I tried to continue my normal mode run into the second level, but ran into a frustrating snag of not being able to replicate the bug where both the copter fights toward the end were skipped. I have no idea how I did it the first time. =| That coupled with the fact that the second boss is lame, and it's hard to defeat it quickly without going way out of the way to pick up the Laser weapon. The only other weapons in stage two are the Heavy Machinegun -- which, as noted, isn't that strong -- and the Rocket Lawn Chair, which is garbage. There are Molotov Bombs, which are sweet, but of course grenades can't reach this boss. After watching speed demos of the other Metal Slug games for the first time in a while, I reminded of how sucky Metal Slug Advance really is. I'm wondering if it'd be worth it. Maybe we should wait for Neo Geo TAS ability to be implemented instead. Surely it'll happen someday, right?

Finally, find the fastest way through the levels as more than one paths are possible in some levels. This is important!
Not in the GBA version! Except for the final stage. The GBA Metal Slug is actually kinda lame for this and many other reasons, but since there's no re-recording Neo Geo emulator, this'll have to do. Hard Mode inflates the bosses hit points by quite an amount, actually. If you watch my first test run of the complete game, you'll see that I had around 75 grenades to fight the final boss with, and they were even upgraded to Molotov Cocktails... Yet I still used them all up, along with the ammo from my special weapon, before he died. I know it's the last boss, but sheesh. Other differences in Hard Mode are that the tanks and helicopters get more hit points (not as much of an upgrade as the bosses, though) and most of the enemies in the game fire more rapidly.

I got the first level cut down to about 7200 frames (and this includes me getting the Shotgun Clip), and then I did a run on Normal mode in 6700 frames. I actually liike Normal mode better. Hard mode adds a lot of hit points to the bosses, which cuts back on the "Cool" factor of seeing them beaten very quickly. Anyway... http://ohnolookoutitsaraygun.com/Superhappy-MSATest2-stage1.zip For those wondering, the Shotgun Clip helps out in Stage 4, and I'm pretty positive it's worth the time to get.

This is a glitch that I came across against the fighter jet at the start of the level. It is caused by (I think) luring another enemy into the screen at the time when the miniboss is set to appear. I did it by accident and that was the situation so that's what I think caused it. I'll try and replicate it and make a video.
Yeah, without really trying, I avoided a REALLY slow copter battle at the end of stage 2. =) 'Course, I also used up a lot of time gettng the S.S. Sword on that stage.... probably not something that should be done in an actual run (though it does look cool)

I'm necromancing this topic, because I went and made a test run of this game, for some reason. http://ohnolookoutitsaraygun.com/Superhappy-MSATest.zip It's a "test run", but I doubt I'll ever submit a finished one, so enjoy this one! It's actually pretty allright... Just a few boners here and there.

Good luck with this! I personally found this game a bit too aggravating to perfect, which is why I ended up doing Wario Land 4 instead. =) Remember, jumping while on fire will make the fire last longer!

Thought it'd be fitting to do the games I've TASed. http://ohnolookoutitsaraygun.com/el%20vientooo.zip El Viento played to the end (used Gens 9z). Went for the high score, as it's almost completely necessary in order to be able to get the through the last level (your life meter increases as your score increases). I got tripped up in the conveyor belt level and died. Had to use one of 3 continues. http://ohnolookoutitsaraygun.com/wl4play.zip First 5 stages of Wario Land 4. I attempted to get the CD and gold crowns in all the stages, and failed to do so in two of them. Completing the entire game normally, while trying to achieve these goals, would take around 7 or 8 hours, so I had to stop early. Also, I couldn't defeat Cractus and I got pissed off. =P The bosses in WL4 are REALLY tough to fight without cheating, especially in Hard Mode. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1714381893252672608 Rhythm Tengoku! I play 8 Remix stages in a row and get High Level rankings in all of them. Not exactly a "just play it" video as I DID restart the recording when I got a "Mediocre" rating. Still, this seems to be the best thread to post this in.

I thought about this off and on since I submitted this. =P It's sounding to me like I should submit a new movie with additional keypresses at the end, all the way through to the credits. This would be no trouble at all, really. However, if I'm going to do that, I'd like to redo a few of the last boss fights while I'm at it. So I'll submit a revised version in about a week; how's that sound?

Here are some brief explanations for the stuff Truncated brought up: Butt-stomping: when Wario falls, this speeds up the initial drop while killing any forward momentum he had. Thus, it is good to do the move after Wario walks off a cliff or starts to fall from a jump... sometimes. I also butt-stomp repeatedly during long drops, just for show. Bat-wario: Really hard to optimize, but basically, Wario must flap every 5 or 6 (don't quite remember) frames when moving vertically, and as little as possible while moving horizantally, all while avoiding lamps (which turn Wario back to normal) Happy Holidays!

I never realised before how cool the soundtrack to this game is. Probably because there are so many sound effects making it difficult to hear the BG sound.
Ryoji Yoshitomi is pretty darn awesome. He's the sound director for all the Wario Ware games as well. The guy I got is still working on the video, I guess. I thought I had it figured out myself, and gave it a whirl, and ended up wasting a lot of time making a big, corrupt video. =P I would have to say this is an obsoleting video as well. JuanValdez would probably agree (Paging Juan!)

I have a functional ROM now. I'll try to do a video encode tonight and put it on Google Video.
I have a friend working on this, just so you know, not that you can't be my friend too. But in any case I'll I've a Google Video up myself pretty soon. Normally I wouldn't do this and would just wait for the encode here, but I do understand that GBA roms aren't a cakewalk to find, and I want many people to see this 'cause I spent way too much time than I should have on it! =O Thanks for the comments so far. Advice taken, JXQ. Fortunately, the canceled versions didn't have many views anyway, but this time I'll be sure to PM if necessary.

Haha, you are hilarious :D. You don't need to be sorry, heh, I love to see some improvements! It makes it even better (Of course). However I must ask... Why did you got a CD? :O I can't really see the point, hehe. Hope you got a good explanation:). I vote yes anyway^^.
Oops! Above reply was to xoinx. As for the CD, I'm afraid it's necessary to get as it blocks a path to the third Jewel Piece. That is, the one I have to roll to get to. There no way to jump over the case while rolling. Pretty weird, as the CDs are supposed to be optional items, but not in that case!

Hmmm... Are you talking about when I pick up an object, throw it, then pick it up again? Wario can't run while holding items, so by doing that I can build up a bit of momentum, then when I jump into the item and pick it up again, I jump further and faster then if I had just walked while carrying the item. Sometimes it just provides a little speed boost, but there's one part in the Pinball Zone where it was necessary so I could hit a target before it closed up.

Yay Annette. =3 She plays a bigger role in the Mega CD version, which is the same game, except with cinemas.

I vote for VBM simply 'cause I reached a point in the TAS I'm working on where I could really use this. =D

Alas, it does not. If you load a state while recording, the recording stops. Still, it seems like an ideal emulator to try to build off of, though. Unlike Magic Engine, it's free, and unlike HuGo, it runs on my computer. =P

Recently I realized this may have been the case. Working ROMs for this are pretty difficult to find, and yeah, that lame hacked ROM seems to mostly turn up. I'd love to share mine, but, you know... =( I could temporarily put up my own AVI version after I make the revised movie, but it'd be like a gig in size, since I still have no idea how to encode properly.

Eeehhh.. I'm one of the biggest Wario fans evar, but even I wouldn't sit through a 100% run of II. While this game is much better than SML3, its level design still isn't nearly as well-designed and varied as WL3 and WL4, so it'd be a bit repetitive. Also, seeing the same two bonus games played 50 times would not be fun =| The shortest playthrough will do fine though, and I'm yes voting it.

Yesssh.. People here don't recognize the greatness of Wario. >=| The only Wario Land game that generated a lengthy discussion in the forums is the first one, which is the really boring one that's just like every Mario game. But yes, I can see it won't be easy to edit parts of the movie since I have to somehow stitch everything back together and make it sync up, but it's still better than spending a week redoing the whole thing, I tell ya what. But yeah, waiting to watch it might be good, though I really have no idea when I'll be able to do the edits. Could be in a week.. or in three months, who knows!

Uggh... The people at this site really aggravate me sometimes. Those who were kind enough to actually watch this, I do still plan to use the TAS Editor to tweak this movie to near perfection, so if you have any suggestions on things to fix, let me know. Stuff I already plan to do include... -Redoing the Glyph stage just to make it a little more consistent in strategy with the rest of the site. -In Wildflower Fields, fixing it so the ape doesn't block my path after hitting the switch -In Monsoon Jungle, redoing the Fat Wario part so he collects the crystals (thanks, Paused =) -I moved unusually slowly while getting the Keyser in the Curious Factory, so I'd like to fix that. -In the Pinball Zone, I'll be redoing the second-to-last room, as I realized I didn't need to wait for the first couple balls to go I their goals (I could have went over there as I waited for the last ball to go in) -Of course, my unnecessary detour at the end of Toy Block Tower needs to be omitted. -I may redo the Keyser room in The Big Board as I think my strategy there was flawed. -A bit of Crescent Moon needs to be redone... There's a way to make the whole lengthy process of getting 3rd Jewel Piece a tad more efficient. -Fiery Cavern: After watching Juan's movie again, I realized there is indeed at least one flame pillar that takes less time to wait at than the first one. In my movie, I stupidly took damage at it. Better fix that! -I should be able to get two hits in the first time Catbat attacks, not just one. -Gotta fix the bubble mistake in the Golden Passage -Golden Diva: There may or may not be a way to make her attack more, to help make the fight go faster, so I'll give this another try. Wow.. that's more work than I thought. But I'll do it, because even if only five people watch this movie, you five deserve it for having better taste in games than everyone else. >=O

I just found out about the TAS editor that's being worked on, and I'll probably cancel this submission once VBM support is added to it and I can figure it out. If a way to correct that awful mistake in Toy Block Tower without having to redo half the movie were to exist, then by all means, I'd better take advantage of it!

I'd watch a Super Hard run if someone tried it, though honestly, the differences between it and Hard aren't as pronounced as the differences between Normal and Hard. Only a few of the Jewel Pieces have been moved, and there's basically just more enemies and one heart for Wario.
Looked to be very well played. Slight nag though, for some of the larger falls could there not be some activity?
Usually I'd do the "butt stomp" move, which doesn't actually speed up the fall, except in the very beginning. In the case you mentioned, I needed to be over to the right when I hit the ground; I can't remember if I would have had time to get the gems or not. I probably could have... sorry!
Also just out of curiosity, more than anything, what do you think an run that collected all the CD's and achieved all golds for getting a high score on each level would be like?
I imagine it'd be like comparing the Normal and Hard runs... there'd be more going out-of-the-way to collect things like diamonds and gold coins. It'd involve a lot of strategy and planning, though I don't know if people would appreciate the effort that much (interest in Wario in general is rather low at this site, for some reason. =/)
