How about this submission? http://tasvideos.org/1670M.html or this one? http://tasvideos.org/2113S.html The time is not counted for the verification since it's a separate file. We have a verification movie available, with this run: http://tasvideos.org/2464M.html

This ought to be interesting. I did some of the missions on the PC version back in the day. Had fun with it. Someday, we have to see MGS2 done. I did all those VR Missions for MGS2 on PC. What a LONG time it took to do them all. But fun. Streaking Mode was quite an interesting change up. I wait for the encode.

hmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like this NeoRaine is Open source (at least according to this page): http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Video_Games/Emulation/Neo_Geo/ what about this one then?
NeoRaine according to the site, is now in Raine. Adding Raine would give some interesting games. Would the license allow it to be done?

It's fast, yes, but I know Tails's (yes, that is correct usage of a possessive for a name ending in S) story is broken. Seeing how broken, while interesting to me, is not fun for me. I am happy to see this get published. I want that, but I was not entertained. I am a Meh Vote. Sorry. I am looking forward to Gamma's story. I know it will be crazy fast/action packed.

The problem is that ROMs change through versions. MAME adds/changes though out versions. Check your ROMs against the latest MAME. It should work fine.

This hack is not good quality. Compared to say Super Demo World the Legend Continues or The Second Reality Project, this is no where as good. Hacks must be good to be here. Don't give up. Keep TASing.

I truly enjoyed this run. I actually found myself laughing at times and being quite amused. It's not often I really enjoy a TAS but this is one time I did.

Technically it's impressive. This is pretty much a Vault run is.

I have configured Bizhawk's ROM paths and when I load a Game Gear game, the ROM path appears to revert to a Sega Master System. The Savestates go into the Game Gear path.
      {
        "SystemDisplayName": "SMS",
        "Type": "ROM",
        "Path": "D:\\Emu\\BizHawk-1.5.2\\ROMs\\SMS",
        "System": "SMS",
        "Ordinal": 1
      },
      {
        "SystemDisplayName": "GG",
        "Type": "ROM",
        "Path": "D:\\Emu\\BizHawk-1.5.2\\ROMs\\GG",
        "System": "GG",
        "Ordinal": 1
      },
Both Sega Master System and Game Gear ROM files load properly and appear to be working properly. This error occurs in the latest SVN r5403 Edit: For some reason the resolution changes in game. This is on the SNES core. The Genesis core will also do this in some games. http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd343/hegyak/MarionoSuperPicrossJapan2013-11-17174546.png http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd343/hegyak/MarionoSuperPicrossJapan2013-11-17174556.png Mario no Super Picross (Japan) SHA1:C4200B9886B16C148B32D2C75D02F2A875D997CC MD5:34255C940FFDAFA25235A7B3C9093186 Is the intended behavior?

I test things when I can. I don't get mad when something isn't right in Bizhawk. I wait. Even if it's not 100% I know it will be eventually. I always look forward to every new SVN and major release.

I don't think Monster Rancher hashes the whole disc. It doesn't take that long to check the disc in game. But, what data is being read? The "get data and hash that," theory sounds right due to the time delay (which isn't long) for the game to get whatever it wants from the disc the player is using. According to the Monster Rancher Wiki, the games use the disc inserted as a source of RNG and that determines the monster's stats (including breed/sex). If the game is using the disc's data as an RNG source, will the exact same monster with the exact same stats come out of the same disc, every time?

Monster Rancher uses discs to create monsters. I know that disc swapping is already emulated for PSX (See MGS). But, that run used game discs that were meant for that game. Monster Rancher, can use discs of music, games and even movies (?) to create in-game monsters the player can obtain and train. A few questions I wanted to ask: What data is being read from the disc by the game when a monster is being created? Can that data be forged (fake ISO)? Is that forged file (ISO) copyrighted? Would a TAS be accepted if it used those forged files? What if the ISO files could be proven to work on a console (once burned)?

creaothceann, if the TAS was constantly modifying the RAM, (Game Genie/Game Shark/Action Reply) that would be against the rules. If the TAS sets the RAM values at the start and did not change them after power-on, except by player input, would that be OK? SRAM is not something that the TAS should set on power-on (except for exceptional exceptions). The game is free to change those RAM values (if the game's code instructs it to). The player is also free to change the RAM values, so long as it's via input. Another way I could say it is, "Set Console's RAM to get best RNG."

What would be the downside (aside from being difficult to verify on an actual console) of the TASer setting the initial RAM values to whatever they wanted?

I voted yes because controlling the console is something that gives the overall impression of God playing a game versus a highly skilled player. A beneficial RAM state is something that a normal player could in theory get (it's random after all) but having a consistent beneficial RAM state when you want it, is representative of the power of TAS. The only caveat I have is, the state MUST be valid for the console. Even if the odds of that state are 1 in Infinty-1 if it's valid, it's OK by me.

SoR2 is my favorite run and game, but SoR3 is more impressive on the technical side for me. SoR2's TAS took damage to save time, but SoR3's TAS took damage, because it could and still have 100%+ heath at all times. SoR3, deserves the Star. SoR2, while quite a fun run, does not deserve the Star due to the "Takes Damage to Save Time" issue I mentioned above.

I can't get Bizhawk to compile with recent SVN (tested with r5190) I get this error message: Error 1 Application Configuration file "app.config" is invalid. Could not find file 'BizHawk.PCE_Debugger\app.config'.

I tried Pokemon Snap in Bizhawk's latest SVN (that compiles) and I couldn't move the camera. I could take pictures, but there were no Pokemon to take pictures of. The Pictures I took, were graphically messed up as well.
