http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1005240083/Paladin%27s%20Quest%20%28U%29.smv Now nearly 3300 frames ahead after Hagubo, and my levels are even higher! I might have uncovered a secret: when changing screens and the battle counter is at 0, it resets (it happened when going in the 2nd part of the cave with Smash). I will try to exploit that on the rerun

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/967620244/Paladin%27s%20Quest%20%28U%29.smv Saved about 600 frames after saving Midia. Although the fighting address isn't all that useful (I lose more frames than I save them), I do use the ones for magic. I think I won't pursue card treasures and will instead go for dropping

I decided to dig in the thread and found people talking about RAM. I finally got to understand the basics. It seems to be pre-determined when stepping somewhere with enemies (it was always 13 when I first get in the Tower of Gabnid). And for some reason, everything resets (the magic RAM) when I fight the goblins...

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/816208952/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv since the previous link desynch, I had to restart a little. I was able to save 321 more frames against xe-la-thoul (568 compared to the previous test run, 1771 compared to the previous published run). I'm now 420 frames ahead of the previous test

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/445819842/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv remembering that macros use less frames, I saved another 241 frames agaisnt xe-la-thoul (now 3667 frames). I'm now ahead of the previous silver-tusk run by 6 frames

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/996407876/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv I lost a few frames fighting Gy-Laguiah. Now 117 frames behind the previous WIP after Zio

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1750844857/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv I've restarted to test a run with Chaz surviving the Tower of Courage Boss in order to be stronger against PD. After a new strategy, incredible luck and an insane amount of resetting, I've saved another 35 frames against Juza (now 2176 frames). I'm only 71 frames behind the previous trial (I had to buy more escapipes/telepipes, so it took a little longer)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1906840078/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv Hmm... At level 14, Chaz makes me save 760 frames from the WIP (against PD). Also, Rika was able to withstand PD II attack. Fighting the bosses on Rykros would rise him to level 17, leaving Rune at level 24 with only gifoi. stay tuned!

True. However, if I remember correctly, Fastjo has very weak defense; could he survive long enough?

I would have to look at how to get those mercenaries AND the money for Lillie. I might consider it

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/69350913/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv this is it! Although the Rykros fights were a little slower, I was able to save about 2k frames against Profound Darkness thanks to a doped-up Rika. It's a 5.6k frames save But since I never settle easy, I want to try and fight PD with a doped-up Chaz. But for that, I need enough telepipes/escapipes since I will kill Rune...

yes, I need deban, and saner makes manipulation a lot easier. Don't forget that Chaz is only at level 4, and his dexterity is terrible, making it even harder to manipulate.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1339674614/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv Althought the fight in Strength Tower wasn't as lucky, I'm still about 3500 frames ahead. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the silver tusk and the genocyclaw against the boss

I doubt it. The ice digger is on the second page of my items; getting it is already 30 frames. And I need go get in a vehicule to get near the Garuberk Tower. It looks complicated I might try it later on

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/478506600/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv After an insane number of resets and different strategies, I finally overcame DF II. I was able to save over 200 frames against the bosses in the Air Castle (compared to the test run with the tusk), although the DF II fight was a little longer. I was also able to get rid of 2 macros I didn't need I now stand 2560 frames ahead of the previous completed speedrun

I did redo DF I and saved an additional 51 frames. Update: I DO need the genocyclaw. Rika attacks about 50 hp less without it against DF II

Is there any way to manipulate Chaz's Tsu damage? Your three shots against DF1 are for ~700, ~530 and ~630. I would imagine getting all three shots up to 700 would save a few seconds off the last combat round.
yes there is, and it's hard as hell, because I also have to manipulate the right attack from DF. This 700 shot is the only one I was able to get on record; in other instances, he spammed an attack-all spell or attacked the wrong person. I might try back...

Zio is immuned to water http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1359645043/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv I redid Zio with the strategy from the previous run (use the flaeli macro once more) and saved nearly 200 frames. Now 1167 frames ahead of the previous speedrung

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/513650210/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv Although Zio's fight was impossibly difficult, I am still 958 frames ahead of the previous fight

Ok to all of the above. Would it then be possible to kill Shadowsabr on the first round? I don't know if you can manipulate Rika/Chaz to do it by themselves profitably.
I never tried it... It would be much harder for sure, since I would need a perfect round (kill Hahn and Alys, have Gryz kill Ripper and the 2 others do Shadowblade). I can try Update: now a 1045 frames advantage after Gy-Laguiah. I don,t know why I created that extra macro in the other run...

Watching the latest WIP now. It's not quite ideal to have Rika attack round one of the Shadowsabr fight; would it make sense to set the macro up for defense?
Shadowsaber ALWAYS attacks first. Making Rika attack makes it cast deban, which gives me an extra 10 frames of manipulation and avoid death. As for Ripper, I've never been able to have Gryz do Crash first
We only use this macro for Igglanova 2, both rounds of the Shadowsabr fight and Chaossorcr, right
Gryz is gone by then. In the regular speedrun, Rika uses eliminate only once, so I don't need a macro
Is it faster to manually have Rika fight the last round of the Juza fight?
by 5 frames

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/564424919/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv Tristal was able to save me another 277 frames, this time against Juza. Now 885 frames ahead

Damn. Using Earth shortens the igglanova fight by 655 frames. I'm 513 frames ahead (setting up the macro takes 120 frames)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/622221345/janus3-phantasystariv.gmv getting the silver tusk is now officially shorter. I have saved almost 4000 frames of fighthing, despite losing some 3300 frames to get the tusk. I am 873 frames ahead of the last published run. Low, let's try Tristal's trick of Earth... PS: Tristal, your trick might just work. Alys' vortex take much more time than Gryz' attack. By keeping Hahn alive, I might be able to cast Vision. If not, then Gryz can still withstand more of Juza's attacks

"have you tried using Chaz's Earth on the first Igglanova" No I haven't, as I never thought about it. I will first see if getting the silver tusk is worth it. I might also try NOT getting the genocyclaw, since holy elemental is quite strong. but should your trick work, it means I could use a macro against igglanova " try to get the Shadowblade to kill Alys." What do you mean? Get Alys killed during my fight to get the shadowblade?
