a result, the main screen will be lost when you change display settings via Display Properties. However, you can restore it by opening Display Configuration dialog. It's much better than crash, anyway. (gocha) Snes9x 1.51+ v2 - Changed default to disable old sound hack (FixFrequency). (gocha) - Win32: Sync Sound routine for AVI output (experimental). (gocha) - Win32: Improved joypad/background input around. (gocha) - Win32: Fixed full-screen switching bug (hopefully). (gocha) - Win32: Improved "Text In Image" option. (gocha) - Win32: Fixed macro vanishing bug. (gocha) Snes9x 1.51+ - Fixed invalid memory accesses in C4 and OBC1. MMX3 Toxic Seahorse stage now can be emulated with HDMA. (zones) - Updated snapshot to prevent desync. Added some variables related to APU and HDMA. (gocha) - Fixed inconsistent snapshot detection. (gocha) - ROM name in movie now contains katakana. (gocha) - Win32: Added a simple macro feature. Though it's not very smart, it's somewhat useful. The macro feature's syntax is described in lazymacro.txt. (gocha) - Win32: Improved the avi output code. Even if you started avi recording with hi-res scene, video width won't be doubled. Or you can record avi with double scale for hi-res title (see AVIDoubleScale in config file). (gocha) - Win32: Added hotkeys to toggle sound channel. (gocha) - Win32: Fixed input related bug and modified auto-fire. (gocha) - Win32: Fixed hq*x filter bug. (Air) - Win32: Modified smart frame advance related. (nitsujrehtona) - Win32: Added fast-forward to frame for movie. (nitsujrehtona)
