So when will we have VBA Link Rerecording? I want to see some multiplayer runs.

klmz: After watching Xaphan's wip I am almost positive that collecting the double jump chip saves time (though the luck manipulation involved is a pain in the ass). There are a ton of places where it helps out (a large timesaver in cockapetri's stage being one).
I'm crazy again. Xaphan: I mean to compare them when both are complete, and then one will get bested out...but someday, someone will learn from them and make it even better, I believe. EDIT: But when will we both fininsh them? Maybe I'll complete my run in one or two years. I'm very unsure.

I'd be glad to see the two Lode Runner's movies done, although some of their levels will be boring to watch.

awesome! I liked the end of the 4th (I think) where you manage to wreck after the race is won.
Now I wonder whether a "100% wreck" run will be entertaining.

The music in this game sounds 8-bit.

I agree with Baxter. The FAQ says nothing about this, which leads to this problem. I have been working on a 1-player movie while there is the corresponding 2-player movie published. The only adventage of 1-player run for that game is less lags. I wonder what will happen if I finally make it faster than the 2-player movie and submit it.

His WIP seems broken! I just saw some crazy reset when he fought the giant robot boss.

Then I'll stick to my MMZ4 project and challenge Xaphan.

I decided to fool around with this a bit. My first attempt through stage 1 is a bit behind your last attempt (37 frames behind at the end of the 2nd area) but I know the comparisons of what I did and what you did. I'll use the goodies you've left behind Randil and give this another whirl.
Are you going to complete this project?

Then the emulator will record it. EDIT: I misunderstood what you said.

I know little about emulation, but I have got an idea: - When you make a savestate, the emulator saves the previous frame and any input at that frame instead of the current frame as recording a 1-frame-only movie. - When you load the savestate, the emulator restores the saved frame and then advances one frame with the saved input as playing a 1-frame-only movie in Read-Only Mode. I don't know if this is feasible. EDIT: I mean that every savestate done this way is actually a 1-frame-only movie.... BTW: I have got a problem that Dega v1.14 for Win32 doesn't work under Windows 98 Second Edition....

I've redone the first boss fight and made it even faster. Now I think the first stage is very close to perfection. I just spent 3 frames to get 3 chips in total! The luck-manipulation has almost driven me crazy, though. To keep the surprise as is, I'm not going to post the WIP now.

I'm using the (U) ROM. Since Xaphan said that he would make and use the Double Jump chip, I think I will skip it so we can then compare the two runs to decide which strategy is better. EDIT: I've beaten the first boss faster than ever. However I still want to re-luck-manipulate the fight to get one more Beam Walker chip for the Junk Armor....

I just viewed this thread a week ago, and I thought you were no longer working on this. As a result, I'd spended a whole week in improving the published run before I finally found this thread.... EDIT: I'll continue!

It seems that v20 has a new bug that causes desync in the beginning of a GBA movie if you choose to record it from power-on or reset. Now I'll stick to v19.3 "the stable version". EDIT: GBA movies recorded with v20 from power-on or reset will desync on any VBAR versions including v20 itself, while GBA movies recorded with v19 will sync on both v19 and v20.

Finally, I've realized that v20 is seriously buggy. All GBA movies that I recorded with v20 from power-on or reset will definitely desync during playback - even with v20 iteslf! Now I'll stick to v19.3.

@Yrr: Have you ever compared your new WIP with my old WIP5? I found that you lost more than 7 frames before the Creaking Skull fight...then regained them later, though.

I don't think this game is great to TAS. I am cancelling this run now. EDIT: Now I wonder what about a "good ending" run as fast as possible. Maybe I'll try that.

I have both desyncs with (UE) [!] in the first level and (UE) [a1] [!] in the second level. Maybe something's wrong with my clrmamepro's data file.

The good-ending run needs all map pieces hidden in every stage. To collecte them is more tricky than just to walk towards the bosses. If planned carefully, only few places require revisiting. The whole game isn't very entertaining to watch, though.

Yes, I think it will be better to publish it alongside the 2-player version than obsolete it.
