I can't get the Wolverine or Bram Stoker's Dracula videos to play. I am using the most up-to-date FFDShow (revision 4257) and I have tried using it with both the latest version of MPC and MPC-HC.
Are the videos not meant to be able to work with those programs anymore?
Thanks.
EDIT: I can't get the Ghostbusters video encode to work either.
I have investigated this matter a little bit, and I have found a difference between the video encodes that work for me and these newer ones that don't. Apparently there is this thing called a "PIN" for both video and audio. In the videos that work, the "PIN" has a proper-sounding title. In the videos that don't work, the PIN is just a handful of seemingly random symbols.
The media player seems to be properly detecting information about the encodes, such as video length. But FFDShow isn't being triggered by the media player when I try to ask it to play these newer video encodes. And the pointer snaps to the "end" of the video, too.
Please, does anybody have any idea what is going wrong?
Thank you for your help.
A few posts back I shared some links to a "Minimum steps challenge" LP and discussion of this game. It would be of interest to anybody who is keeping up with this thread, since a lot of the same deep knowledge of the game is necessary to make it. Here is a link that explains the challenge better than I can:

Enjoy.
Nahhh, you have humility, but really, your commentary was definitely well-written. It's not easy to explain all that stuff in a way that gets across clearly.
You succeeded brialliantly in my opinion.
This reminds me though, the hitboxes didn't look right for me. The graphic inside the hitbox was offset by about 8 pixels or so, which caused the upper part of it to be clipped off by the top of the hitbox. I thought it might be because I configure FCEUX to show all 240 scanlines, but when I changed that setting back to normal the graphical glitch persisted.
Anyway, enough of that derail. I want to also mention that I think it would be really nice to have the comments translated into some other languages. This TAS presentation seems like it might have some sort of universal quality to it. What do you think?
I just finsihed watching this. It's astounding, absolutely epic... and incredible. The game is a great game, a game worthy of being cherished. Your TAS is so deep, so insightful. It's beyond a TAS that is a technical achievement. It's a TAS that has soul. It took a little more effort to set it up so that I could read your text commentary, and use the lua script, but it was totally worth it.
...Wow. It just was so great. Thank you so much. By the way, I really liked your FF TAS, as well.
Not a TAS, but definitely more serious than most LPs. The challenge is about taking the minimum number of steps on tiles that random battles can be encountered on, while heading straight toward the next destination, and only the ones that are necessary. In areas without battles, as many steps are allowed as needed, but this doesn't make things that much easier!
Chances are that if you have been following this thread that you will be interested in this series of videos.

Thanks, moozooh! May you experience a growing light throughout this stretch of the revolution as well!
Let us all project our good intentions forward into the upcoming iteration of the indefinite cycle!
This is a magnificent TAS! The publication looks great. Dracula X looks really really good when it is presented this way. The entertainment value is out of sight! Congratulations and thank you!
I know what you mean. I just think that there must be some people out there who would be interested in what the fastest strategy to achieve both maximum levels and game completion is. The main question is how much boring grinding would be required. Is it possible to reduce the need for grinding enough to avoid boring stretches during the run to complete the game? There are a lot of opportunities to gain experience on the way to the end. What is the fastest way?
The Crystalis run will feature very optimized experience gaining strategies, which is fascinating. Zelda II doesn't require maximum levels to complete the game, but if maximum levels was an additional goal to achieve in a TAS, then people could see if optimized experience gaining strategies for Zelda II would be fascinating as well.
Does anybody think there would be enough entertainment value in a TAS of Zelda II that completes the game with level 8 in all categories without major glitches, to make it worth it? Is the goal of completing the game with levels 8-8-8 as fast as possible going to make for an interesting and worthy TAS?
The game is well known, and there are a number of fans who would find the concept interesting, but is that enough to make it worth it?
